Darkstar One 1.3 Patch NoCD
 

I noticed there is a new Darkstar One NoCD at gamecopyworld.com for patch 1.3, and decided to give it a shot. The game seems to work for a few minutes and then the graphics degrade rapidly to the point where you can't discern any objects in space.

I don't think this NoCD is accurate yet, so be careful using it. Basically, if you try it, make sure you keep your original executable so you can revert to running it off the DVD if you have the same problem I had...

I can confirm this, the NOCD doesn't work correctly for the English version. The games degrades quite fast, my whole screen turned black at one point. :D

the german also doesnt work !! but the russian does ???
will there be a fix ???:confused:

No one knows. GCW does not make the cracks.

Could someone please remove this 1.3 NoCD or at least tag it with "Not Working"? I vastly prefer using NoCDs over original discs and I'm worried that people will think that there's a working one posted...

It's working on the russian version which uses a different protection, from what i recall...Don't know why it's labeled also german/russian though...

I think a few files are needed from the Russian version. The 1.3 Activemark patch checks these files (as I think every version does):

WalPlugSpace.wex
WalPostFilter.wex

So if you use a cracked AM 1.3 version on the English Tages 1.3 patch you have to replace those 2 files from the AM patch or you get those funny blurry graphics or silly messages appearing on button text.

Just wondering if someone with the Russian version can try the Russian crack + those 2 files from the Russian version on a 1.3 patched English version and see if the 'FADE' effect goes away.

Kind of late, but i want to confirm - cracked exe for v1.3 do NOT work on russian version of darkstar one. Problem is the same - game graphic start to blur more and more... I just tried the english version today, then brought russian one from local store. Actually a have thought that this is not protection bug, but then i used the original .exe and the game runs just fine.

Hey, thanks Rakshas. The extra effort you made is much appreciated! We should probably have that 1.3 crack entirely removed from GCW, since it seems that it doesn't work with any localization of the game.

A little bit offtopic :rolleyes:, but maybe useful:

Afaik only method for v1.3 to preserve your original:

- install DT 3.41 (other 3.4x versions may also work, but NOT v4.x versions using SPTD)
- remove other virtual drives
- mount mini image with DT 3.41
- cloak drives with Y.A.S.U.

Thanks for the information Zulu, but I don't really want to uninstall my DT 4.09 to put in an older version and deal with all the cloaking hassle. It's not an enormous problem to use the original so I'll just do that until someone releases a working 1.3 No-CD exe. I wish they'd stop using copy protection like this... "I bought your game, please let me enjoy it in peace."

New ENG/GER/RUS v1.3 crack on GCW made by PAKHAN!

Tried it on the English v1.3 and no graphic problems in the 30mins I played but noticed one problem in the Trade Station, after docking if you go to the Panorama view and then exit your status bar at the top of the screen disappears, the one with the Logbook, your cash, criminal record, options etc so you can't click on them, you have to use the keyboard shortcuts!

This only happens if you go to the Panaorama view, it comes back if you exit and enter the Trade Station or go to another one!

Apart from that little bug so far so good!

Thanks for a kind words, but this isn`t bug of a crack.
This happens even if you are playing with a original disk (and protection working of course).
It`s a bug of a russian version. Ascaron (maybe Akella or starforce) have lost this feature during recompilation.

Been a long time since I played it with the disk in but just tried it and status bar does indeed disappear, now why did I not notice that before? Damn these braincells, dying quicker than US soldiers in Iraq!

Sorry to say that I have applied "DarkStar One v1.3 (v1.3.1416) [ENGLISH/RUSSIAN/GERMAN] No-DVD/Fixed EXE #2" by PAKHAN over a patched English version 1.3 and after a few minutes the background begins to shake uncontrollably every time I move my mouse. Therefore the patch should get a notice that it does not work either (just like version 1 got).

Again sorry guys, problem not solved. :(

Are you sure that all three files was overwrited and there are no copies of them lying in the dark corner of the game folder?
You see, the game is loading practically all files that are resided around the main .exe.
So if you left backup copy or in another way haven`t totally replace all files, the original one(s) will be loaded and you`ll see something that you don`t want to.
If the problem will not be solved you can PM me.

What I originally did was not overwrite the files but renamed them (but left the files in the folder). I did as you suggested and made sure to remove them from the folder. IT WORKS NOW!!!!

This crack doesn't work correctly. He eleminate screen shakes. But when other ship is trying to shoot, computer is stop working and it just freez.

Hey I hope this isnt too far off topic. I am trying to play the game, but I have no HUD. I haven't played it in ages but I don't remember this ever being an issue. Am I missing something? For example, That 1st dude that you're supposed to follow around, Awrim or something... He's telling my to get closer to his ship. Well I don't seem to have any way to track him. I remember there being some sort of radar or something that would tell you when you were inline with the target, but now it's not there. Sorry If I sound vague, its just been so long since i've played it. Also, on the next one (killing the pirates) I can see the target tags on the left side of the screen. But I cannot select one of them. Basically I have no tracking of any kind. What do I do?

**edit** ok yeah i just looked up some screenshots. I definitely have no HUD. There is no targeting system in the center of the screen and I also have no radar things in the bottom corners either.
