Desert rats vs Afrika Korps Fixed EXE
 

G'day

im currently looking for a desert rats vs Afrika Korps fixed exe.

when i start it up and play you tells me the version is 1.18

now i found a 1.18 fixed exe on gamecopyowlrd but it didnt work

so can someone please make a fixed exe or fixed image for this game

starforce, either use the existing crack or hold your breath waiting for a new crack / use the original...

754 'hidden' files in the game, 6 vm usage.. so it'd be a tough one

i am using the original cd

but i hate cds

and the crack i found doesnt work

yes i know starforce and to be honest its the fact that i have starforce on my computer that pisses me off the most.

i despise the protection if it was safedisc 4 or soemthing i would just suck it up but starforce makes me angry.

is there a way to make a mini image for it.

the germans have created a fixed exe for afrika korps vs desert rats but it would appear that the german version is differant as the australia version is desert rats vs afrika korps and so the german one doesnt work.

exactly the same filename and everything and its 1.18 and is starforce but when u go to run it it starts then shuts down.

and i got into contact with a german bloke that has the afrika korps vs desert rats one and it works perfectly on his he says.

but it refuses to work on the australian desert rats vs afrika corps.

trust me though there the exact same game and the exe file on both is ak.exe

1 cd and is the exact same system requirements.

so i cant get it

if you can download the crack and see if u can get it to work and if so educate me.

Instructions

This crackfix includes both the standalone exe and a PPF patch to the
original image.
PPF: Use applyppf to patch your image file and then unrar the new crack
into the game installation directory.
EXE: Just overwrite ak.exe with the new copy.

The keyboard shortcut editor is included as a bonus ;) (but not in the ppf)

oh, im quite framiliar with the flt one ;p it works, and was 1.18 if i remember right, sadly i aint got a copy of the crack exe anymore

there were 3 releases of it

1. crack (bad, cos e9 redirects were +400000h off where they should have been)
2. crack fix (works perfectly)
3. crack fix addendum - contained the editor

(going from memory there)

so u need 2+3, well only 2 if u dont want to use the editor
reason crack might not be about is the crack was > 50mb if i remember right, due to the missing files

but i know it definately worked...

where can i get it

this crack is 9mb

i got 9mb but i need the other 41mb

yeh the 41mb is the missing files, i dunno where the crack is, and like i said i aint got it, the missing files from the german release might work though (didnt test that)

i think Alien Firefox is looking for the crack / missing files...

I've got the FLT Crackfix (6.43mb) and the Addendum (376kb), not sure if this helps seeing as someone mentioned 50mb of missing files?

I also have a French crackfix from PETANK and a German Bloodpatch from AXiS!!

Just kidding! The FLT crack I have does not work due to missing files as TippeX says, so I found another crack with the missing files, 32mb when unpacked, but that too does not work for me as I can't see any menu text when the game loads so I can't see what I'm clicking on :(

I saw a FIX on Monte Cristos site for ATI cards but that made no difference, even using the original CD and Starforce installed I get the same thing :(

Err... solved the menu problem, I read the Readme.txt :)

Seems you need to reboot the computer (Which I did) or manually copy a font file over to the fonts folder:

Must have been me trying to run the game without rebooting and using the crack first that screwed it up as replacing the starforce EXE and rebooting didn't solve it, so had to do the manual copy thingy as per readme!

I applied the missing files again and the FLT Crackfix and game works fine now, menu text is now visible. I also applied the ATI Shadow Fix patch too, just to be safe!

oh and also i didnt have to restart either


with starforce you forced to restart the comp as it needs to restart to install the starforce drivers which causes all my blood to go to my face and nearly have an anorism.

anyways with a crack you dont have to restart and from what i've seen it only installs starforce when you click on the games exe file for the first time.

so when you use a crack starforce is completely removed so it usually wont even install starforce drivers on your system.

i fixed it though

download the 1.18 fixed exe from gcw and then u need to copy over the ak.exe and the shortcuteditor.exe

worked like a charm

So combinig the two cracks was the right way. If BarryB can repackaged it and upload it on gamecopyworld, that would make a lot of people happy.

yeh original crack had the level 3 issue, midway through the movie
its an e9 redirect to starforce code,which was fixed (but +400000h
added to the va.. hiew bug),the crack fix (oddly enough) fixes this

Can you try uploading the crackfix + files to GCW as I seem to be having an upload issue, it's only 4mb when packed but I can't seem to upload it!

EDIT: Seems the upload problem is with GCW, EMPiRE is fixing it as soon as he can!

The next thing is doing a short faq with the optional and the secret objectives. If I can find my old saves, I can write about the greman campaign where I managed to do all the objectives(what can I say, I'm a manic, I want everything completed, not as pot on my dossier). The allied campaign proved to be more elusive.

well the crack being available is due to flt too heh, technically, unless barryb can magic cracks out of thin air :)

yer but what i was getting at is i wouldnt be playing dr vs ak without the cd right now if it wasnt for barryb

just because there was a crack around it was barryb that got it available.

the crack wouldnt be on gamecopyworld if barryb hadnt found it

especting us to buy a single copy and not being able to back it up is what i call criminal.

its my right to backup games i own especially here in the great country of australia.

providing i own the original game im entitled to make a backup for my own personal use.

I think we can stop this now! The crack is on GCW and that's all that matters, who did what is not really important. Let's all be happy it's there and draw a line under it please!
