OK so here's the deal about network play in BFME 2 expansion :

The original installation's version is 2.0 (you can check that in Options -> Settings in the lower right corner).

Every time the game detects a 'game.dat' that is DIFFERENT than the original you get like 'Version 0.135060' or something.So the only way to play network or online (if you own a valid cd key) is to use the maxi image provided @ GCW. Here are the steps :

0.(If you already have an installed & cracked version).Uninstall the game.
1.Install a CLEAN copy of BFME 2 Witch King.
2.Using Daemon Tools (I use 4.08),mount the Maxi Image.
3.Use Y.A.S.U (I use 1.04) to hide your virtual drives.
4.Launch the game.

The only drawback is that you have to run YASU after every reboot and that the image is +3GB :(

Oh and by the way,this should work on BFME 2 with the latest patches on (I've heard users having trouble with mismatching versions etc.).

Thx man.It works for me but after a certain time,a message appears and say this:"Couldn't continue the game because maybe one of the users' game has been modified". And after this message the game crashed.Damm! These LAN problems...pls help me!

Sounds good. Will have to try it out. Just one question, will this allow me to use the updates for ROTW?

I followed your steps above but when I try to mount the image file it says "the file or directory is corrupted and unreadable"
after redownloading the same file many times and rcving the same error, I even tried to convert the image into ISO. and then i can mount it but when I try to load the game, it says "Please insert the correct CD-Rom, select OK then restart the application"
does it matter the location of the image file on the hard drive (I tried to have it in the same directory, parent directory..." can u please check if the file is really corrupt or not?

ISO-Images don't contain copy-protection data.
It has to be MDS/MDF or similar.

Of course they are mountable.

Use one of the later versions of either Alcohol 120 or Daemon Tools.

I dont have the game myself so I cannot test the image for you. But I seriously doubt it is corrupt as it works for many others.

"F:\ is not accessible"
"the file or directory is corrupted and unreadable"
is there anything I should know about mounting the image file?
some specific folder? settings? I mean why would I be the only one that is not able to mount it correctly while using the latest version of alcohol, or daemon tools?

do you know what a mini/maxi image is?

'the file or directory is corrupted and unreadable' is common (ish) with those sort of images, due to the fact the toc is destroyed and the image really only contains the copy protection 'signature'....

just run the exe, and see if it passes the check... and dont try opening the virtual drive in explorer...

i tried mounting the mds then tried the mdf and then tried mounting the mds,mdf and iso image all together i don't really know what i'm doing i just try to figure it out as i go along

You want to LAN party you buy a copy per machine.

So i got bored recently and found my old games but i found that they were too scratched up to be usable so I have been searching for a solution as this game is no longer produced. And i remember how fun this old game was. So i thought I would post this to save you all the time that it took me to experiment and figure out how to do it.

FOLLOW MY DIRECTIONS EXACTLY AND IT WILL WORK, IF YOU DO NOT FOLLOW MY DIRECTIONS IT WILL NOT WORK

Things you will need:
1-Daemon Tools 4.30.4-(USE THIS VERSION, it compatible with Windows 7 and with the other program you will need)
2-Y.A.S.U. 1.6-(Stands for:Yet Another SecuROM Utility.)
3-"ns-LotrBfMe2EP1_Maxi-poseden" both the MDF and the MDS file. type that into Google, you should find it.
(I am not going to put up links for these, links are too often broken and I am too lazy to come and update them, Google these files, that's how I did it)
4-The Game disc ".iso" for both the original and the RoTWK expansion.

Directions:

1-Download and install Daemon Tools 4.30.4

2-Download the .iso files for both the original and the RoTWK expansion and install the game +You will need your game key which you will find on your game manual +For those inexperienced you will need to "mount" these images with Daemon Tools

3-Whilst you are installing the game go and download the ns-LotrBfMe2EP1_Maxi-poseden MDF and MDS files +Now unmount the .iso files you used to install the game and mount the .MDS file 3-Download and Y.A.S.U.-1.6 and place the YASU.exe file in your Daemon Tools Directory(For me that was "C:\Program Files (x86)\DAEMON Tools Lite")

4-Run the YASU.exe and hit the "Cloak" button +Make sure it worked by looking down the list and seeing if the words "1 device(s) successfully cloaked from SecuROM 7.xx:" show up, if it does show up then good job you did it.

5-Run the game like normal and enjoy! +As a side note if you get a version mismatch message after all this try installing the RoTWK 2.01 patch, you can probably find it on gamecopyworld.com, that was my source

i used daemon tool 4.30.4 and yasu 1.6.9040...
