Neverwinter Nights 2 - DVD drive unhook

I noticed that in the instructions for the NWN2 mini image that we have to physically unhook or disable our DVD drives :(

Is it possible to make an image/fix that does not require disabling our optical drives?

I remember Splinter Cell Chaos Theory required this run around untill much later (2 years after the release?) some smart person figured out how to do the fix correctly.

I'm hoping a proper fix wont require 2 years :)

The Poseden Maxi-Image working perfectly! Mount it DaemonTools v4.06
(maybe need DT SPTD updated to v1.35, I tried with 'em!).
Set EMULATION All Options ON. You set ONLY 1 VirtualDrive on your PC (!!).
Start YASU.EXE and make the Mounted drive hidden.
Run new Securom loader (ASR/PROCY/ALKI) and select NWN2LAUNCHER.EXE.
When you exit the game, start again YASU to Unhide (it is important).
I tested my Original Boxed US DVD5 and DVD9 version installed game.
Not needed my Original Media anymore (if an update come out, try again).

He obviously converted his DVD9 to a DVD5.

Read his post in the CD2DVD Forum. ;) (It's post #9) ;)

So what does this YASU tool do?

Is that like SF Nightmare that hides your DVD drives?

What version of Securom loader are you using?
I have CureROM v2.0.3.1 installed currently - i think that's what you mean by "Securom loader".

leezer3 06-11-2006 12:53

With Nforce motherboards, it should only be necessary to disable the DVD drive from device manager. Its working perfectly here in conjunction with a randomly renamed proxycon.exe (My own maxi image, not the one from GCW)

Hehehe yeah, just looked weird when he said he tried both DVD5 and DVD9 as if there was 2 types.

tet666 06-11-2006 15:18

only yasu.exe is needed forget the rest just mount it in newest daemon tools and run yasu , works perfectly here.

Ascendant 06-11-2006 15:32

Does this method work on the 1.01 version? 1.00 was easy enough to bypass, but 1.01 is giving me problems, and I can't find a no-cd crack for it.

I managed to get by 1.01 using the drive disable method, but then it stopped working, lol. Go figure.

So you're claiming that you only need this yasu and Daemontools?

So I won't need CureROM or some Securom Loader?

Can anybody else verify this claim?

TippeX 06-11-2006 19:30

yasu is more or less curerom... same coder. slightly different approach...
try googling :)

How to get things work after 1.02 patch

No mechanical actions are required whatsoever.

Mount the image in DT 4.06, sptd.sys 1.35.
Other software with low-lvl drivers on my rig: AnyDVD, Nero, Alcohol *without* virtual drives and the vaxscsi.sys driver.

Disable or if disabling doesn't help - delete (uninstall) your physical optical disk drivers from device manager (will be restored after reboot).

Using regedit.exe, mercilessly delete the HKLM\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\Scsi
key in its entirety (will also be restored and rebuilt upon next reboot).

Now you need no emulators/loaders/hiders and so on. Just play the game from the launcher.

Guess it is a temporary solution, but it works fine with full image every time, haven't checked with the mini/maxi ones.

Just noticed that GCW has a no-DVD fixed exe(s) for the game.

No need for all this nonsense. Just replace exe :)

P22 07-11-2006 08:07

Isn't it just for 1.00 version?

darksniperx 07-11-2006 08:25

I have been looking for a while and trying out different thing, but nothing works. I have tryed what the person suggested in a different post, but as soon as I disable my local cd and lunch nwn2main.exe and crashes a second later. If I keep my local cd enabled, the game detects my dt-406 with game loaded it and doesnt let me continue, if I use anty-blah, I get cannot access the module error. Is there anyways to get nwn 2 1.02 to work???

And allso I cannot use v1.0 or 1.01 cause I get 128 meg video card bug, which then crashes my game, allthough my vid is 128 meg and it is on supported list.

**The quote below which I have referred to in my text does not work for me. It is just for the reference.**

@darksniperx
Did you even read the post by 'LordHalbert2' which is 2 posts above yours!

darksniperx 07-11-2006 14:56

if you read my post carefully, I have said that I have read the solution that was posted 2 post b4 mine, and I said that I did follow it and, and that it did not WORK!. I have also seen that it is a temporary WORKING! solution, but it does not work for me, cause as soon as I disable my ide drive, the nwn2 crashes b4 it even loads. the .exe encountered an error and needs to exit. That is why I am asking is there is another working solution.

Grumpy 07-11-2006 17:36

@darksniperx
Ok it appears you have not read my post carefully!

2 posts above your posts! So you needed to read post # 13 which says:

the new securerom does not work with yasu or antiblan , etc.. nwn 2 just sais cannot load mudules when you load nwn2main.exe

secondly the is no , no-cd crack for v1.02, and I need to use v1.02 cause It has fix for my video card. Or maybe I am bliend, but as far I as see there is only crack for v1.0 on gamecopyword.com

DABhand 07-11-2006 17:45

So whats wrong with using your cd just now?

You can use that until a no-cd gets released. If one gets released.

darksniperx 07-11-2006 18:53

my cd doesnt work, it sais insert the correct cd when I try to lunch the game, I did not had any problems launching my game with v1.0 or 1.01 authugh, I had a black the got 128 meg video card error. with 1.02 it does not authenticate my dvd.

TippeX 08-11-2006 07:19

contact the game technical support then..

darksniperx 08-11-2006 07:38

yea, their solution is to reformat my pc, or change my dvd drive or change the game dvd, since I dont have anything installed on my pc that will prevent the game from working, so the crack is the best and the fastest and easiest thing.

tet666 08-11-2006 09:26

the latest version is 1.1 not 1.2, 1.2 was pulled because it was very buggy, and there has to be something wrong with your pc if the yasu method doesnt work.

darksniperx 08-11-2006 11:01

yasu works with v1.0 and v1.01, it does not work with v1.02 since it uses higher version of securom, something higher than 7.28.

P22 09-11-2006 02:04

Btw, 1.02 was just rereleased...

this way work on my comp i unistalled the optic driver and it worked
BE SURE to not load any procyone.exe or yasu.exe or else it wont work

tnx much Chuck U. Farlie :D

New patch 1.02

Can someone run NWN 2 with the new patch 1.02 using the image? I tried everything here.

well i just deinstelled my dvd drives from the devicemanager andthe game starts with 1.02, i didnt delete the scsi key from the registry or anything else.

TippeX 09-11-2006 07:02

those are seriously drastic steps.. disabling the stuff on board, or deleting it all together SHOULD have a disclaimer attached to it..

sometimes it amazes me what measures people are actually willing to go...

tet666 09-11-2006 07:36

lol i just tried to start the game without disabling dvd drives or anything elese and the game starts! i just mounted the maxi image nothing else.

maltiryan 09-11-2006 08:21

If I just use the maxi-image when I run the game it says 'Original disc could not be found or authenticated.' and if I uninstall the DVD drive and remove the key it says the same thing. Any ideas? I'm using the Bender image, the Poseden one can't even mount it.

Bender image doesn't work for me (gives that same error).
But poseidon one works (with newest DT4.06, SPTD1.35 and YASU 1.01).

It works with both 1.00 and 1.01 version of NWN2.

Haven't tested it with 1.02 (rereleased version). Can anyone confirm does it work or not?

maltiryan 09-11-2006 12:08

P22 where did you get the Poseden image? Maybe the one I'm got mine from is corrupted.

maltiryan 09-11-2006 12:13

Finally! It works with the Posedon image even with patch 1.02 P22. It seems nothing was wrong with the image, it just wouldn't show up in the the virtual drive. Even without YASU it works.

P22 09-11-2006 12:16

Quote:

From GCW of course. ;)

Although one interesting thing with this image is, that it doesn't include file and folder info, so you can't "open" it explorer and see any files (trying that gives corruption error). But it still does the work of bypassing copy protection.

EDIT: Heh, crossposting...
Anyway, are you 100% sure it works with 1.02?
Without YASU? Did you maybe deinstalled DVD driver (not necessary for 1.01 if using YASU)?

zhandao 09-11-2006 12:41

I got it working:

Mount with Daemon Tools, but don't do any of the disabling/deleting drives. After you mount, exit Daemon Tools in the system tray but leave Emulation options on. NWN2 should still be in your virtual drive but D-tools should not be running anymore and you can just run NWN2 normally now.

Edit: If it still doesn't work, here's a link to the 1.01 patch by itself (I'm assuming the game automatically updates to 1.02 now?) so that you can reinstall and not go straight to 1.02: http://nwn2patch.obsidianent.com/upd...m100_to101.zip

_zax_ 09-11-2006 12:57

I've used both images (poseden and bended) on 1.02 version + YASU (but didnt disable drivers) and received this message:

"A required security module can not be activated. This program can not be executed."

It doesnt work for me :(

EDIT:

OK, now it works, thx :)

MarcusG 09-11-2006 13:51

works like a charm on update 1.02 809 using zhandao's method :D (cheers)

I used the old release of DT 4.03.

Just checked this methog with 1.01 (before trying it on 1.02).
Mounted image, exited daemon tools (leaving emulations), YASU disabled.

And then I get this message:
Please remove disc from current CD/DVD drive and insert the original disc in another drive E:.

(E: is my physical DVD drive)

P.S.
On the other hand, if I just disable my E: drive, game will work regardless do I have daemon active or are emulation options on or off. Not tested with 1.02 yet (just 1.01).
