Jaws Unleashed
help.. everytime I try to install the game I get:
"The wizard was interrupted before Jaws Unleashed could be completely installed." I bet its because of my OS, which is X64 pro! but is there no way to install it then? damnit I wanna play this game :( |
(Wrong forum, moved.)
Have you read the system requirements? Have you contacted the publisher? |
i have the same problem :D
I am using Vista Build 5744 x86 |
X64 should work.
Vista is still beta, why do people assume things will work on Vista :P If your going to use Vista, if you have a 2nd drive do dual boot with XP Pro/Home. So if it dont work on Vista then it will on XP pro/home. Oh and I assume you checked the specifications before you bought the game. |
yes I meet the requirements. well except for X64.. and it's a problem in general, not just on my machine obviously! dunno what to do.
contacted support already but they didnt answer yet |
ok what I've done is, install windows xp on another partition. then, insert the jaws cd while running winxp. installed fine.
copied over some registry entries which are required to run the game (try searching for "Jaws" in the registry at HKLM\Software\) to win64 registry. then simply played the game while running winx64. removed winxp again. :) |
Oh, the idiots released a game supporting 64-bit OS'es with an installer that doesn't... :D
|
well everything worked until now
i think there is some kind of protection in that installer, because one time i got a "safedisc protection error message" while trieing to install. tehhaxxor23 can you please send me the registry file and the paths so i can extract my game out of the cabs? |
a.reg:
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 |
You have got to be *BEEP* me....
So in order to install that game one must install windows XP , install the game, copy the registry entries and then go back to XP x64 and play it ??? What kinda of F**** Solution is that ???? |
Your not computer savvy are you.
You make a new text file you copy the before mentioned lines above your post into the file. And save as a.reg You then double click a.reg and say yes to add to registry. |
You still have to have it installed in that place in order for the reg key to work.
Its not a valid fix. |

Grumpy ive tried it 3 times already.
Like the guy said..He installed it using a windows xp x32 version and copied the reg keys...After that he booted again this time to the x64 version that he has in the SAME rig , entered the reg key and then he could play. The game MUST be Installed in the folder you enter in the reg key in order for the reg key to work. The problem is that i cant install it and im not about to install windows xp x32 to make it work. |
then contact the games technical support, stating the error and see what they say..
|
Well so far nada from technicall support.
Good thing i only gave 14euros for that game :P |

|
Well grumpy i was hoping you could help.
:D Anyways the game was 29euros but the guy is a friend and let me have it for 14 euros. Im sure theres gonna be a workaround soon. |
Jaws unleashed won't run on vista
1- I did a copy of all the 3 disks in a folder named Majesco\Jaws Unleashed.
2- I unzipped all the CABs there and then deleted the CABs when done. 3- I moved the WMV files in a folder that I named "movie". 4- I moved the GDW files in a folder named "data". 5- I changed the "Jaws.exe" by a NO-CD fix I found on the net. 6- Like specified I did a REG file to indicate the location of the folders by creating a new text file and copied that: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Majesco\Jaws Unleashed] "Language"=dword:00000409 "ExecutePath"="E:\\Majesco Entertainment\\Jaws Unleashed\\" "MovieFolder"="E:\\Majesco Entertainment\\Jaws Unleashed\\movie" "DataFolder"="E:\\Majesco Entertainment\\Jaws Unleashed\\data" 7- I saved it as "A.REG". 8- Did a double-click on the file to MERGE the REG file and clicked "yes". 9- I did a double-click on "Jaws.exe" and started to play. Simple as that. No need to install another OS to this simple task. Basically the installer is just doing that : unzip some files in the "Program Files\Majesco\Jaws Unleashed" folder and write the location of thoses files in the registry. It is easy to do this manually and bypass the dumb stuck msi installer. Now I can play the game with Vista and I don't even have to use the CD 1 anymore to start it. Hope this will be useful! Erick p.s.: of course, you can put the folder anywhere you want just make sure that you are indicating the correct path to theses aboves specified folders. |
