check overheating, and / or cpu temp settings in the bios

DABhand 18-10-2006 14:55

Yep sounds like GPU overheating.

But do check if the back case fan is blowing out and not in, as it could be recirculating hot air.

bobrik75 18-10-2006 23:53

thanks.
il chek.but all 3 collers work gut.
all chek temperatur of pc uts about 33.its normal oder not?
what i need to look in BIOS? and what to do?
thanks again.

bobrik75 18-10-2006 23:54

how much digris must be in cpu temp settings in the bios?

Joe Forster/STA 19-10-2006 02:21

The BIOS doesn't show the temperature of your video card. Get a system info software, like e.g. Lavalys Everest (in this software, see Computer/Sensor/GPU).

problem

i was installing the everest-3.3
temper of grafik kard ist about 45 grad.when i play game its about 53-
now i was chang the driver.
after some time black screen come again, this time whith out the lines.looks like i was restartin PC
only after i take it out the power and put it back its startet working again. What is it.HElp.

Joe Forster/STA 30-10-2006 01:48

The display went away because the temperature of the video card wen too high? Check the fan (oil or replace it, if needed), check the fans in the PC case (perhaps, they cannot blow the heat away from th inside), don't overclock the video card, take the PC to the shop where you bought the video card...

Grumpy 30-10-2006 03:59

................and make sure dust build up is not blocking the fan vents.

Joe Forster/STA 30-10-2006 04:49

... or even the fans themselves. (Very good comment, Grumpy; recently ran into this! :)) This may also mean a 10 degree difference!

thanks for tryin to help me.
but....
i dont think thats happend beqouse of overhiting, one time thats happend right after i turn on my PC.there was no time for overheating-

first time when its happend it was black screen wtith green lines, after i change a driver its come now only black screen.and this problem whith restart and turn off PC,when this happend i kannt do it,only take it out from power, whei i take it back evrithing fine.PC work ,maybe 1 houh maybe 1day.but than again,

They, at least, won't have to do "remote doctoring"... ;)

Its definetly a GFX problem, even when you changed drivers you get a new look to an old problem.

bobrik75 30-10-2006 06:33

yes,i think so,maybe i need reinstall driver,i was instal the driver over the old driver whith out uninstall.what do u think

DABhand 30-10-2006 06:34

No buddy, its a hardware fault, if the graphic card is still under warranty get it replaced.

bobrik75 31-10-2006 02:21

whith this i have a problem.now im living in Austriai .and PC was bout in anather contry-so i have warranty but i dont now how i kann make it.how do u think if i go to Nvidia service hier they kann help me,?????

Joe Forster/STA 31-10-2006 05:56

Take it to any PC repair shop. (Of course, the repair won't be free if you didn't buy the PC/the video card there, though...)

It may not be an NVIDIA card.

NVidia have been known to sell their own brand of cards, but mostly they sell their GPU chips to other companies who make the graphic cards.

I believe it will be very difficult for you since you bought this from another country. Except if there is a depot of the manufacturer of your card e.g. leadtek, msi, asus, in austria where you are now so you can ask help from them. But I suspect, it could be your motherboard as well. playing games under 70 degrees centigrade temp of gpu wont harm the graphics card. It is normal to most of the video cards.

When i bought my radeon 1900gt, it reaches 85 degree centigrade when playing games and its around 60 degrees idle. I wonder how hot this card is, but that its normal. But I manage to bring it down the temp.

Anyway, back to the scratch, try to look where the origin of the problem. could be the bios, motherboard, graphics card, monitor or even PSU.

Try to uninstall the video card and install it again... but i doubt its the problem. but you can try.

Good luck... :)

as cool as ice.... ;)
