Syncmaster 940bf vs. Battlefield 2

hello

I have bought a new monitor (Syncmaster 940bf) but now i can't play bf2...

can anyone hlp me?

DABhand 02-08-2006 06:59

Perhaps you had the resolution set to high with your old monitor and when you try to play the game the resolution is too high for your new monitor.

faffe 02-08-2006 08:01

no... my new monitor can have the same resolution as the old one...

Battlefield 2

It can´t be true that u can´t play the game on the monitor. You haven´t even explained what exactly the problem is. Do you have a black screen or what? I have the syncmaster 740bf (17") at home and can play every game I want. You have the same monitor, but 19" response time 2 ms (gray to gray). Push the auto button check the connection cable turn the monitor on. Try all the buttons on the front side especially the button left from the auto button.

Perhaps, the new monitor cannot cope with so low/high refresh frequencies as the ones the old monitor was configured to. Have you contacted the publisher of the game, with a (much more detailed) problem report? Is this game the only one that doesn't work with your new monitor? Have you tried fiddling with the DirectX settings (run DXDIAG)?

faffe 02-08-2006 11:07

ok...

when i press on bf2, the bf2 sign come and black screen for about 2 sec then back to the desktop...

The cd is in the tray !!

The original cd is in the tray or do u use a crack? :)

Have u tried playing another game?:)

Do you think your specifications are helpful enough?:)

DABhand 02-08-2006 16:59

Then its not your monitor at fault, the game is at fault, a monitor doesnt kill a game from working.

faffe 02-08-2006 17:07

it is my monitor i have tried switch to the old one and it works fine.

other games work fine.

use no hack

hope that was better...;)

Assuming this isn't an ID-10-T error, run windows update.

Check your monitors supported resolutions and compare with those in:

"C:\...\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\Default\Video.con" & "C:\..\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0001\Video.con"

You can view these file with notepad: (Example)
--------------------------------------
VideoSettings.setTerrainQuality 3
VideoSettings.setGeometryQuality 3
VideoSettings.setLightingQuality 2
VideoSettings.setDynamicLightingQuality 2
VideoSettings.setDynamicShadowsQuality 2
VideoSettings.setEffectsQuality 2
VideoSettings.setTextureQuality 3
VideoSettings.setTextureFilteringQuality 3
VideoSettings.setResolution 1024x768@60Hz
VideoSettings.setAntialiasing Off
VideoSettings.setViewDistanceScale 1
VideoSettings.setVideoOptionScheme 3
---------------------------------------
admin: I don't think this violates any rules regarding original files, if so I will remove.

If you don't feel comfortable editing these files, rename them to video.old & try BF2 this way. Good Luck.

It isnt your monitor, your monitor is working

Its bad settings in the game, thats causing the game to talk to the monitor and it isnt replying a good sign and it kills itself.

faffe 03-08-2006 04:16

Dieselbrad: not working :(

DABhand: how do i change those settings?

ps.
my knowledge to computers is not so good... so please express your self in a way i can understand it please:o

kosmiq 03-08-2006 04:55

the best way to get it running is to plug in the old monitor, lower all settings in all games to something like 800x600 @ 60hz and then switch back to your new monitor.

Joe Forster/STA 03-08-2006 04:57

(Thred moved, title edited.) This is a problem specific to this game so contact the publisher, there's nothing else really to be discussed.

faffe 04-08-2006 11:47

so im just gonna send a e-mail..

but thank you all for the replys.. :D

I had a similar problem like this one some time ago but with other games it was a video drivers problem

Pyle 20-10-2006 22:23

Did You Ever Figure It Out?

ITS THE HERTZ THE MONITOR RUNS AT.
So its a 2 step operation

1)
Go to
My documents
Battlefield 2
Profiles
Default ( And 1 )
Open the Video.Con and put 1280x1024@60hz
Save and Close Video.con
( Does it work ? If not put 1280x960@60hz)

2)
delete everything in
My Documents
Battlefield 2
Mods
Bf2
Cache

Run The Game

Should be fine now :)
