Reloaded just released Race Driver 3

Well, i'm not sure which version -> 1.0 or 1.1

If you want to get rid of the simple CD-check in the rld crack, use a hex editor and search/replace the following bytes in rd3.exe:

search for: E8 99 F1 FF FF 85 C0 74 DF
replace with: 90 90 90 90 90 90 90 90 90

I played a few tracks and it seems to work for me, but I'd recommend backing up your savegame profiles first. Codemasters is notoriously tricky for putting in hidden checks and then doing subtle things like corrupting save games if you missed one (as in the xbox version).

The EXE doesn't contain the usual Starforce signatures, perhaps this is a legal download version that they cracked with some other protection?

Only 1 byte can be modified to bypass the cd-check.

with an hex editor, go to adress D8C80 and change 81 with C3.

(Stand-alone) cracks come from (full) releases so it's not that black & white...!

@nonspin: No probs matey, I think everyones NoDVD cracks are valid :)

@Joe: I speculate here, but you probably don't have to download a full release to get just the crack. As Winrar allows extracting broken files I think maybe you can apply the same technique of grabbing the first rar of a set of files and extract the broken file inside. If it's a CD/DVD image then you can use Isobuster to open the image and extract, say, the crack only.

Also, I was reading on a private board that the reloaded release appears to be v1.1 already? Someone tried to patch it with the official v1.1 patch and it said all the data files it was patching were the same version but wouldn't patch the 3 starforce files, saying 'old version not found'? Now what's that all about!

It definitely v1.0, because

- the 1.1 update is 85.8 MB and RLD would have stated something like
"Install Game, apply 1.1 update, copy cracked .exe ... bla" .. like they
did with SC:Chaos Theory

- the original rd3.exe from the RLD-Release is 2.59 MB -> v1.1 is 2.56 MB

The cracked exe is not necessarily bigger than the orignial one.
The smaller the unprotected exe (of the developer), the smaller is the amount of data you can compress. Additionally SF adds a quite huge amount of protection shit and its VM so the compressed exe got even bigger...

There is no info about a patch, like: "apply the official patch".
So I also think it is for v1.0.

The cracked exe-file has the version number 1.0.0.1.
No idea what the number of the original patched exe-file is.
(I don't have this game!)

If you use the Reloaded crack and NoDVD patch you downgrade your 1.1 version to 1.0!
