Fear 1.04 nocd exe works with 1.05 patch!
 

After so many problems with curerom i thought i would try the 1.04 nocd exe with the new update. Sure enough it works! Multiplayer and all! So much for the new securerom update lol. Enjoy.

do you have all updates after that?

Have you checked whether the main executable remains the same between the updates? Because, if the 1.05 update introduces a new main executable and you overwrite it with the cracked main executable for update 1.04, be prepared for random crashes and weird behavior throughout the game!

Ya I thought of that, but I played a multiplayer game and everything was fine. The reason I thought it would work in the first place is the default.archcfg seems to define the version not the exe. For instance, you can replace the 1.05 default.archcfg with the 1.04 and play version 1.04 again just fine. I will do some testing today and play a lot more. But so far so good.

the FEAR 1.05 patch changes the exe and while it's possible that the cracked 1.04 exe still works fine, i would rather use the mini image, just to be sure.

What matters is whether those files, that are replaced by the crack for version 1.04, have been changed between versions 1.04 and 1.05. If so, the crack for version 1.04 may become unstable with the rest of version 1.05.

And playing with the game for a few minutes or hours on a single PC might not make the problems obvious either, only: after a longer time, at other parts of the game, with other settings, on another PC (hardware, software) etc.... Therefore, checking the file differences is much easier, which is why I recommended that.

Well I dunno how to do that. Curerom (and all other programs like it) crash my system for whatever reason. So if anyone has problems such as me, this at least might be a possible solution. I will still post if it crashes for me, will play tonight.

It maybe they just wrapped the EXE in a newer version of Securom, just like the recent Call of duty 2 v1.3 update (which is Safedisc btw) as the v1.2 EXE is the same as the v1.3 when unwrapped, just check the DEViANCE 1.2 and 1.3 cracks for CoD2.

I played through the entire game on v1.04 EXE (which is signed @ the site as unworking, funny :D) - patch 1.05 installed of course. I had no errors in either single player or online parts of the game. The crack by Unleashed works 100%, and what they say on site (unworking, taken from trial), is a lie, no matter if intentional, or not, still a lie.

Uhm, no, it's not a lie, it's just unintentional wrong information. The difference between the two is that when you lie, you know you're not telling the truth. GCW administration has no time to check cracks, you know...

You may want to send this report to th GCW Support forum, too, so that the wrong information is removed. Thank you!

Yes a great game but unfortunately it is too short and the so called 'scarey' bits, well there isnt much of them. Not as many as people are led to believe anyway!
The reactions from the AI are very good though.

I'm gonna play Condemned: Criminal Origins next, methinks. Luckily, there are no misleading infos on Condemned's Fixed EXE's - there's just one, and it's good.

I've posted a report on the Support forum but no one removed the invormation that "This exe does not seem to be functioning properly". It does. Well, it also turned out that it WAS taken from the D2D version.

yes youre right the 1.4 no cd crack does work for my 1.5 version as well....
BUT !!!!
the only way I can launch the game is if I launch it from the CONFIG menu...
so I gotta click COnfig then choose a resolution and then LAUNCH GAME....
if i click on the FEAR.exe icon the game just DOES NOT LOAD.....im looking at task manager and fear.exe does pop up, but then just simply disappears and nothing happens....
but this creates a whole new problem for me since I have a 1680x1050 21 inch widescreen display and the highest resolution in the config menu is 1024x728
I can configure the resolution in the settings folder using notepad, but then soon as I launch the game through CONFIG it always sets me back to the 1024 resolution.. thus makin my game look ugly !

It isn't related to FEAR.exe, it must be related to the resolution somehow.

Doesn't seem to work for me, must be because I have the UK version of the game.

anyone tested the 1.04 exe with the new 1.06 update?

unfortunly i have only the uk version, at the moment the 1.06 update is only for the us-version available.

check www.fearhq.com!! the patch should be international, but you must have 1.05 installed!!!!

just tested it! and yes, crack for 1.04 works with 1.06!! and it doesn't matter wich language-version u got, but you MUST have patch 1.05 installed before installing 1.06!!!

you are right, updates 1.05 UK without problems.

but no wonder the cracked 1.04 still works, the original exe wasnt updated by the 1.06 patch.
