Hi,

So, when you want to participate in this kind of forum, you are interessted in gameing?

It is maybe the wrong place to talk about all things because this plattform fulfills a certian purpose: gameing and copyprotection. This involves a specific kind of language, with this language i had at first my problems....

But anyway, welcome in the forum!

English ? lol

Well, first of all a nice "hello".
Feel free to talk about anything of interest to you, but do not expect people to do your homeworks ;) And please mind the sections, chitchat is the best for things like "What music do you like most"...

Anyways, have fun, mate :)

Trunk 16-05-2006 13:00

thanks everybody,
This forum is from Germany or elsewhere?

Shodo 16-05-2006 14:49

Hi,

It is definitely not a german forum, here are just a lot of german users. Maybe this comes trough the fact this site is often mentioned in a well known PC-magazine..

Most of the german users obey the rule that this is an only english-speaking forum, I personally regard it as rude when someone posts here in german language.

I dont know where this site is hosted....

RincewindTheWiz 16-05-2006 16:11

It's an english language forum because that's the lingua franca of the computer world.

That and otherwise we poor mods wouldn't understand a thing ofcourse :D

world and business language !!!

:) It could be a world language and it is a business language in many many countries.:) ;)

Muji-FightR 17-05-2006 11:49

German ? o.O

Trunk 17-05-2006 12:37

If it's forbidden to talk about game not original, why there is a section about CD Copy Protections & Utilities ?

if you are the original cd, it's not a problem ?

RincewindTheWiz 17-05-2006 13:39

Trunk, this is a backup site. We use all kinds of methods to backup original games so we don't lose them if something happens to the original. This site exists because of the game publishers' constant attempts to prevent people to make backups of their own bought games. We just don't want people talking about illegally copying games here, they have to own them.

And in the interest of improving your english : here's a corrected version of your post :

If it's forbidden to talk about illegal games, why is there a section about CD Copy Protections & Utilities ?

if you have the original cd, then it's not a problem ?

Luciel 18-05-2006 15:49

well they say that if you know english and spanish, you can go anywhere in the world. Ironicly, i'm a spaniard, speaking english and living in london (lol).

Muji-FightR 19-05-2006 12:25

To be honest, sometimes I'm quite glad I can speak German. Not because it's popular or spread all over or so. I think it's better to be able to speak such a (well let's say difficult) language from the beginning...
And learning English is hardly difficult, isn't it ?

Unfortunately it's getting more and more racism here. People who have a degree from some college and know how to do the job won't get it because someone that doesn't look foreign wanted it too.

I think gettting a job should be dependant on how much knowledge one has about it not skincolor or where you're born.

Still I think it is kinda cool in sweden in terms of accepting foreigners but there's more and more racism building up and who knows what might happen. :(

But on the good side is the fact that most young people have no problems with foreigners and accepts them easily. So I hope that in the future (aka when I get old, foreigners will have it easier here in sweden) :)

RincewindTheWiz 24-05-2006 08:56

Since your aim is to learn english, I took the liberty of correcting your post. Is this helpful or should I stop doing it ? :D

I think it's all down to where does your language and the one you want to learn come from, for example, for a spaniard, it's a lot easier to learn italian than say german, since both spanish and italian come from latin, although that's not always the case, for example german and english are both germanic languages yet they are both very different right?

Joe Forster/STA 24-05-2006 09:19

English is kind of a cleaned up German: no sexes, almost no suffixes. Learning English is simple, no matter what language you knew already; learning German may be difficult, no matter what language you knew already. ;)

I'm told the simplicity of English partially comes from the fact that people in the British Empire, that took over a significant portion of the world, "simplified" the language with their awful grammar and pronounciation. ;)

Muji-FightR 24-05-2006 13:34

Learning German is indeed way harder than learning Spanish (not easy though), there are many Germans that do have huge problems with properly speaking their mother tongue ;)
Sure, there are always stupid people unable to speak in their native language, but in England (oh sorry, Great Britain) it's most likely not as bad at all :)

That's what I meant, it's harder to really excel in German, Russian, ... than in English...

Joe Forster/STA 25-05-2006 02:25

Some corrections:
- I was talking about non-native English speakers raping the English language to what it is now... ;)
- Not "England" (not only Englishmen but also Scots and Welshmen) but not even "Great Britain" (not only Brits but also Irishmen - at least, at this moment); correctly it is United Kingdom! :) (Oh, make that -persons, not -men! :D)

I don't agree as learning italian was way easier for me than learning english (and i can speak for most spaniards since english is a mandatory class in spanish schools).

Oh and, you forgot Gibraltar, which ain't part of the UK/GB (i think, right?) but it's a big political mess :P
