POP3 No-DVD/Fixed EXE

The last few days we received 3 submissions: Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones v1.0 [ENGLISH] No-DVD/Fixed EXE

We have not been able to determine who created this Fixed EXE and if it is working properly for the retail version of the game. It could have been taken from the Demo version of the game! But it seems to be working for a few people.

Any feedback if this EXE is working or not is welcome!

Stepes19 02-02-2006 07:15

doesnt work for me....install, paste on top of original pop3.exe, run game, and I get insert pop3 disc into another drive error. Didn't try with help of SFNightmare or SFcure, but thats what it was supposed to do right? work without these tools.

dooler 02-02-2006 08:23

Nope didn't work for me either without or even dvd inserted in the drive
NE TRICKS requred? ;)

FUNKiD 02-02-2006 08:28

Not working :(

the_spartan 02-02-2006 08:39

Same here... tried it and it didn't work...

starforce hater 02-02-2006 08:41

nope not workin'

grrrrr starforce!!!!!

[Edit by Joe Forster/STA: It's fine to hate Starforce but don't hate its developers. They're only giving a too effective answer to a question from greedy publishers!]

leezer3 02-02-2006 08:55

Very odd
With the EMEA DVD image mounted, the SF check passes, but the game then crashes with no errors etc?!
I suspect that this is a hacked version of the EMEA CD exe. Could someone please post an MD5 sum for POP3.dat- I thjink this is the 'real' file that the SF crud launches, and want to see if its any different.

Conclusion? I think this probably might work with the EMEA CD version, we shall see :)

Cheers

starforce hater 02-02-2006 09:16

By the way

by the way to the lucky person who patch the crack and works is there any other option you have done before patching the game????

Muyfa666 02-02-2006 09:26

Don't get your hopes up folks. This seem to be yet another "works for some ppl" thing. I'd love to test it thou. Won't be able to do that on my temporary GeForce2 MX-400. Hehe. I do have the original disc, what should I use to make a image, BlindWrite? I'd rather not install Alcohol cause I had problems with it in the past. I don't think my DVD-drive are capable of making a "perfect" image.

Feedback

Although I've purchased the original disc of the game, cause I'm fan of these 3 POP series :D , I've noticed that a gamefix for this game came up and I tried to reinstall the game and just see if it works. I don't know if this fix works for a specific group-release or version of the game, but I know that it doesn't work with the UK original version of the game. I get exactly the same error message as if I try to run the game with the disk not present in the drive.

Hiya mate,
It authenticates my standard EMEA DVD fine (Image & retail), so I'm assuming that it is from an EMEA version (We already know that the US version refuses to authenticate EMEA images & vice-versa). The game crashes after the protection though, so I'm looking for someone with a CD version so I can get a MD5 sum of the POP3.dat file.

As of the minute, I'm of the opionion that this file simply fixes the blacklisting, and you still have to have an image mounted for it to work- Can you try with an image mounted by all drives enabled please?

Cheers

The Starforce AMIR.DLL is still one of the imported dlls, so this exe can not work.

djsolidsnake86 02-02-2006 14:36

how is possible a no-dvd for a starforce game? however don't work!
i hope that this No-DVD will be updated with a good next-version!

jbMurdock 02-02-2006 16:10

No-DVD doesn't work. But if you have a good data-part of the alcohol image (mdf-file) try to exchange your mds-file(!) with the one from that great swiss site copybase. Works perfectly for me!!! Just mount the image in Deamon 4.03 and start the game. You don't even need sfcure to run the game.
That method also works with any other SF-protected game. You just need a complete and good .mdf and the right .mds for your image :)

And by the way:

I_Will_Never_Die 02-02-2006 16:20

That reminds me, how do I download the mds from that site? All I get from that site is the description of the file protection

jbMurdock 03-02-2006 00:11

How to download mds from copybase:

visit copybase.ch and search your game in the Database (Datenbank).
Then click the linked name of the game to view the protection details. In the upper right corner of that details-box you find a link called "DPM-Dateien". The available mds-files for the requested game are listed right under the details-box when you follow that link. Now just search your Version (language) and download the mds-file with the physical disc information (DPM-data).
Most of the mds-files posted there work great for me when I mount em in Deamon 4.03 with RMPS-Emulation enabled.
In some rare cases the optical IDE-drives of your system don't work very well with the StarForce-Protection drivers. So, if the game still wants you to "put your CD/DVD into another drive" you have to unhook your optical drives manualy for the game images to work.
Hope that helps a little ;)

scam

I think this is supposed to be some kind of a joke. this is not a fix exe it is the original file. just check the size of the file 5,385,728 bytes the same as the original one so dont waste your time on this:eek:

i have downloaded the mds but i can't mount it in daemon tools! he say: file is not accessable
???

jbMurdock 03-02-2006 07:44

You have to rename the mds-file!!! Must have the same name like the mdf!!!
Should work then :)

re:pop3 no dvd exe

any other ideas about how to get this game to work?

Joe Forster/STA 03-02-2006 08:29

Sure! Idea #1: don't bump unnecessarily; idea #2: read the FAQ and use the SEARCH button.

jabbilabbi 03-02-2006 10:32

Tried all suggested ways it "works" and no works :(

I have, afaik, a good .mdf file of the game along with a .mds file that works. However, I did give that site a try and actually downloaded all of the .mds files from each of the two sections that they dedicate to POP3. After copying my .mdf file to a test folder and trying out each .mds with it NO LUCK... Also, we havn't talked to much to those ppl you got it working. Those of you who got this crack to work, did you follow the instructions STEP by STEP. 1)Install Game Normally 2) Copy entire contents of play disc to dir (Not sure if everybody did this step, but I did) 3) Replace original .exe with cracked

As of yet, I have followed the directions given to me without straying and no sucess. Maybe it is some slight variation that works by not following the instructions.

The fact is : POP3 needs a crack that just WORKS!

WardoggOne 03-02-2006 11:38

maybe with image?

You create your own image from your own original discs!
A good mds file can be downloaded from 'copybase.ch'. You then combine this mds with your own 'mdf' that you created.
Rename the mds so it is the same as your mdf.

MD5 of U.S. CD version of POP3.dat is 3A5E592FCB8FAC8A56DCD78012A1C70B.

what is this?

Gradito 04-02-2006 12:45

Leezer wanted it, back on page 1 of the thread.

See? http://fileforums.com/showpost.php?p...5&postcount=12

I guess I should really just PM it to him.

qrpiech 04-02-2006 13:58

maybe we'll finally have the gore patch done :)

leezer3 04-02-2006 14:42

Right, thanks :)
I've got an identical MD5 for the EMEA DVD version of POP3.dat, and what this tells me is that the crack is bust :(
Why?-
POP3.dat is the 'real' executable for the game, and is executed within the SF virtual machine/ filesystem. My initial thought was that there could be different versions of this floating around for the different versions (US / EMEA & CD / DVD), and that the crack had been hacked, but would only launch a single version of this. These are identical though, so either we are missing a cracked POP3.dat or the crack is simply bull; I think the latter ;)

StarForce Effectively Killing My Interest in Buying the Games.

I have yet to try it but I imagine that it's a fluke. Seems to be. I was thinking that the most effective solution for defeating StartForce is Working with the Crap Drivers it installs on the Machine? Is this line of thinking completely wrong or unrealistic? Don't Flame the Noob with Answers like.. Sure if you want to reverse engineer it and yada-yada. I imagine that but, Just wondering if that avenue has been explored.

Within the Config Files Is there Anything Useful? GUID or the like?

Either Way until something works:
Start -> Run
D:/AMIR.EXE /drv:remove
Shipping this game back to UbiSoft with a dead cat
.:D

EMPiRE 04-02-2006 17:02

Enough comments to tell this is a dud, it will be removed and trashed

therealpepe 06-02-2006 04:22

is there no way to crack this exe ?

is there no way to crack this exe, or the other "important" files ?

Joe Forster/STA 06-02-2006 05:02

Yes, there is a way. But one can only show you the way, it is you who have to step on it.

pro_kash2005 06-02-2006 06:37

what is happening to all cracks site 1st they should check that file then post
