starforce workaround play scct and kingkong

Hi there all,

I`ve been reading alot of site`s lately. all about starforce en protection.
but i don`t see the problem i am playing scct & king kong from a back up.

the only thing you need to do is .
1: disconnect your dvd/cd players from your mainboard.
2: mount the image with Daemon manager V4.00HE
3: unload any antivirus program`s like panda antivirus, Norton.
4: disconnect network connections
5: play the game (no need to use sfcure or nightmare)

that`s all i have done and i am playing both games now.

these are my system specs,
Abit KV7 mainboard
amd sempron 2200+
nvidia 5700Ve 256mb video card
512mb ram

Joe Forster/STA 12-12-2005 05:45

Please, explain why steps #3 and #4 are necessary; have you checked that the games won't work without these? Thanks!

NetAngel 12-12-2005 05:51

i have tryed everything else you know sfcure,nightmare,sr7stop etc.
i dont know why the games play now, but when i stay connected and with panda antivirus loaded the games won`t start.

1/3/4 aint needed, dissable eide channel in device manager, mount downloadable .mds in daemon v4 instead of one you made with alcohol from original and run sd4hider (not even sure if needed, been long time since played a game like 3weeks).

copy2012 12-12-2005 14:16

Is that the mini .mds?

That would be nice:)

Anti669 12-12-2005 15:16

Can't speak for everyone, but I don't seem to need sd4hide.
Keep in mind, when using the device manager, that disabling the optical drive is not sufficient - you need to disable the IDE controller, and the drive will disappear.

To be honest I can't see why a Safedisc blocker would help much with Starforce games...

On a slightly related topic, it seems that sd4hide is no longer needed to run NFS:MW with the 1.3 patch.

dooler 12-12-2005 15:23

hmm after i disable secondary IDE Channel...POP3 still tells me to insert cd in drive....but if i unhook my cables it works fine...do need to dod ne thing else....also the mini-image for pop3 doesnt seem to work :(

WardoggOne 12-12-2005 18:23

still not worth it to us legal users we just gotta insert original disks while pirates need to do all that

nocd exe for GTASA 1.01?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
will there be one or should i keep using a 4gb image file of my game to play it?

Then i guess you are a pirate to, Because you can play the game with the original disc.
Or is it that you also want to keep the originals in good shape no scratches ect. on the disc.
For me thats the reason why i want to play the games without inserting the origanal disc`s .
simply calculating
1 game cost around 50 Euro,
1 harddisc of 200 GB cost around a 100 Euro, this is good enough for 40 game images. while 40 games cost around 2000 Euro
so for me its better to buy a new HD then buy the games again,if they are damaged.

Your post is too confusing.

Sorry for that, the reply above was just a reaction on WardoggOne reply.

I started this thread only to inform all off you how to play scct and other starforce protected games.

If this thread,is a no good then a mod can delete it

temp 13-12-2005 05:29

As i said, i cant remember if i had to use sd4hide for SC CT as i aint played in weeks any games and its confusing trying to remeber settings for all.

No to dude above it dont mean i only use a mini .mds, i still need keep the .mdf i made in alcohol, just replace the .mds it made with 1 thats on web or game still detects not real disc (not sure why or if same for all)

Also i didnt try to just dissable the individual roms in device manager as i have used a SATA HDD(s) 2+ years i simply can afford to kill the whole EIDE controler.

Muyfa666 13-12-2005 05:45

The best way to play SC:CT is still to have a legit purchased copy. I haven't tried it yet, since I always wait until there are a no-cd/dvd crack before I buy a game, but in this case, I have ordered it anyways knowing that I will have to use the disc. Someday, there might be a convenient way to play it without the DVD, but as of now - there isn't. And that's too bad.

I find it strange that no one have figured out a simple way to bypass this protection yet. There are many good crackgroups out there. This protection really must be a b*tch. Oh well.

DABhand 13-12-2005 06:11

I seen SCCT for £15 in local store. So now is a good time to buy it :P

temp 13-12-2005 06:12

Its nearly 2006 and "the best way to play games" aint with a disk in rom tray, i have 300gig HDD so i can have a lot of games installed and i dont want to hunt for and swap media all the time, i got my copy of SC-CT for £20 in pcworld as it was sold of cheap as it didnt shift at new because nobody wanted starforce crap on their pc's. (im suprised most n00bs knew this ).

Unreal 2004 etc etc all patched games after release to fix bugs and remove need for disk to be in roms, some other big game did same in last 2 weeks but i cant remember lol.

Have you tryed the steps i take (1 to 5 as i mention in my thread start)
Because i believe that most of you don`t really read the post`s but just reply on the last post reply.

Is there anyone that can confirm the way i play the games, that this work also for anyone else.
i have tryed it with scct, kingkong and prince of percia T2T these are all games with at least 50 threads and more then a hundred reply`s.

For me it works great ,
but as Muyfa666 says (Someday, there might be a convenient way to play it without the DVD, but as of now - there isn't. And that's too bad.)
My question to you is did you already tryed it?? because if you have you know that there is a way to play these games without a disc.

temp 13-12-2005 07:26

Why would i want to reread your post, its overkill, i dont need to do anywhere near that to play SC-CT, ive been playing it without my disk since Daemon Tools 4 came out, "you cant teach your granny to suck eggs"

In a few mins im going to go load up the game to see exactly how little i need do to run it, opening up case and unplugging drives is a absolute NO GO for me, id rather do without and play with the disk or not play at all.

Joe Forster/STA 13-12-2005 07:31

@NetAngel: If I may mention it, it's a bit funny to see you say "have you actually read my post?" to others when you haven't answered the question, I asked you in the second post of this thread, either... ;)

temp 13-12-2005 07:35

EDIT:

Ok im back,

1) Loaded up SC-CT's .mds in Daemon Tools 4 (all emulations are on not sure if needed but i leave on by default anyhow)

2) Went in Device Manager and dissabled the complete Nvidia ATA(EIDE) Controler (no reboot needed)

3) Clicked shortcut to game and played it.

This is what I need to do to play this game so i dont really need to do a raindance to get it to run.

Muyfa666 13-12-2005 07:45

NetAngel: If you read my post, you'd see that I do NOT own the game yet. I had friends who tried all kinds of "solutions", so that made me wait with my purchase. And as far as I read until now, the available solutions do not work for everybody. For some they work, for others not. And it's still easier to insert the DVD than to unplug IDE-cables or disable them in system manger.

You ar right sorry for that

Joe Forster/STA 13-12-2005 08:48

Well, I'm really sorry to annoy you but your test proves nothing at all.

You have Panda Antivirus. Okay. It seems to mess with games so you need to exit it before launching games. Okay. Without an antivirus software running, you're afraid to be online so you disconnect. Okay. However, have you tried:
- unplugging the Ethernet cable from your PC (disconnect by hardware rather than by software);
- exiting Panda Antivirus but staying connected (you probably won't get infected during that half a minute when you try launching a game);
- running other antivirus software (you mentioned Norton Antivirus)?

So, I still believe you haven't answered my question (completely). You see, I'm trying to collect facts into the FAQ but I can't add the information you provided because they're only assumptions (or downright misinformation?), without deeper testing or confirmation from other people...

Hi there,
1, you are right you dont have to dissable any network connection.(sorry for that but i didn`t know that before)
2, yes i must unload panda (i guess that this proggy cant work with sf protections)
3, no i don`t have another antivirus program running, i assumed that norton and panda had the same kernel running.

WardoggOne 13-12-2005 09:41

what does that have to do with anything? to play my gtasa i don't need to unplug anything

temp 13-12-2005 09:53

No issues with NAV 2005 or 2006 here i have one on this partition and other on other patition.

DABhand 13-12-2005 09:56

How much did your NAV 2006 cost buddy?

dooler 13-12-2005 10:25

its free on amazon (after rebate)

temp 13-12-2005 10:27

£0, I test Norton every year since 2003 builds, I refused to use before 2002 builds as it was bad for taking over pc.

I test builds before public beta and during and i mess up my partition many times due to this, i then get free copy of all 3 Symantic major programs on the agreement i supply norton to all my customers ( I build/fix PC's)

I only got my copies last week its normally Mid October I receive them.

1) Antivirus 2006

2) Systemworks Premier (with recovery disk) 2006 (inc normal goback etc etc premier tools like ghost and tools to lock changes to pc etc etc)

3) Internet Security 2006 (inc antivirus and parental tools)

DABhand 13-12-2005 15:01

Thats interesting, im a Symantec Agent also Grisoft agent, to sell their goods in my shop, and ive not heard a peep yet from them concerning any 2006 products. Except for AVG who i feel have great service and customer support.

I may get in contact with them about how you managed to get the beta and I never got a sniff at it this year, unlike last year :\

colinm1 13-12-2005 18:50

Can I ask, from where did you get the .mds/mdf mini -image?

Have tried everything else but still have not been able to get game(King Kong) to run.

Anti669 13-12-2005 23:12

While we're on the topic of Starforce, can anyone tell me...

Are there any Starforce protected games for which no one has been able to make a no cd fix? (Other than quite recent ones, PoP:TTT, King Kong, UFO:Aftershock etc.)

I know it's easy enough (usually :D) to get them running from an image, but creating a mini-image seems to be another matter entirely...

Muji-FightR 14-12-2005 09:41

Not cracked have also been:
GTR
GTL
Trackmania Sunrise
Bet on Soldier
... and a lot of others.
