NFS:Most Wanted Problem!!!!HELP!!
Cannot install the game because when i install directX it shows me an error and installation cannot finish...The file tha has an error is DxDiag....HELP>>>
|
I have read this problem before elsewhere!
I think you need to skip the "install DirectX" part and it works. I did that the first time and have not had any problems since!!:) |
If i skip the install then i can't finish the setup of the game...
|
Well either change the compatibility of the Setup file to windows 2000..
Or on the cd, you will see an autorun.inf file If you copy the content of the cd to a folder, change the number on the directx line in the autorun.inf to 0 It should skip DirectX install. |
The info is in other threads for this problem, obv you didnt bother to look 1st, explore cd and set install.exe to win 2000 mode thats simplist, i had same problem with demo and full game.
|
Solutions...
For setup issues, make sure that AutoRun.exe is set to Win2000 compatibility!
Create a shortcut on your desktop to AutoRun.exe on CD1... set the compatibility on the shortcut... Game should install! Use latest WHQL drivers on a non-over clocked hardware (GPU)! If over clocked, then be sure to provide proper cooling 'cause this game is going to push the limits... Also, on Hyper Threaded systems, the game's performance actually goes down... (Sad for me too!). So, use Windows NT Image Configuration Utility v4.0.1381.1… Will only work on NT based OS (Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 2003, Vista/Longhorn) NOTE: This program has nothing to do with the game's Image... Image here means an application or more precisely, .exe & .com file that is supporting multiple processors... In our case, we are talking about speed.exe! We need to patch it so it won't use multiple CPUs and believe me, it helps! No more choppy Movies + sudden hiccups during action... ImageCFG: Info Page + Download Google Search term: imagecfg or imagecfg.exe Code:
imagecfg.exe -a 0x1 "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Need for Speed Most Wanted\speed.exe"No HT enabled Processor? No Multiprocessor? DON'T try it then! |
The game i have is on a DVD and not on Cd's...

There has to be an autorun.inf or the CD or DVD wont auto start.
There is a safemode_inst.exe I think thats a safe mode installer, sorta like if you have problems use this instead. |
Have you looked in the Autorun folder?
There is an autorun.cfg also there, open it with notepad and look for DirectXVersion=9.0c Change the 9.0c to 0 |
I didn't found anything in the Autorun folder expect some icons....Oh yeah i have tried to set the autorun.exe for win2000 compability but it didn't work out...I think the game is okay because i tried installing direct9.0c from other games but it didn't work out...so the problem is with direct9.0c,,,,Help!!!
|
You cant have a legit version then, mine has the autorun.inf and Autorun folder with the autorun.cfg in it.
It is NOT a problem with DirectX at all, its the installer for the game. Others have had problems with it, and if its so much of an issue why havent you contacted the publisher? |
I'm telling you i tried installing directX 9.0c from other game's just like Bet On Soldier and i had the same problem...Please help!!!The problem is with directX 9.0c!!
|
Then your DirectX must not be installed right. Which is unfortunate since it wont install onto itself.
Again if you read the games' forum it will show many people with the same problem installing the game with the directx installation. |
@NITROUS SYSTEM
For DirectX problems try using the 'XPLite' program to fix it. Now I havent used it personally but I have heard good things about it! You can find a fully working trial version of XPLite here. You can also read more about it at the same site. Remember I have not used it personally!! But if you have directX problems it may just help you! Also you say you cannot see the 'Autorun.inf' file on your CD/DVD? This could be caused by a couple of things! Firstly try this: In Windows Explorer, go to the 'Tools' menu, then 'Folder Options', then to the 'View' tab. Now check that the Green dot is in "Show Hidden Files and Folders". Also whilst in the 'View' box, untick "Hide Extensions for Known File Types". Then click the 'Apply' button. Then near the top of the 'View' box, click the "Apply to all Folders" button. Now you should be able to see the Autorun.inf file! |
That is your problem, some other game you have played has made you install dx9c not gave you option to skip as you already have it, i had same prob as you with both demo and full game, NFS-MW demo comes with june or july dx9c and mines was oct dx9c i think F.E.A.R installed it i cant be sure i have played lot of games recently.
I didnt know NFS-MW came on dvd, on the 4cd version you simply explore cd1 (dvd will be same) and set your " AutoRun.exe " to Win 2000 mode to install the game. Others have told you to edit the dx9c part, have you even tried this yet ?. |
I would suggest downloading the very latest DirectX 9.0c from Micro$oft and, if still no luck, contacting the game publisher. As you bought the game, it's their damn duty to help you with making it work on your computer!
|
It wont work, i tried it at time i had probs, it will zoom through the dx install as it dont actually need to install as he already has it, it just flashes on screen and says done lol, he will need to do as he has been told in the 2 options, he can try 1 then the other if it fails, again i still dont see any dvd of thsi game in stores

Hello, I have a problem to with directX
When i am accepting the license agreement, i clik on next, Then i get a message: The setup will not contiue because you need to have DirectX9.0c or higher, you can download it at microsoft.com/directX. But I have already direct X 9.0C, because i play fifa06, and San andereas. Could i do something that it wont ask for this or that he dont try to check it, and i also reinstald directX9.0c several times. Thanks, |
Copy the contents of CD1 to a folder.
Go into the folder then into the autorun folder, there you will find autorun.cfg Look near the top you will see RTPatch=0 RTPatchURL=http://patches.ea.com/nfs_mostwanted/home.html RTPatchCDID=NA DirectXVersion=9.0c Change the 9.0c to 0 Burn the contents of the folder to a cd with the same label as the original, install using the burnt cd1 and use your original 2,3,4 It should install. |
DirectX 9.0c exists in several subsubsubversions. Why they don't get a (slightly) different version number so that difference will be obvious? No idea, ask Micro$oft! :(
|
The reason it wants to install 9.0c is because it adds another dll into the system.
Namely d3dx9_26.dll which doesnt come with any other version of DirectX 9.0c |
Badhand, or some one els,
Can i remove that dll file ?? Or put it out of my system ?? Thanks, |
I understand that wat you said about > DirectX9.0c into Direct0, when i have change that you said that i have to burn a new one?
Is this nessercary or, can i install it from my hardisk ? Thanks, |
Okay i have found autorun.cfg now trying the thing you said...And as for the DVD version i don't know maybe an european version or smth....Hope the thing works...
|

I was only reporting on what others were saying, ive checked more and yes there is a dvd version.
I myself bought the CD version. |
That cleared out some things!!!

Hope this will help.
This is the problem I encountered with this game: after updating directx, rebooting, installing and playing for a while, I started having some unexpected and totally casual slowdown during the game. At first I thought that my gfx (Mobility Radeon 9600 128, yes I'm a laptop owner) was dying, but after a while the game returned at its "normal speed". Then I read in this topic about Dual-Core issues. As my Laptop procio is a 3.06 HT, i tried the imagecfg trick, without luck. So I decided to try with other games which never gave me problems (PES 5, Madagascar and Painkiller Black Edition). And, surprise surprise, also Mad and PK had continuous slowdowns, while PES hadn't. I decided to reinstall my OS and after that the first and only game I installed was NFS. Again, same problem, also with other games. Today, I reinstalled Windows again; but then I tried with Madagascar and Painkiller. Guess what? No more slowdowns. I don't know if NFS modifies also System32 directory files, actually I can only think that directx dlls which come with the game aren't suitable for my gfx card. If someone experienced the same probs, please post here his opinion, I would appreciate. Oh, just the last thing: I tried setting the game at min res and min details, then at 1024x768 mid-high details and v-sync enabled: it was choppy anyway. How is it possible? -----> The game is crap, and programmers should be ashamed to consider "complete" a game like this, which is programmed with feet. Anyway, they will never see my money again, maybe next time they will concentrate more on beta-testing and less on copy-prot. |

Without going into details about my system specs I managed to play the game with all settings on maximum and the game ran perfectly. I think you are giving the game a bad review only because it doesnt run perfect on your machine? Like any game I believe it all depends on the system you are trying to run it on. ;) |
As I already said, i tried different settings and the game never ran smoothly, I don't think that a p4 3.06 HT with 1Gb RAM and a 128 Video Card isn't enough to run a game smoothly at 640x480 and min quality, don't ya think?
But maybe you prefer to talk about the crappy IA, which makes rivals stop to wait for ya, or maybe about the fact that the weather doesn't really affect the driving model. And what about the strange fact that a Punto is able to beat a Toyota Supra? You can say what you want about the 2 Underground, but they are honest games of illegal races, not a bad arcade with a heavy gfx engine and a lot of bugs; for me NFS ended with Hot Pursuit 2, a big game with beautiful cars and a lot of variety. I can even tolerate a game which is too heavy for what it really shows on screen (i.e. FEAR), but if you sum a lot of bugs which also affect pc performances in other games, are you still sure this is a decent game? An advice: go around and search the forums all over the world; you'll find a lot of people which are not completely happy of this game. If it runs well on your pc, it doesn't mean it is a well-programmed game, maybe you're just lucky. And maybe you need to open your eyes. |

And I wasnt knocking the Underground games! They were good games but I feel 'Most Wanted' is better. But how can you say they were honest games? Again cars doing unrealistic speeds through crowded city streets and performing unrealistic jumps!? Yeh real honest! I still feel it is because of your system that you have troubles with this game! I only have, P4 3.2 HT, 2gig Ram, 256mb Graphic card and like I said ran the game on Max settings but at 1024x768. Your machine should be able to run it a lot better than 'Minimum settings at 640x480'? So you have a problem with your system somewhere! Again you are criticizing a game because of the machine it is running on! Quote:
I only tried to say that you should not criticize a game simply because it doesnt run well on your machine! And 'Yes' I am still sure it is a decent game! You just have to know how to play!! Now for my advice: Buy yourself a football (soccer ball) if the computer games are to hard for you! :p |
The world is full of negatives nowadays, not like when we were kids when you went outside and played and if you had a comp you played it for an hour or 2.
|
Grumpy, I can see you avoided to touch some of the points (IE driving model and performance balance betwenn much different cars) I underlined, but it doesn't really matter.
As you have said, for 1 person who complains there are 1000 who have fun, but this seems just a good excuse. Once upon a time, there weren't all these problems with games; I can remember the days spent with Quake II, when I was just a child and had no knowledge of the pc; I never had problems. (and there was windows 98 besides!!!!) Yes, today there are son many hardware configs that it's not possible to test the game with every1, but it's not a good thing to think only o users who have the latest gfx card, the latest procio, 3kgs ram and the latest drivers for every damned piece of hardware they have. The two undergrounds had the same probs of most wanted about playability, but, as I said, thy were honest, cause they tried to reproduce one specific kind of situation (----> illegal races) and they almost completely succeeded. But then, what NFSMW pretends to be??? It has dream cars, which run just like a 15000 euros Fiat Punto; it has customization, but so restricted that Rock'n'Roll Racing is more permissive; it has circuits which seem always the same, and the weather conditions don't affect driving. Oh, and police IA remained the same of Hot Pursiut 2, if not worse. One consideration about "realism", pleeze, don't make me laugh. If you run like Michel Vaillant with a monstrous car, youl'll still see rivals biting the asphalt after you. If you run like a drunken monkey with a standard car, you'l be still able to beat a dark gray Supra with yellow & red flames and every type of tuning allowed by this (poor) game. This is the essence of modern games: no trial & error, just go ahead to the end, with rivals waiting for you to beat them 2 metres before the finish line. Easy gaming for no-brain gamers: that's what it is, nothin' more, nothin' less. Grumpy, if you still feel I talk on the wings of envy cause I've not an high-end pc, that's just your prob. I solved mine bringing back the pc ver. to the store and renting the xbox one. It's still crap anyway, just 3-4 days of multiplayer and then back to the store, again and forever. You know, I'm not old (20) but I started playing "seriously" when I was 7, I've never considered gfx a matter of interest and I prefer running a game at 640x480 fluently then at 1024x768 with some slowdowns. But when you can't have fun cause programmers & beta testers are just incompetent, and publishers pretend to condemn piracy while they get 50 euros a game and they don't get ensured about the quality of the game, then I sit down, stop playing and just look at the sunset. Last point. NO. I repeat: NO, my laptop hasn't any sort of problem, except for bad coded NFSMW. After formatting 2 TIMES (I made the mistake of installing that CRAPPY game 2 times), it returned to its golden age, which started in july (last OS reinstalling before these days) and would have continued but it couldn't, thx again to NFSMW. End of the story. |
