just for your information, the official 1.0.4.0 patch for quake 4 removes the cd/dvd check, so no need for a nocd patch :)

Getteing faster and faster. Quake 4 is out for how long? 4 or 5 weeks? I'd like to know why Activision spent money for a copy protection at all... or are there any statistics saying that most of illegal copies are made within the first month?

I assume this game has been such a great financial success so the publisher doesn't care about pirates anymore. More precisely: the costs of making customers, unsatisfied about of the game not working because of the copy protection, happy is now more than the (assumed) loss, made by pirate copies. ;)

UNREAL makers also did same with patched update for Unreal 2004, now no disk needed.

The CD Key Authentication is still there I think as it wants to connect to the net still, so you can either block it in your firewall or let it 'phone home'.

I wish all games would do this..use online cd key authentication (even in a single player game) rather than some crappy copy protection that is only going to be eventually bypassed anyway.

I agree tottally with you Talus, but they wont do that because they know theyll loose business with people that dont have internet and also it can be defeated, look at half life 2.

@herny: Have you read the whole thread?After installing the official update patch V1.0.4.0 you don't need a crack, because you can play the game without cd/dvd !!!

That "crack" removes the keycheck, because you still need a legit key to play. So maybe this crack is more like a warez thingy, as I can't think of any reason for owners of a legitimate copy to bypass the keycheck...

I removed the hint to find the crack, because the crack only removes cd-key check. That's against the board rules !!!

NoDVD 1.04
I updated Quake 4 to 1.04 and used the NoDvd Quake 4.exe ,1.0.
And it runs verry well, i bought an official version of Quake 4, so i have no trouble with the key |

What 'AndyMutz' is trying to say is you dont need to use a NoCD crack once installing the latest official update! The update removes the CD Check. ;) |

To play online with 1.0.4 just a few steps are required:
1. Buy GAME 2. Install the game (using the serial IMUS-TNOT-TALK-WARE-Z) 2. Join a server 3. Play! |
You know, to play 1.0.4.0, only one step is required: BUY THAT GAME!
If you bought the game, you would just run it and join some server... no gamespy, no editing, no strange keyboard combinations... |
