Starforce 3.5 as protection and you have cracked it within days.

Brothers in Arms nearly the same.

Are the newer versions easier to crack or is it just luck?

I think it goes to show that with a bit of application and know how, NO-CD's can be made for most games.

Personally these fixed images are about as worse as using real cd's, you almost have to do read through a thesis before you get them going LOL

Aaahhh the old days, NO-CD's came out almost the same day as release

I suspect it's nothing to do with these newer versions being 'easier' to crack, but rather that Reloaded (The only Starforce cracker group) only have so much time etc, and so only some games get done.

The sniper crack will not work.When I run the cracked exe,I got an error Message:"Der Einstiegspunkt Restore Last Error konnte in der kernel32.dll nicht gefunden werden".

What is wrong? :confused:

Yeah, the game doesn't run under Windows 95/98/ME. Read the minimum system requirements.

@derte245: Where have you downloaded the game?

@GLH: Where have you seen that derte245 has downloaded the game ? :p

And to answer your question: get a Hex Editor, open the EXE, find RestoreLastError and change it to SetLastError. This should allow you to run the game on Windows 2000.
Of course, if Win9x is not supported, changing this does not mean the game will work on these Windows versions all of a sudden ;)

I use Windows 2000.

there are about 15 people i know confused on this issue..

some say the game wont run under win 2k others say it will..

so I ask.. does the fixed exe work or not...? or does it just work for some systems and not others..?

In this case, it's possible that the crackers released a no-CD patch that would work under Windows XP only. (They didn't test it with Windows 98/ME/2000 or didn't even care about those OS'es... :( ) But, with the original, uncracked executable, the game does run under Windows 98/ME/2000, right?!

It's an easy conclusion coming from the fact that the only known crack for the game is part of the RELOADED release which came out recently. As is the case with Brothers In Arms. Kind of a coincidence that the only known SF cracker group releases two cracked SF games within a week and our friend here uploads the no-CDs for them in about the same order and time frame, isn't it?

I guess starforce is going to change eveything
 

I play this game with my new drive and it spins all the time somebody "please fix the backup nocd" before my new rom wears out..lol

I see that atari is going with starforce as well..

the good days are gone forever....

I' m not a programmer.
I play Sniper Elite on a Windows ME System.
The GWC fixed exe doesn't work (yes, it's only for XP).

As The-S-Owl already wrote you must change 'RestoreLastError'
to 'SetLastError' with a hex editor.
I've done it and it works on my ME system.
I can play without the DVD.

I use code-genie (use google).

It's important that the end of the line looks like this:

....SetLastError........In (this is working)

....SetLastError....Initia (not working)

....RestoreLastError....In (original from GCW)

I don't know if this works also for 2k (but probably).

I am not sure about, but maybe it's necessary to install
Microsoft.NET Framework 1.1 to make it run.

I wish you would upload that fix
 

I have tried but might have got it wrong...

i have framework installed and updated..

will try again ..per your instructions..if it works on me..it should work on 2k

2007 now m8, 2005 was the last post, you're posting in a dead thread
also theres tools on gcw i believe that do the setlasterror thing
you simply change the RestoreLastError in the cracked exe to SetLastError, making it non win xp dependant... making sure to pay attention to padding, termination and so on
your highlight is SetLastError which is right, so whats the problem?
