Halo 3 to hurt PS3 sales?
 

i have read a few weeks ago from two sources..game informer and gamespot that microsoft plans to release its flagship game(Halo3) during the same time as the PS3. they think that buy doing this, its gonna hurt the PS3 launch. as for me i dont quite understand that. heres why, if i have $400-500 in my pocket and if i want a PS3...im gonna go for the ps3. i probably would careless if they ship their halo3 game during the initial launch of the ps3. im just sayin how is it gonna affect ther person already planning to buy a ps3? i would understand it if that person has a ps3 and a xbox 360 and two flagship games come out during the same time...for example halo3 for the xbox 360 and lets say(im just assuming here) MSG4 or GTA. in this example i can see why now that the person who have to choose between two games if he/she had enough money to buy one game for either the ps3 or the xbox 360. i dont wanna talk sh*t on microsoft...sense im pretty sure ill be buying both systems anywayz sense i dont have no more credit cards(but thats another story..haha). i just wanna know how that is accomplished ...that a game can hurt the launch of a competitor's console. any insights on this is welcome :)

what they are saying is that if u go in to pick up your ps3.. you see halo3 with "everyone" going to get it.. u pick it up have a look and find u "need" the game.. they feel that this could be enough to pesuad people from buying ps3s and instead buying X360 along with halo3.. i believe that is thier understanding..
i kinda understand.. i will prolly end up getting both but what one i get first is a coin flip!!

as for me they can throw ads left and right cause if i have the money needed for the ps3 ..im not gonna buy halo3 cause then its gonna take me longer to buy the ps3 ...i would rather buy the ps3 at launch and when i have enough money buy halo3 or any other game for that matter. i guess some people are easily persuaded...lol. dont get me wrong ..i plan to buy both machines anywayz...i dont need no ads or persuasion ..i will get the game when i have money ..simple is that :) . but i can see ur point and it does make sense now. i can see the love that Gates has for Sony..haha.

I'm gonna Pass on Both At least Temporarily on PS3 Why?
As you all are aware of Famous $ony with their Machines when it first launches on the market..Laser Crapping out or Drive getting stuck or god knows what..
Price ain't a problem but defective machinery will be, which I refuse to deal with..I say about maybe 4-5 generations down I'll get PS3..
As for Halo 3 Never cared for H1-2 so I'm not missing out and I have to know what the Xbox 360 is capable of meaning if it does same type of Capability of Xbox 1 with the modchip intacted etc..People know what I'm talking about with Emu's and etc.. :)

i hear ya loud and clear on that issue of the lasers crapping out. as for halo3 missing up with sonys launch..i dont know about that one. especially if u got those die hard fans for the ps3 leading the way ...i think sonys launch is gonna do real good..with regards to the pricetage on that badboy. i for one dont care for halo that much ...my friends play it day in and day out using my XBL and xbox..haha. anywayz.....sony is gonna have great titles at launch as well...which will even the battle with their good old friend at microsoft.

Guys this is great news for us.. the more competition the more it will take the prices down..

I dont know, To me Halo2 was a disappointment, I got pretty mad at the end when it said "to be continued" :mad: . I dont see it hurting PS3 at all.

I really didnt even play either Halo 1 or 2 much. Itll probably have a good day or maybe even week, untill someone beats it and posts the ending somewhere for all to see.

i dont see how halo3 is gonna affect the launch of the ps3 at all. i guess microsoft is either too bigheaded or there just narrowminded...haha.. thinking that their flaghship is gonna crimple sales of the ps3. i seriously doubt its gonna affect the ps3 at all. i think better shut up cuase im sure the ps3 is gonna have great titles at launch...i for one am waiting for debateable bad ass game...u know which one...KILLZONE! :D

I don't even know why people like Halo? I hated it...and i'd rather play any FPS on the PC.

i think bill gates and his other staff were high on some good sh*t to think a single game like halo3 would diminish the ps3 sales..haha...if they only could smell their feet and wake up to reality...lol. but seriously here, lets be realistic i dont think sony has to worry about launching their console along side with their arch nemesis's game. sony has to worry about what the pricetag is gonna be on this high performance machinery :D

I'm hoping Socom 3 will have more effect on the Xbox 360 then Halo 3 on PS3. Socom 3 is gonna be huge and you'll be able to connect the PSP with it playing as team bravo. So i'm buying a PSP instead together with Socom 3 and SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo for PSP.

I actually just started playing this game(Killzone)and you know what? It isnt bad at all. If a beefed up version of this launches with the PS3 i dont think anyone will care about Halo3. I was a real big fan of Halo but me and alot of other people got mad at the way they broke up the game into two parts just so they could sell it to us twice. In fact i beat Halo2 in about 2 days campaired to a week or so with the original. I bet they wont be as many Pre orders for Halo3 as they were Halo2 ;) .

if the actual gameplay is gonna be like the "debateable" footage at E3 ....then i think KILLZONE 2 is gonna reign supreme..this game just phreakin rocks..so with that said the ps3 is gonna do just fine.

I personally feel that was pre-rendered stuff. Maybe in a couple of years, we'll be seeing playable stuff like that on the next-gen systems, but highly doubtful at launch - never mind before hand! :eek:

yeah that was just an FMV...the gameplay won't be exactly like that but it will be very good, hopefully as good as Ghost Recon 3's graphics and that was real Xbox360 gameplay...but that still doesn't put me off buying a PS3

i was phreakin droolin over killzone demo that they showed...if its anything like that in real time(or maybe that was in real time? :cool: ) halo3 is gonna be no comparison...im sorry but thats the way i see it righ now..now im judgeing all shooters games based on that awesome demo.

never had an x box and never will ,,, ps2 has entered my realm after ps1 and now the long awaited ps3 will sit pride of place next to my ps2 lol

i am pretty sure there are thousands of ppl out there just like me that dont give a flying fek about x box and will grab a ps3 as soon as they arive

im not trying to dis the halo3 game...its gonna be a good game..theres no doubt about that. its just that microsoft is really pushin that its gonne be the game that will crush the ps3. i dont see that happening at all.

and also i just read that sony will drop the price of its current console(ps2) to a merely $99 which will disrupt sales of the xbox 360. and if that happens sony will launch their ps3 in 2007 to have a super kick ass titles at launch......so they can layeth the smack down on their candy *ss. dont get me wrong i like both next gen consoles and im very sure theyre gonna be in my living room as soon as they come out.

Nah - I think it's human nature to want the latest and greatest thing - so although some will switch over the price drop, I don't personally think it's gonna do too much damage.

Also, I think people will be more cautious over the PS3 on launch. I know nobody who is still on their 1st PS2 as they've broken down etc, so now, even people not connected or into the scene in any way (or at least those whom I know) think the PS2 is pretty cheap and nasty through word-of-mouth by others - so I think many will be holding out a few months to see if any hardware changes or problems arise before putting down their hard-earned cash.

Therefore, giving Microsoft free-will with next-gen customers for about a year (if PS3 was to launch in 2007), I think will be a big mistake. This is just my opinion and some will buy PS3 as it's a PlayStation, but I for one will not be purchasing a PS3 until around 12 months after launch as I know just what Sony are like with their early console revisions (v1-4 for example) :(

agreed on the 12 month wait !!! iron out the impurities n all but just to say lufcfan ,i am on my first ps2 still !!! granted its a v7 but now ya cant say ya dont know n e 1 on their 1st un he he :p

Oh hell man i will probably be one of the first people in line :). I'm guessing the PS3 will be harder to crack than the PS2 so there's not going to be any modchips available for at least a year two. I'll just purchase a extended warranty, that way if the first batch screws up i'll be covered for the first 2 years.

as for me im gonna be in line waiting to purchase the ps3...and i for one agree thats it gonna have alot of issues concernin laser problems and what not, but im still getting one. and after a year or two ill buy another one and i can sell the first one that i bought. i just dont hope that the ps3 will launch in 2007 if xbox 360 does a complete 180. although if sony decided to launch in 2007, then it will have a stronger launch library i say.

As I say, I will eventually get one, but not at first - as I just think it'll be a complete disaster waiting to throw money at after 6 months when the BD/DVD/CD laser goes t*ts up :(

I'm gonna get a 360 at launch, but Sony are ar*eholes, and when they learn to use some decent parts, then they'd get mine, and many other peoples custom earlier.

I don't like the idea of waiting for my PS3, but I hate the idea of the cheap 1st revision parts going even more... :(
