God of War+GT4 Backup
 

Hi,

What program are plp using to backup these games. I use RNM for all dvd5 backups, yet not sure for dvd9.

I've heard dvd decrypter is a recommended one for dvd9 games like GT4, etc.

I have just got a liteon drive (external) sohw1653sx dual layer burner. However, i used decrypter to make a iso from the two originals, yet when i attempt to burn them back to dl disc, it gives me a message stating that the drive cannot be accessed due to being locked or something. I can Retry, ignore or cancel this message but i dont want to continue with the burn as i dont want a $6 coaster.

What does this mean and how can you stop it from showing?

Btw, i patched the isos with Toxic patcher as well

Its the Sonic DLA. I had the same problem. Disable it and retry.

Stick With Sonic Record now max..I just finished Backing up God of War and Tested out the Backup and Works like a Champ.. :D

It may depend on the drive. My LG burner refuses to burn DL games with Sonic DLA enabled.

You know lately, I'm running little slow..Isn't Sonic DLA a Program?
I have Sonic RNM 7.22 program on Disc and I just install that one and nothing else..

Yeah, Sonic DLA (Drive Letter Access) is a software that allows you to drag and drop files to a rewritable disc turning it into a virtual hard-drive. I think Adaptec had a software simular to this called Direct CD back in the day. Sometimes they clash with certain media and software.

Yeah, I got that..I like this Better than Drag to Disc(Formely By Adaptec Called Direct CD)On Easy CD Creator 5 and up to now EZCD 7.5..
I just backed up GT4 and works like a champ..
Hm, I wonder Xenosaga Pt.1 will work with this Patch? :confused:

Sonic DLA
Direct CD (easy cd, roxio)
Nero INCD

It's all software that creates CD in a special (hard drive like) format called UDF. All of the above software can create problems & conflicts with other software. I say if you don't make UDF format CDs then dont install it. If you use if rarely (like me) then stop it from loading at startup and just load it manually when needed.

It will save you from many headaches in the future

Personally When I'm about to burn CD or DVD I disable the Roxio since I do use Both of Sonic DLA and Roxio Drag to Disc..But sonic No problem for me..Each his own.. :eek:

So i do you disable this Sonic DLA?. I have RNM 4.5 and Sonic 7.0, and the problem occurs when using decrypter for me.

Shall i forget decrypter and make the iso and burn it using Sonic 7.0 instead.

Actually I realized something last night..I installed Sonic RNM for someone and after installing it was attempting to install Sonic DLA so I cancelled the installation for Sonic DLA..MAybe you should try that..
Also Make sure Firmware is up to date..
Little off the Subject but Earlier when I used Plextor 716A on the Sonic RNM I only had the option of Max Burn Speed or 1x Burn till I upgraded the Firmware then BOOM and I was able to burn on any speed I want it..

warlock --good link..thanx, but i DONT have a dual layer yet. can it be put on the hdd after the iso and patch job suggested in that link?

I think it must be flattened to DVD5

how to flatten it? do it gotta rip and cut stuff out? can u point me to a tut pls? ---> then it'll work on hdd?

Hey Bud: Dont get worked up..I misread your Post..

Both GT4 and GOW can be played in their entire full dvd9 forms with the latest patched HDL.

All you have to do is:

Use DVDDecrypter to make a full dvd9 ISO.

Use Winhiip to put that ISO to your ps2hdd.

Use the latest patched HDL (whether it be via exploit or burnt onto a disc) to play your games.


No flattening needed anymore.

ok the patch i got :hdl dual layer patch r2
has a .ips ext, the ppf o matic i been using is looking for a .ppf. do i need a difft patch prog? if so what 1?..
->next plan, i got the toxic patcher, but that looks like its for patching the game right? so what am i patching, the game or the hdl? if i patch the game do i need to patch the hdl--or-- if i patch the hdl, do i need to patch the games?..lotta ??'s i know.

You dont need to patch anything. Just download the "fully patched HDL" .elf from www.exploitstation.com and boot it however you boot your hdl elfs.

got it. thanks. guess ill have to do some searching tho cuz i started to get into the whole elf thing like 6 mos ago, it got a little complicated and i really had no good use for the whole exploit deal at that time anyway, dont really remember much about it-- ill learn, but is there any other way to play gt4 on hdd w/out the exploit? cuz 1) im lazy and a procrastinator, and 2) gt4's the only dvd9 i got now anyhow

Or if you have a way to boot backups make the hdl.elf into a bootable ps2 disc and run it that way.

thats what im sayin tyler..i dont know how too create the disc image from the elf. ive got the patch'd elf and the older hdl image (from the 1 ive been using), so i need to know how to create img from that elf file, or just patch the hdl img i already have. come on brother--id really hate to have 2 screw w/ that whole exploit thing, whats next?

btw-gt4 coming out as only 4.94 gb..that right?

i got gt4 image on the hdd, but im stuck. that "fully patched hdl" wont boot, i think its a bad image..ive never had a prob booting any good disc b4, its not the media im using cuz ive used it for difft games b4 w/ no problems. the fully patch'd hdl iso is only 1.something mg's, my old hdl is like 20g's, i think its a bad image. any other download sites?

That ISO is good Ive tested it myself. You could try injecting a 100mb dummy in there.

i tried w/ a 14 and a 73 mg dummy, maybe im doing it wrong (its been awhile), i opened the iso w/ winiso, added a 73mb mpg and thats it right? dont need to change the file ext of the dummy do i? im up to 3 coasters..at least theyre cd's. and does the dummy need to be b4 the cnf/elf, or after, does it matter?

Well if your laser isnt up to it then you could try burning it to a DVDRW with a 100mb dummy. That way you dont get anymore coasters. Heck Im bootin that ISO off a cdr without dummies or anything without probs.


Either that or just try and figure out the exploit and use the hdl.elf inside the iso for it.

its NOT the laser, i ve now tried it in mode 1 9660 --which is what comes up when i click burn image->that.iso, ive tried it in mode2/xa..both w/ 195mb dummies. no go. does it matter WHERE the dummy goes into the iso, cuz when i add it it goes to the end. burn the disc, put it into the comp drive and open it it comes up in the order of comedy centrl (dummy).mpg ->elf ->sys cnf

Well i dont know what to tell you man cause I dont need to use the dummy.

Well it depends on your particular ps2. But mine will read either +RW or -RW's.

well the lasers being a little picky tonight, 2 tries to boot my other 2 hd cds--but they do boot and i think theyre like 20 mb. btw if i hadnt said it yet, the last dummy was 195bmb. i try not to swear on here, but man im gonna have to f*ck w/ that exploit bu))shti pain in the ass
