Can't uninstall GTR !!!
Can anyone help me with removing my old GTR installation completely?
I've just bought the game, but it can't run since the old key I used still somehow is in the system. Please advise.... |
so let me get this correct, you have just bought the game but the version you used to have is still in the system? Is that what you are saying?
|
Yes, thats what i'm saying. I got the files here from gcw, but never got it to work. But somehow the uninstallation didn't remove the old key :(...

Suggestions? |
I think we know the story.
Let me try :P "I downloaded the game and tried it, I liked it now I bought it with my hard earned cash, but somehow the old key is in the computer somewhere and keeps trying to use it. OMGzor how can I play with my legit game now" :P Try looking in the registry. Goto START> RUN >Regedit In new window, browse to the following HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE (GAME PUBLISHERS NAME or GAME NAME) Perhaps in there you will find the old key, just delete the entry or the Game's entry completely not the whole HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE or SOFTWARE one :P |
Or delete the old game folder, and check your My Documents folder incase anything there was left behind.
|
use "regedit" in command line
delete in windows reg HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\SBDT AB (there is the CD-key) |
@Dabhand
Personally I would have let him figure it out himself!! But I guess thats why I am known as 'Grumpy'! You say the Warez kiddies annoy you but then you go and help one? :confused: Give them nothing, take them nowhere! ;) |
hmmm now we have yet another 'Monty Burns'!! That makes 3 here at Fileforums! Ahh but the 'Old and Wierd' one will always be the only 'One'! :D

Yeh he only bought it as he couldnt get the other one to work! ;)
|
hehehe that is probably 100% true :P
|
I agree with many points raised here. But like DABhand said how many ppl actualy buy a game once they have had a warez version because its a good game ? (not many as we know). Thats asuming he did replace the "naughty" version with a store bought and paid for version. (and hasnt just got hold of another "naughty" version). You know the saying = a Zebra dosent change its stripes :D
edit the two other posts were not there when i posted :p |
Ahem, yeh right!
Our savior plays with a loaded gun. Will he save us, is he the one? :confused: |
This is what the original poster said:

If in fact he did buy it, he has only bought it as he couldnt get the version he had to work! No-one would purchase a game then buy another copy because the first purchased one did not work! You would return or swap the one that didnt work from the place of purchase! ;) |
Did he? Somehow all I see is about how the old key is stopping him from using his bought one.
|
Yes he did! :p

@joppe
Just go and read the Forum Rules! They have now been placed at the top of each forum for people like you to clearly see before you start typing and putting your foot in your mouth! :rolleyes: And as far as lightening up, they dont call me Grumpy cause I'm happy! :p |
I like to call him Victor.
But in reality Grumpy is an Old Woman who complains over the price of beans in 1 shop to the other "Listen young Lad, these same beans are 1 pence cheaper in that other store, I want satisfaction young man" - in quivery voice |
Hmmmm, I dont eat beans! They make you f**t! ;)
