I just bought the game Brothers in Arms, and when my computer loads up the game after a little loading, all i get is a black screen and i can hear my mouse cursor selecting options because i assume i am at the title screen... is it a bug? or is it my video card? anyone have any ideas? thanks.

If you're having problems with your original game, ask the game publisher/manufacturer or see the official game forum. Also, there's a 1.02 update for this game available. Have you installed it?

Joe

i saw the patch but it mentioned it was for online and lan play so i figured it wouldnt help... but ill try and get in touch with the publisher.

It is helpfull if you write what hardware and drivers you have. It seem to be driver problem(Forceware/Catalyst). Try to set all values on default in your graphicmenu and try again. Or install a new driver (most betadriver make problems too)! If you hava a geforce 4 mx or lower than no chance. This cards will not supported by the engine.

Is this game running on the unreal engine, if so it seems one of/some of the .ut files is corrupt.

Reinstall the game and try again :)

DABhand 19-03-2005 11:36

Oh wait just seen your GPU (graphics processing unit)

It may not be upto spec.

/me goes checks

i get this problem as well

OS: Windows XP 5.1 (Build: 2600)
CPU: AuthenticAMD PentiumPro-class processor @ 2094 MHz [559385411584.000000 0] with 1023MB RAM

DABhand 20-03-2005 09:09

Yours is a fault from the game engine itself, it doesnt wont to start up, which could mean faulty .ut files.

Unreal Engine games were bad for this.

I have this very same problem!! anyone got a solution?!

TheGroom 24-03-2005 04:26

I had a similar problem, although no money passed hands if you know what i mean, there was a uharc.bat in the dir above system which extracted all the correct utx files. I would like to know if the retail version uses uharc as it is a "not for commercial use" program.

It seems if the version number is null - it's because the files need to be extracted

DABhand 24-03-2005 04:52

Your gonna get a ban for talking about rips which is a warez issue.

GLH 24-03-2005 07:45

@TheGroom: Enjoy the ban!

I recently bought a new monitor (17" pro lite TFT) and when bought i was told it supported all the resolutions i asked about and the HZ to). However when i came to play Vampire the masquerade i had the exact problem you had. Black screen but knew it was meant to be the game menu screen. The problem was my Graphics card was chucking out a resulution with a hz my monitor diddnt support. Are you using a TFT ? It isnt always a GPU problem. The easy way you could check it out would be to use a normal CRT monitor with the game that supports the 3 main resulutions and see if you can see the menu. I had to go and buy yet another new monitor (and scream at the guy who told me my old monitor supported resulutions @ hz it diddnt  . If you are using a TFT let me know as there are a couple of things you can try. Providing your system is up to spec to run the game of course. (i had 3 games where the problem you described happend and knew it wasnt my pc as it was well above the recomended spec. Therefor it wasnt hard to work out it was my TFT.

I'm using Pentium 4 2.4 GHz, 512MB DDR, ATi Radeon 9200 SE

DABhand 04-04-2005 07:27

I still think one of the .ut or .utx files is corrupt IMHO.

CrazyNate 06-04-2005 07:16

Not quite acurate
