The Sims 2 University Update

I made from my sims 2, 4 cd version 1 dvd.

When i install The Sims 2 University, it install very well (dvd) but @ the end of the install he's going to patch the sims 2.

When it starts patching it asks for cd4, but i dont want that.
So i put my sims 2 dvd into the pc, but it still ask for cd 4 :(

Is their a way to trick the patch or to remove it?

Sounds clearly like a bug.
Waith for the update by EA Games and/or submit the bug to the theme!

Gt4kill3r 05-03-2005 12:57

Yes it happens because patch engine in looking 4 label from cd4. I've made 4 images from my cd's using alcohol and put them on DVD. So i don't need to use any crack, mini-image or no-cd.

LOL

Why dont ya patch before manually???

Re}university

All sims games when installing new expansion packs have worked this way. It's not a bug or a simple patch to update before or after you install...

They want to make sure you have legal copies of the games(the cds) both the previous version as well as the new expansion.

When cd #4 of university is done installing it asks for cd#1 and then it asks for the cd from the 1st sims 2 game(gets info from it, to verify i'm guessing) then asks for cd #1 from university again so it can finish anfd you can play..

When nightlife comes out this fall it too will do this same process, but it *should* only ask for a cd from the previous expansion to verify and finalize(or it might ask for the original sims 2 cd. i forget its been so long since i installed sims 1 and expansions).

I would like to know this myself. If I can't update the game by using a converted 4CDs to 1 DVD installation, then there is no point on going thru all the trouble converting the installation discs. This is just gay and plain stupid...

dontbugme 08-03-2005 04:27

If you have a no-cd crack:
replace the crack for the original exe

JediKnight 08-03-2005 06:43

no, I don't have a no-cd crack. I followed the tutorials on this forum to convert the install discs to DVD. The game installation works (both sims2 and university), but the game update does not (keeps asking for Sims2 CD4).

I am even trying to put both games in the same DVD if possible.

Dytexx 08-03-2005 06:47

Simply insert your original CD4 for the update then.

Grumpy 08-03-2005 06:49

@Jedi Knight
Read "Beetlejuice's" post #5 in this thread, I think it explains the problem correctly! Basically you need to use the original discs to finish installing the updates! ;)

JediKnight 08-03-2005 09:10

That's what I wanted to re ad, thank you. I won't burn the DVD then.

Need help on Sims 2 Update problem

I have a 4 cd version of the game and i cant instll the 1.1 Sims 2 update.
When i run the update, it asks me for the 4th cd and when i put that one in it still does not go on with the update but instead it still asks for the 4th cd?!
Does anyone knows why is that and is there a way to solve that problem, if so please help me.
By the way, i havent installed any patches nor cracks by the way. Just a fresh installed game.

Thx, mica

create yourself a patcher_iso and use this when patching. for even more fun, replace the ts2upd on the expansion disk with a dummy exe ( can be a simple C "int main(int, char**) {return 0;}" program)

make your patcher_iso with these files (maybe some less) from your original install disks
- AutoRun/autorun.cfg
- TSData/1.0.0.932
- TSData/Res/Objects/objects.package
- autorun.inf <<- make sure that entry [Special] Disk=?? matches the disk number object.package was on
- compressed.zip <<- only TSBin/1.0.0.932 && TSBin/Sims2.exe

mount this before patching.

Sims 2 University Problem

:( When I (my daughter of course) start The Sims University, for a short time the University logo pops up and then the (main game) Sims 2 logo loads and its movie starts.
In the Main menue I only can choose between the 3 (main game) neighbourhoods (Merkwürdighausen etc. in German), the University neighbourhoods are nowhere to be seen.
Seems there's nothing different from the main game.
Is that correct? Or did we fail in any way?
As University overwrites or deletes Sims 2-savegames we have installed maingame and addon on my own PC first to test and have a look at it before she does it on her PC.
University will be launched with the Sims2EP1.exe, Sims 2 with Sims2.exe and both games are NOT installed in the same folder. It was also version-updated while installation.
I personally have no knowledge of/interest in playing Sims-games, but my daughter asks:
Can anyone tell me what's wrong? Or isn't it?

I am having almost the exact same problem..;)
I bought the sims 2, 4 cd's. so there can't be anything wrong with that.
But when i try to instal univerisity or pets with daemon tools,
the installating goes smootly but after that it asks for cd 4 sims 2.
I put it in and it starts to update but than it has an error and quits the
installation. How can i prevent or make this update work? And if this is a bug, how can i fix this? Please help, because i have tried everything and it is so annoying!!!:(
