How to use mini-images?
 

A game looks for a disk in the drive it was installed from, so you have to mount mini-image in this drive letter which is simply not possible b/c this drive letter is already taken by the real drive itself.

So it looks like you have to install the game _from the full disk(s) image(s)_, then unmount this image(s) and mount the corresponding mini-image to the same drive letter. Am i right? If yes, then this is not very user-friendly... :)

Most games check every available drive for the correct cd, but if it doesn't you can do it that way. Or you could change the drive letter in the .ini file or the registry, etc.....

Well, not one of these methods seems to work with SC Pandora Tomorrow with english version mini-image provided on GCW. Oh well... :(

So what you are telling us is that you did a full install of sc (uk version), removed the cd from the drive, mounted the mini image and the game says that it cannot locate the correct cd rom ?

Yep. SCPT to be exact. Same thing with doing image from the disk and trying to install it from that image.

Strange. I personally don't have the game, but some friends used the mini image from gcw without problems.....Have you already tried a no cd/ fixed exe ?
Or is the error about emulating software ?

NoCD works OK, but it's for offline version only. Online v1.31 hasn't been cracked IIRC.

I see. If it isn't a problem of emulation software detection: Have you tried doing a mini image yourself with MIR. Maybe somethings is wrong with the file you downloaded...

It was archived. If it is some kind of file corruption then it probably would give a CRC error when unpacking.

Come on. I am not new here. I know it is a rar archive. Nevertheless something seems to be wrong either with your config, your drivers, or the hell knows what...(every comp is different). But why not start from the beginning ? If the game works with the original discs and it works with a nocd, but it doesn't work with the image, which definitely works on other machines, why not doing an image yourself and try it, before starting a (maybe useless) deep analysis of system specs ?
Do a mini image yourself. If it doesn't work, plz tell us your system specs, os, emulating software, virtual drive software, etc....

It was my first experiment with mini-images. Works -- OK, great. Not -- OK, will still be using original CD for online. Unfortunately, no time to do mini-images myself :)

I might try mini-images for some of my other games though sometime.

Just a moment. You are now telling me that the mini image works. Only online verification fails ????? Is that what you are telling me ????

No, mini-image doesn't work, but nocd crack for offline version works OK. It's online version that needs original CD to work.

Just one question: Do you really own the original ??
I ask this because, using MIR to create a mini image doesn't take that long, and can only be de done from an original. Secondly, the mini image is supposed to work as long you have an authentic cd key for online play.....

Whatever it takes i don't have the time for this now. CD key is used when the game is running, but it just doesn't start with the mini-image.

What tool are you using to mount the image ?

Latest version of Daemon Tools. Been using it for testing of DVD-backups for a while. Thought about giving a try Alcohol, but again don't have time for it now...

How did you configure it, concerning atip and emulation ?

What's ATIP? Emulation - tried them all at once and one by one. No good.

Do you have clonecd installed ?

The new games dosent mather where you installed from. Its always check where it was installed from by the start, and if there is no more drivers and not the right "image" it will prompt an error. However if you isntall from letter D: and got virtual driver in letter X:, it will work!

You say that you have demon tools. However, like Monty says, uninstall all other emulation software, it might confligt with demon or alcohol and you might get an error message (when it passed the SafeDisc scan) that a "emulation software detected".
!!!Also make shure you got SafeDisc (and maybe the other protection as SecuROM) checked that it emulate SafeDisc. The game is safedisc protected. Or use Alcohol with is the best of my opinion. The only game that it cant emulate AND I realy wonder why, is Flatout.

Yeah, i checked GCW Halo mini-image later and it works perfectly. So it's either my SCPT copy doesn't work with GCW image or something with daemontools emulation.

Dont know I bet the image is wrong.. :/
