V4 ps2 ng with Infinity Modchip
I have installed a Matrix Infinity 1.38 in my v4 ng ps2 and everything works perfectly except ps2 dvd-r backup games.
When I tried to boot a dvd-r backup, my ps2 started clicking and grinding and get "disc read error" in the browser. I know it's not the installation problem cuz I can get into Infintiy option configuration menu and Upgrading Infinity FW. Already upgraded to 1.39 FW and still get the same error problem.......... Is this a defected chip? Has anyone had experience with this kind of problem before? Help.. :o >ps1 origionals - boot >ps1 backups - boot >ps2 origionals cd/dvd - boot >ps2 cd-r backups - boot >ps2 dv-r backups - failed, not boot >dvd origional movies- boot >dvd backup movies- boot |
means your laser knackerd there wasnt much point chipping it if the ps2 couldnt read dvd-r. You could 1 Sell your ps2 2. try using better media such as riteks 3. buy a new laser or 4. clean it.

If the movies work, I don't think it's completely duffed. Try cleaning, and if things still don't work, check the points on the bottom side of the board (CDVD Controller Bus). :)
|
remember its a v4 everything on the top. Its just the laser lense.
|
I thought I saw V5 (Doh!)
Where are my glasses? |
u keep thinking about v5s tonight huh?
|
Brain-washed, lol ;)
|
yep v5 v5 v5!!! argh
|
Hey, thanks for the quick replies. I've tried cleaning the lense with alcohol/adjusting the white cog thing and still get the same disc read error problem on dvd-r games. My ps2 is only 4+ years old and original dvd games & movies boot fine.. are you sure it the laser problem?
So how much is the new laser cost? |

However you can replace the KHS-400B thats in your V4 with a brand new KHS-400C and and it will work as good as a V7. We charge $70-$80 to do this. |
hang on does this mean i could replace the version 4 laser in my ps2 for a KHS-400c and it would work like v7? so i could get either cc or matrix infinity? or no
|
Providing your V4 is using a KHS-400B laser, yes :)
|
It's all down to the lasers Then ?
V4's can work aswell as a v7 if it has a KHS-400B laser fitted Just put a new v7 laser :) The only thin is I don't want to open my v4 up and see . As might want to sell . Is there any way of telling what laser you have fitted without opening it up :D |
Yep it all depends but there is is some v4 problem which means the eject tray keeps opening and closing randomly when you chip it so im told but its never happend to me.

 I have a Matrix Infinity 1.38 and I use to be able to boot it to the browser screen and close the lid with a back up DVD game and it booted to the PlayStation 2 screen and had the Infinity 1.38 under it and now it does not but when I turn my PlayStation2 on and hit triangle and circle the white Matrix screen comes up and all the options are right just cant get the matrix chip to turn on or read the backups I put in..
Please Help... |
Woah dude! Try some punctuation.
Anyway, if I hear you right, you're saying that the Matrix 1.38 no longer comes up under the PlayStation 2 logo. If so, check the connections to the back of the board to see if they've either come loose or are damaged in some way. It'd be easier to know if you told us the version number of your PS2... |
