right i have a version 4 ps2 and dont plan on getting a new one,
i have a modchip in it now but i need a boot cd for it and it wont boot dvd games + im fed up with a boot disc lol, can anyone suggest a modchip that will boot dvds with no bootdisc? i really need help!!!! thanks!

sell your v4 on ebay !!! then invest on a v5 onwards pref a v7 then get yourself a mi or crystal chip ..... I think others here will advise you to sell on , at least you will have a decent ps2 to play with for the sake of a few £££££££ or $$$$$$$ ,, i picked up a v7 on ebay for £35 and its been spot on since !! :p keep eye open and you will get a good deal :D

ebay is really dodgy thow isnt it? ummm so im looking for a v7 yeah? and what shall i do with the chip already inside my ps2 what if i get caught selling a ps2 with a modchip in thanks.

wait for other responces first but if you do addvertise to sell just say v4 moded ps2 !!!! could mean n e thing (paint job ect) but i do know people who have sold chipped ps2 through ebay with no problems . or try n sell private .

all ebay will do if n e thing is remove your add and refund your ad costing :p

yeah ok i been on ebay jus looking and i cannot find a v7 ps2, what version are the new slim ones???, and whats wrong with putting a new modchip in my v4?

V4's had crap lasers from the start and are kind of dodgy when it comes to playing dvd-r media. If your having problems with it playing dvd originals then i doubt it will even play dvd backups

slim lines v12 or 700000 v7 39003 i may have a v5 with a m2 for sale in a week or so.

Try and find an SCPH-39003 on eBay. I got a V7 one time for £40, modded with Infinity and sold it for £130!!! :)

the chip i got in the ps2 v4 at the moment is a judas so maybe that jus cant play dvd backups and i only use dvd+r media so will tht be any good or do they all have to be written to dvd-r's?

V4 can't read +R - that's why your chip won't boot them. I think you'll find if you burn to -R they'll boot :D

A v7 will read +r media but its still better to use -r. Ritek or Taiyo Yuden are the best media. If its the judas chip i am thinking about it was only available in the uk and should boot dvd-r backups as well as cd-r without a swap. You shouldnt need a boot disc as mentioned above.

well all i know is i definately need a boot disc, and is there any way i could make my +r drive write to -r discs? any firmware updates or summin? but like everyone is telling me to get a v7 ps2 but i dont know where to get one because everyone has always said ebay is really dodgy so like i dont know, and im only 13 and its very hard to understand what people are talking about so could someone post here if they have any information on a v7ps2 for sale and any one suggest what i could do because i only have a +r drive!!! thanks

get your maaa or paaa to buy you a +/-r writer :D or save a bit o pocket money depends where you are you can pick up a decent writer for £30 check local free ads ect n try that before you go the whole hog ;)

well i am in barry, south wales!, i have a dvd writer in my dad's computer and its a liteon but im not sure if its -r/-rw compatible and at the moment we cant seem to find the booklets that came with it so....ill say it again! does anyone know if a v7 is being sold on ebay and what if i buy the v7 and its faulty but they "forgot" to mention that in the item description?????

ebays fine mate, theres nout wrong with it.wack it on ebay you get about 80 quid and you can get a new v5-7

It a v7. If the laser is in good shape then i guess its worth it. The only way to tell is to buy it.
