Fable Trouble

Hi,
I am having trouble with my backup of Fable.
The first time I played the game it played fine and I started a new game and played it for a while, saved, turned off, no issues.
However, the next day when I went into the game it woulg go into the menu and work fine all the way up to loading my last save game the I would get the green 'disc dirty or damaged' screen.
This happens every time now.
Evox.3935
Craxtion 4
Alcohol 120%

Only thing I can think of is that I just got a new computer and this is the first backup to be made using my new Pioneer DVR-108.
Could there be any problems with settings.

The other weird thing I noticed was that in craxtion it said that all the xbe's
were previously patched(not needing to be patched) however this game is after September 03'.

Has anyone made a backup of this game successfully and if so what software, etc. did you use?
Any idea what the problem may be?

it could be that ur dvd rom in ur xbox is wearing out now or cheap media. i had the same problem so to save me from headaches i backed up my game into my xbox hdd and i hadnt had any problems whatsoever. so u should either get better media(if thats case), get a samsung dvd drive, or u can upgrade ur hdd to hold ur backups there....hope this helps :)

David88 07-01-2005 16:40

Well this is the same media that I have been using to backup about 30 other gamed without a hitch and also I have no problems playing any other games, only this one. Xbox is only 6 months old.
Can't afford to upgrade HD at the moment, just want to make backup disc.

well as for me i had the same problem..."dirty disc error" was a pain in the ass for me...but once i uprageded the hdd and my dvd drive..i have not seen that dreaded message again. :p if u have been using the same media for ur xbox backups them im guessing ur dvd drive has lived out its uselfullness already. i didnt start seeing that message till about a year and a half of using my backups. sorry but im pretty sure ur options are either buy an new hdd or dvd drive.

The game plays fine when using the original or any other copied game, just not this backup.

original games will hardly ever come up with dirty disc message sense the laser doesnt work as hard as compared to backups. try another good media to do that backup....as for me i had that same problem with that game and a few other games...but once i installed my new dvd drive and hdd ...and i have yet to see the dirty disc message

Fable constantly loads, so if you haven't got a good dvd-rom it will try to read faster than it can on most backup disks. That is usually about the time the dirty disk error comes in. I had the same problem and was forced to play from an HDD.Unfortunately you won't find too many ways to fix this problem.

The only thing I can say is to make sure the time is set correctly, delete the save, and see if it works again. If you boot from evox first, make sure TSR is not set to debug.

Your HDD is probably large enough to play the game from it. I'd just to that and remove it when you're finished.

David88 08-01-2005 01:43

No, I dont think that is the problem as it happens as soon as you try to load the game. Also I have played KOTOR 1 & 2 which loads a lot and no problem.
Not to mention that it plays fine in the original.

sorry david...but i think this is the only alterntaives me and quall can come up with. i had the same proble with fable..8 out 10 times i saw that dreaded dirty disc error on my screen...but once i insalled the game to my hdd..the problem was solved. for the most part i already that my dvd- rom drive was going cause it was happening more and more frequently now(sucky ass thompson) so either get a samsung drive or hdd upgrade :p

Bug in Craxtion

FYI
There is a "known" bug within craxtion 4 for which specifically affects the creation of Fable ISOs. Don't know if anything else is affected (I have yet to see anything else is) though.
The older Craxtion (3.x) works fine on it however.

TylerDurden 15-03-2005 05:58

How does it affect it?

Tyler!

Quall999 15-03-2005 06:13

That is what i'd like to know.

Punky 15-03-2005 09:30

dunno

Not sure on what it does - other than it creates an ISO that won't work once you burn it.

I think you get the opening screen or something like that - but the game play fails.
