Sims 2 official update(patch)...install problem:(
 

Hello everyone.. :)

Does anyone managed to install this new update (patch) that can be downloaded from official Sims2 website?

I'm using The Sims 2 v1.0 [MULTI] No-DVD/Fixed EXE ..that works prefectly fine!
could it be that I need original Sims2.exe or there is a patch for this new update?

Yes you need the original exe. Either copy it over, if you backed it up, or if you didnt back it up, reinstall from the original discs again.

You will need a new crack for the new version of the game !!!

If you use the old crack then there is no need to upgrade.
Old crack doesn't activate the newer changes :D

I have a question, I hope I didn’t choose the wrong tread.
Anyway, I have Sims 2 on 4 CDs I got serial and crack with it. Everything works fine except the Build mode, it doesn’t work at all.
Is there some patch or another crack that will fix that?

After proper update, play with mini Image on demon tool's or alcohol virtual drive work very fine and is actualy the best solution crack's are most part of time full with bug's exemple build mode dosn't work. have fun and mery chrismas from france. ;)

How to update your CD version Sims2 Backup copy to 1.1
 

How to update your CD version Sims2 Backup copy to 1.1


This is for the 4 CD version, eventually converted to DVD and using the Money fixed DVD executable

To update your sims backupcopy succesfully to 1.1 do the following:
(note: after this you'll need a new fixed 1.1 executable that isnt out yet, but the purpose of this is to make your backup ready for a later update.)
But you can also use the CD1 mini-image and Daemon Tools with the version 1.1 update instead of a new fixed exe, I tested this and works!

-Download "thesims2_update_cd.exe" (only the cd version will work, even though you converted your 4CD's to a DVD installation so dont try the dvd version update.


-Create an image of the original Sims2 disc4 (labeled Sims2_4) using Alcohol 120% and select the Safedisc2/3 profile in Alc. 120%

-Mount the image in Daemon Tools 3.47 (press ctrl and shift on your keyboard to prevent the sims2 from starting up if you have installed it)

-Also copy back the original Sims2 executable from the original Sims2_1 CD to your installed program files folder or the update installation will halt on a error.
So overwrite the Money fixed exe again with original.

That's it, the update is installing correctly so you only need an image of CD4 where the update asks for when you start it.

So on your backup copy place a folder with an image of CD4, a copy of the original Sims2.exe and Daemon Tools 3.47 to be able to update later. Only thing thats needed later is a new fixed 1.1 exe or ofcourse the mini-image of CD1.

Note: Im not sure yet if a stripped or mini image of CD4 will work as I dont know if the update installation just checks the CD4 or needs also files from it to copy over during updating. But an image of CD4 is only 550 MB and a backupcopy on DVD of all your 4 Sims2 CD's is about 2.70 GB so there is space enough left to put a full image on it in a update folder.

You can find sims2.exe on your CD. If you, erhm, misplaced it, run the installer in repair mode or uninstall and reinstall the game. Good luck,

The Sims 2 - Image of Play Disc (CD1)
 

Because there is no crack available for the patched versions of "The Sims 2" (Version 1.0.0.971 or 1.0.0.994) I've created an IMAGE of the PLAY DISC (CD1) with "GameJack 4" (Version 4.00.590).
You can dowload "GameJack 4" here:

When you load this IMAGE in a Virtual Drive you can play the patched versions of "The Sims 2" without any CD!!!

I could send the IMAGE to GameCopyWorld, if someone wants to have it.

Would this work for the DVD US version after update.

I don't know if my created IMAGE of the PLAY DISC would also work for the US DVD-Version, probably not! Another problem is that the RAR-/ZIP-file is 733 MB big! I think that's to much for sending per E-Mail.

But you could try to make an IMAGE of your Sims2-DVD with GameJack 4!

Again thanks Monty. I made the image using GameJack for the US-DVD and it works fine. (although the image is 2.1 GB) I load using Deamon Tools and it works fine. I'm going to try A120 to make a mini-image and see what happens.

I was able to make a mini-image disk (30MB) using A120. It barely got to 1% before I cancelled the read and saved the image file. Anyway this works great for the US-DVD version using emulators A120 or Daemon Tools. I'll try to get one smaller if I can slow the read down with A120 but it sets automatically to maximum read and is very fast. I'll try using CloneCD and see if this works also.

I tried making a smaller image using CloneCD and after 4 seconds I still had a 30MB image!
