Dvd movie labels?

Is there a web site where a guy can download dvd movie labels?

TylerDurden 06-12-2004 16:57

Just so you know putting labels on your dvds is a bad idea. It creates wobble and can shorten the life of your dvd player.

Thanks for the Info.

Djspindizzy2004 09-12-2004 04:56

you're welcome i jst answered your question instead of chastising you about how terrible things will happen to your machine if you put a label on your discs, i have over 200 films all backed up and all working on my machine at home, so even if the machine does pack in it only cost me £30 from asda/walmart so i not really bothered

TylerDurden 09-12-2004 05:13

Chastising ehh.

Tyler!

Djspindizzy2004 10-12-2004 04:56

i suppose i may have been in a bit of a bad mood yesterday

TylerDurden 10-12-2004 05:40

Fortunately I wasnt. Anyways, I wont help someone with somthing that I know could mess up their stuff. Call that chastising if you want but Ive been doing this for a long time. BTW the amount you listed above makes me yawn.

Djspindizzy2004 13-12-2004 04:34

The guy asked a simple enough question and i answered it for him youre not superman, if the guys machine breaks then its not your problem you can't solve everyones problems, its only a forum not the front line in vietnam,
get out more

TylerDurden 13-12-2004 06:29

Thats the kind of moronic answer I would have expected from you. "Its not my problem". Thats BS. People come here for answers to their questions. Im not in good faith gonna tell them how to do something if it will mess up their devices. I guess you would, because "its not your problem".

Why dont you take a break, like a week long one. Ill make that possible for you. Im fine the way I am.

Im gonna put labels on them anyway dvd players are dime a dozen these days, so what the hell. Thanks for the links and advice.

DPG Terik 15-12-2004 21:13

After doing some long research on putting labels on DVDs. I have come to the conclusion to not continue to do so. From what I have read on many sites the labels do cause problems in playing the movies. I have been putting labels on most of my DVD backups but I have been going through several and playing them and am seen lots of skips and freezes toward the end or outside of the dvd. From what I have read this is a known problem with labels. I am now going to try to remove the labels.
Any suggestions on the best way to remove them?
LOL!

Hairdryer? You just heat them up? I had tried some alcohol but that didnt work too well.
Terik

TylerDurden 19-12-2004 07:15

Yep, heat makes most glues used on stickers of all types release. So just heat it up a bit and peel carefully. Ive bought used dvd's that had rental place stickers on them, and I was able to easily take them off. I guess the rental shops either dont know about this or they dont wanna spend the time.

Yep, hairdryers work. Like Tyler said, peel carefully.

The only reason the disk would "wobble" is if you put the label on by hand so it's not perfectly centered. Use a CD label applicator and it will be straight and ballanced. I have been using one for years with not one single problem.

Monty Burns 20-12-2004 04:25

Hmm, that it BS. Maybe you don't have any trouble but the main point is that dvds are rather touchy and they cannot be compared with cds.

Just burn a dvd and test it for errors. Then label it and scan for errors again. Results are horrible.....(using a applicator doesn't make it better).

Warlock 20-12-2004 11:26

I got a applicator and still dont use it, I've seen the edges peel, bubble and get stuck inside the drives.

I agree with Djspindizzy2004....A question was asked because obviously SOME people want their DVDs labeled. I as well was looking for a good site to get the covers and labels from, I prefer my movies to look like movies and not have cds floating around where you have to open each case to see what it is. DVD players are @30 bucks now, and I think my DVD collection looks alittle more organized and professional sticking a good quality label on it.

People come here for answers, not opinions...if you dont want labels then good for you, but the question wasnt whether or not one should apply one.

AshleyWalls 28-12-2004 04:16

dont like to put sticky lables on my dvd's so i just print directly on them with my Epson R300 :p

movilover 10-10-2005 01:40

They may have some here but not sure cuz i think they are original dvd stuff like dvd case cover art http://www.dvdreplacementcovers.com/

Got to agree with the man here, i used one for ages and have had no problem whatsoever, that is after i swapped to good quality labels, not the cheap cheap cheap cheap ones that are available.

But have also moved onto to printing directly to disc using my epson r300 it rocks and its worth the coin getting one!! :D

Warlock 18-10-2005 15:21

This is a old thread.

Pranksters 29-10-2005 19:58

May be old but a good debate for labels.

Neipas02 29-10-2005 21:43

Eh its no debate.. Use em if you want or don't.. In the end you'll either get screwed or not.. The opinions have been stated.. Now i say.. GOOD DAY SIR!
