STAR****ER - The Anti Starforce Tool
edited by me on nov 29:
www.cdsteam.net - get the proggi there - it WORKS - i tested it with the fall: last days of gaia and a mini image created with MIR - perfectly. you just have to config it a bit, complicated if you are not german cause the readme is german. |
the documentation is only in german.
so the main thing is you dont have the system harddisk at the same ide cable like one of the atapi ide drives... i deactivated my drives over .bat files, which reactivate them after you click "ok", but you have to let the batch files open while playing, a message box says so. then a STAR****.exe tool patches your registry. Well, I have to say it did not work for the first try with my image mounted in alcohol. the Starforce protection system checked the image for about a minute, then gave the error that the key on the disc is not correct. I will try it with daemon now and I hope it will work!! |
The tool is now 2 weeks old and working fine. All cd/dvd drives should be on secondary ide and put a disc in the drives. No matter what for a disc, it makes the rescan easier and safer unless you want to reboot. :D
Btw you can mount the mini images of starforce games in daemon or alcohol. No difference. |
well in the .nfo that comes with it it says the prog was released on nov 22... so star**** claims to be able to "****" starforce 3.4.63.xxx while the fall only uses 3.4.62, so, should it work? do you use aggressive method or do you even use the batch that deactives the whole ide cable?
i use cd drives on the both ide cables that are on my mainboard, my hd's are hanging at a seperate pci ide controller. i am mounting the image of the disc 1 of the game with daemon, i created it with alcohol with starforce profile, 1x dpm measure. i deactivate primary and secondary ide with agressive option, and when trying to patch with star**** he says "found 2 drivers, patched 0", what is that? the game refuses to work with the message that the entered key is not correct. what should i do now? another problem is that there are no settings if you got drives at primary AND secondary, cause i got three optical drives. the ini files are only either for primary or secondary. can you help me? do i need a real mini image like the ones you can download for some games or should a real image also do? thanks. |
The file, when executed, is recognized by McAfee to be a Trojan: PWS-Ilg.dr (http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_130220.htm)
So be careful! |
beautiful. i was just wondering why the original tool is only 400kb of size. i will delete that one now.
|
the trojan? is it in the link on top?
|
There is currently not much to be found on PWS-Ilg.dr (PWS = Password Stealer) as it was detected 4 days ago and it has been given a low risk.
McAfee seems to be to only one who has a "fix" for it! Also the site "gameplusplus.com", where the file is located, looks very suspicious... with only 1 line of text: A free set utility of anti starforce. download it. |
Please change the text on your main page!!!

The tool here is mentiones is called "Star****er". It were "released" on November 22th, as someone posted above, and only will be available "Clean" on some web sites, including mine (CdSTEam).
In a few days will be fully support in spanish, english, german or russian. In a few days too will be available a new version of that tool, with improved anti-blacklisting code. TIP: There is only four .bat for hiding primary or secondary IDE drives (normal and agressive) and Star****.exe which runs Protection patcher. TIP#2: This tool is totally free and legal, cause it does not modify anything from the game or the starforce engine itself. It just hides IDE drives to Win, and in consecuence, to Starforce. No mistery here. Morg @ CdSTeam |

btw. my version there, that trojaned one, included only german help files. anyway, the game does not recognize my image as game disc after checking about one minute or more, it says the entered key isnt correct for the corresponding one... so, what now?? is it cause i dont use a miniimage but the real image of the starforce protected disc? or is it cause the keys are blacklisted? thx |
@chaosmaster: When available it will be shown.
@bierhuettl: u should run first hide primary ide drives, and then secundary ones. I have same configuration and sometimes doesn't hide what it should hide, but finally it goes the right place. This should be fixed in the future, but i say it is a bad IDE configuration for THIS purposes. Finally, making a working SF image is not so easy, so if it doesn't launch, maybe image has a bad .mds SF doesn't blacklist keys, cause it will be blacklisting a mill original CDs cargo. Don't know if i replied u correctly. morg Tip: Here it is (by now) the german, russian and english files. It is in english by default. |
yes, i did it.
the cause it did not work was that i did not use MIR to shrink the game image to a mini image... with mini image it works perfectly!! i created a new profile for my pc with a cdrom.ini file for my drives... and then i modified one of the rapid batch files and i can start the game over this links now. **** this is complicated. |
What happens if during a play there is a freeze that force us to reboot the pc without being able to reactivate the drives from Windows ? Do we lose them or are they automatically reactivated by the reboot ?
With this, do we still need to do the registry thing with Daemon and Alcohol ? Do we still need to use the StarforceClean to remove the SF device driver ? |
drives are restored after playing and if not, reboot and then they appear again. i did NOTHING like registry hacking, sfclean or something else. just used that prog. i am sure there will a more user-friendly prog rel soon
btw if you noticed there is a new version released today, version 0.8, the changelog only says that there are some small unnamed changes and unneeded files were deleted, nothing else. and some more help files in other languages are in there @morglum it was NO good idea to overwrite all language files for star****.exe with spanish ones... i do not understand a bit and will continue using the old version, because the new 0.8 did not deactivate all my drives but i was using the same settings files like the older one... but the ability to be able to deactive within the program is good, i would want that more instead of a shortcut that has to be specified for every game again. maybe i write my own gui. |
Ups, sorry, there were some mistakes when compressing. Right version is now OK. As u have said, it is in spanish by default, but it can be easyly changed by turning in /program/settings.ini "Language=English" or whatever u wanted.
Sorry for the inconvenience. We still accept recomendations. Morg @ CdSTeam TIP: New version support till SF 3.4.63.XXX, it have been added the spanish language and .lnk were supressed in order to make more powerfull the tool. Now we can turn both drives and IDE, or just Drives. I think we don't forgot something. |

Have been fixed now. Anyway, it is not totally translated. Original pics from first Star****er are now correctly placed. New ones were an improvement for spanish version, and should be fixed soon.
Sorry! ;\ |
I noticed that the new tool does not work correctly with the same config files that do for me with the older version... That is kind of strange, not all my cd drives get deactivated when I try over the star****.exe DEACTIVATE button... even if I use my file that perfectly deactives all drives in the old version. I will try again
|
So after looking into 0.8 i modded it to my needs (german, my settings that worked with the fall, removed unneeded things etc) and what can I say? Perfectly. I can load up the prog, deactivate my drives, patch the drivers and start any game I want. After playing I reactivate and exit -> perfectly.
Thank you so much |
Are there instructions in english step-by-step on how to use this?

Need Backup...*g*
Hi Guys,
I also received The Fall - Last days of gaia and tried to trick that StarForce Protection with the mentioned Star***** program, but like bierhuettl already recognized is that the game always tries to install new drivers or claims that the CD-key is wrong... :( I also tried to solve the program by unplugging my DVD-Drive manually like it was described in another forum, but it didn't work either... So please describe precisely what you did to make it work on your PC??? I can speak German fluently and I am surely not that numb, but the ReadMe of Star****** doesn't make any sense to me... Cya...Dias! |
Use the newest version, should work.
Remember that you must not have a system harddisk at a same ide cable where one of your optical drives that has to be deactivated is at. |
Special Case...
i guess that won't be a problem at all, because the only HDD is an SATA Drive and is as far as i know not controlled via IDE controllers... :D
|
then use the newest beta you can get @ www.project-star****.tk, and it does everything automatically... set your number of drives in the settings (where they are at) and create a shortcut for the game, works perfectly. only one thing that does not work is the automatic mount of the image that you can set in the shortcut, but okay, who cares, mount it manually and it works.
oh i see that F U C K seems to be a forbidden word *lol* you know what to insert into the **** in the url there... |
ok, got this now, does anybody if it works with obscure?

Thanks, Ma Pomme |
MIR is a mini image ripper. but usually you can get mini images for every game at gamecopyworld. if you need MIR go to http://gf.wiretarget.com/safedisc.htm and d/l it there under safedisc tools

Something to say

MERCI! THANKS! DANKE! GRACIAS! MaPomme |
Starf**k seems to have totally messed up my system.
Not only did my virtual disc for Scrapland not work with StarF**k, but after giving up on not using the CD to play Scrapland, none of my other disc images work at all. NFSU2, Pirates!, FlatOut and others that I routinely run from my harddisk without using the CDRom now do not work with either Daemon Tools, or Alcohol where before running startf**k they worked perfectly. I really don't know what happened, all I know is that this has totally ruined my ability to use my software with emulated disc drives. Yes I uninstalled and reinstalled alcohol and daemon tools several times. I have even run the StarForce driver remover tool. This has not seemed to help. It must have been the Starf**k tool that caused this. Can anyone offer any assistance in this regard? Edited: Just to clarify, programs that attempt to use CDs off the virtual drives now crash with error messages. This was not happening before running StarF**K. Edited: I also tried doing a System Restore from one day ago, and that has also not solved the problem. |
Maybe a stupid question, but, have u tried to unpatch drives and to remove Blist from the tool?. Until u run again star****er to unpatch drives u will not be able to use ur drives, or mounting any image in any mounting program.
This is the first "serious" problem we encountered with the tool. Everyone everywhere is enjoining Starforce. We should check some things yet. Nothing is perfect. One more thing. have u upgraded any Starforce game before using the tool?. It is known SF is very fast when finding workarounds for its protection bypass. morg |
Just my luck that I am one with problem.
I can mount the CD-Rom images, and I can use my CD Rom drives. But when I try to run one of these programs that use the Virtual cd rom drives, they crash. I just tried running Scrapland to play, did not update any protections. I removed primary IDE Channel and Secondary IDE CHannel and rebooted machine. I can run HL2 from DVD drive no problem, same with Sims 2, X2 The Threat,Office 2003 install,Rise of Nations, Spell force..I have a lot of purchase games with original CDs that work. The problem is once software like Need For Speed UNderground 2 tries to access the Virtual CD Rom, whether it is Alcohol 120% or Daemon Tools, these programs crash, no error message from program itself, just an Exception Error from Windows. I can even read and install programs from the Mounted drives if I make CD Images, I just cannot then run the program from the hard disk, using the Mounted drive as a source for the CD-Rom. It seems that in trying to get around StarForce protection, have found a perfect way to block people from using popular CD Emulation programs to run protected software from the Hard Disk? What else could I try to fix this? |
read the regedit fix for the protection to skip/not see the emulations program.
BUT try to reinstall Alcohol 120% and deamon. HAve just those 2 installed other emulation get coughted! Then do the regedit fix, search in the forum to find instructions.. |
Are you referring to switching the Read permissions to Deny to prevent software from discovering the PnP Bios Extension entry in the device manager?
That currently isn't set, so that's not the issue. The problem is that the programs actually crash with an Exception error when I try to run them. I've never had to use, nor did I know about, any registry manipulations to get these titles to run, and they did before. |
Fixed it.
I reinstalled Direct X 9c and everything works fine. Now I'm not sure whether this was a problem with StarF**K at all, but I'm not going to mess around with it again to find out. Still a warning to those that might try the program, to be careful :) Thanks much to those that tried to help. Cheers. |
There are cracks out for many starforce games now, including the fall. you do not need SF here anymore
