Info on Sid Meier's Pirates!?

I know that I'm supposed to wait two weeks before asking for a crack. I'm not asking for a crack right now. I'm curious as to whether or not anyone has information about the protection used on this game and how that would relate to the likelyhood of a crack being released any time soon.

I'm surprised that I've not actually seen any discussion about it ... anywhere.

Luci 25-11-2004 11:10

who is the publisher of the game?

vms01 25-11-2004 11:28

Securom 5.xxxx

Luci 25-11-2004 11:33

isn't it Ea games???no i think it's ea games and then it should be safedisc 3

vms01 25-11-2004 11:36

Itīs Securom 5.xxxxx and itīs not from EA games! Why donīt u inform urself first before u post wrong informations!
I own the game and also have to use the securom Trick to Play it without CD, so i know itīs Securom!

Luci 25-11-2004 11:44

ok sorry but don't you try insulting me man :D

helonius 25-11-2004 12:49

And what would that trick be??

Luci 25-11-2004 13:21

i believe he ment the emulation alcohol has for securom protections...

helonius 25-11-2004 13:23

I havent gotten that to work. Anyone know a link to show how its done? I have tried nearly everything in A120 and still no luck.

munsterbuster 25-11-2004 14:29

Use the settings for securom new 5. Use slowest speed for reading and burning. If its not working try this for mounting:

1. Launch regedit.exe from "Start Menu/Run dialog"
2. Locate the following key:
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\Scsi\Sc si Port 2"
The port number may vary, look for key with reference to
"a347scsi"
3. Right click on this key and choose "Permissions..."
4. Select the "Administrators" group
5. Check the "Deny" box on second permission row ("Read")
6. Validate by "Ok"
7. Answer "Yes" to the confirmation dialog

helonius 25-11-2004 14:38

when I say "tried everything" that also includes the instructions in the NFO file...

munsterbuster 25-11-2004 14:46

What nfo file?

helonius 25-11-2004 14:56

those instructions about changing the key permissions do not work. I have tried DT 347 and A120 (1.9.2) to mount the images, and i have burned with A120... none of it works...

munsterbuster 25-11-2004 15:06

They work with mounting. Every Securom is bypassed with this at the moment. Even with older securom new games like battlefront or so.

Should no longer work, when a new version comes out.

helonius 25-11-2004 15:10

ok, any details? I have tried mounting with both daemon tools and alcohol 120... i have tried all the options they allow as well...

munsterbuster 25-11-2004 15:24

Use latest alcohol.
turn on every emulation.
read the disc at slowest speed with securom new 5.
mount them in alcohol.
use the regedit from above and play.

helonius 25-11-2004 15:31

I am using A120 1.9.2 1705.
I mounted the image, installed the game, made sure all emulations were on in A120, completed the regedit, and i still get error "please place your original Pirates! CD ...."

munsterbuster 25-11-2004 15:43

well.
Then use the crack that is avaible.

helonius 25-11-2004 15:47

crack is at ftp://reptile.serveftp.org/Crack/

its ok, enjoy

Dimensio 25-11-2004 18:13

Er, okay, changing registry entries isn't a problem for me...but...

With what do I rip the DVD image so that the SecuROM sectors are preserved?

Thanks. I'll run it through a virus scan just to be sure, though. I'm a little paranoid :)

Gumby 26-11-2004 14:13

Well if you got the original CD:s you might read the f*Cking manual etc!
And you might figure out how to put in your original CD:s. oh dear smells like... crap here..

Anyway for those who are hounest I can tell you about the regedit fix that he listed.

1. Launch regedit.exe from "Start Menu/Run dialog"
2. Locate the following key:
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\Scsi\Sc si Port X" (x=unknown number just look for the a347scsi in the uplisted part, in some port) key
The port number may vary(like I said), look for key with reference to
"a347scsi"
3. Right click on this key and choose "Permissions..."
4. Select the "Administrators" group
5. Check the "Deny" box on second permission row ("Read")
6. Validate by "Ok"
7. Answer "Yes" to the confirmation dialog
8. Close the Registry Editor window and enjoy this nice game.

This works ;).

It's protected with Latest SecuROM and detects Alcohol 1.9.2 (latest version) and the latest version of deamon tools.

problems .....

Hi guys!

I also have problems with PIRATES ;(
I downloaded the Alcohol Release and used the Reg-Patch how described.

BUT:
When I start the game - after the ATARI start-video PIRATES hang and Windows shows me an error message.
I also downloaded the cracked exe form gamecopyworld and Bittorrent but I have always this error message and PIRATES crashs.

I also deinstalled Alcohol but nothing work.

I have a HP Nx7010 notebook with a ATI Radeon 9200 64MB and the newest drivers from the hp website.
I have no problems with other games but PIRATES will not work on my notebook.

Has anybody same problems?

THX for any help

bye

l2enegade 28-11-2004 00:05

i got mine to work by installing different drivers. the ones that worked for me (Ati Mobility Fire GL T2 128) was the ATI Fire GL T2 drivers, i.e. the NONE mobility ones.

Man, i have had the roughest time with EVERY ati card i have ever owned, and have never had a problem with Nvidia, ever. I would never spend money on anything ati, and i advise that you all do the same. :)

(the only reason i have an ati carded laptop is because it was part of the school i'm going to, otherwise, i wouldn't have it, :)

I totaly dissagree, always owned an ATI card never had a problem. Friend of mine have a Nvidia card dose have problems almost every god dam day. Love ATI love ati cards. But I can't help that you stucks with mobile versions of ATI cards.... Anyway for not laptops computers I think ATI is the best, for laptops computers, I can't tell you, becuase I don't own or tried, but I think they pretty even on problems on laptops cards. However there are non MOBILE graphic cards FOR LAPTOPS from ATI!

ANYWAY!
I can't see that we are comming somewhere in this topic.

The game is protected with latest version of SecuROM.

Can detect Alcohol Emulation Tool and Deamon Tools and all other emulations tools. (All latest). Fix is listed above.

Crack can be downloaded at GameCopyWorld.

Those who can't run the game, need to contact the publisher and/or read the ****ing manual and/or see if you system can handle the game (truth), the crack and/or the fix runs fine.

Luci 28-11-2004 03:19

i have both ati and nvidia and never had a problem. :p

munsterbuster 28-11-2004 04:54

Yeah. Had both manufacturers and no prob. All a matter of the system

Vicked 19-02-2005 00:22

Hey Guys

Sorry to revive an old thread.

But I can't get Pirates! to work with any of the methods here, this is what happens:

Using the RegEdit Fix: Game loads for a few seconds, restarts computer.
Using Daemon: SecureRom detects Emulation software error, can muck around with emulation and get it to load for a few seconds, then restarts computer.
Using Crack: Loads for a few seconds, restarts computer.

I really need some help, anyone got any ideas?

GLH 19-02-2005 03:39

@Vicked:
Is the game working with original cds, without crack?
Do you have the original cds?

Grumpy 19-02-2005 04:47
