Vampire - The Masquerade Bloodlines - censorship fix
Greetings all, this is my first post in here so be gentle. I have bought Bloodlines couple days ago and it's UK-version which is under censorship. So I can't view nude strippers/intro movie correctly(for example). By having a censored game makes movies to glich and I have even spotted couple of bugs because of it. Anyone in here know any workarounds to uncensor the game and make it look like more final than beta(movies really sucks with censor, people floating and all)?
I'm 21 years old and I do in Finland, I'm not immatured teen so I could take some naked chicks after seeing some head falling off. Please, help me and other kindred if you know how. And by the way, US-version for example ain't censored. Easiest way to know if you have uk version is that you have just 3 different languageoptions for bloodlines installation. And second easiest way is to see if you see execution in game intro(head falls off). Not just flash/sword in position to cut. |
What do you mean it's censored? Are you supposed to see any nudity in the movie that pops up when you press new game?
|
How do you know it's censored? How do you know that the vampire's head suppose to fall down? Have you played any other version of the game exept UK version?
|
Being one of the best games around, I checked. I did not find any official word about the censorship, although it DOES look strange, how the intro chops up at the beheading and the floating characters, I have yet to see official word about it. It may be so that the censorship is in there even in the US version.
OFF TOPIC, a little It is very strange how enormous this game is, how many good things are going for it but how unpolished and unfinished it is. The QA team did not do their job at all, in my opinion. An example is if you've seen the walkthroughs that came out after E3 you will notice at the character creation a little something called histories. A trait that gives your character some depth and issues. This is still in the engine but not in the game. You can still activate it through the console and use its benefits but it is buggy so it won't work properly everywhere. There are tons of bugs which you have experienced yourself, no doubt. Given how much detail and passion has been put into the game to create a certain atmosphere it is awkward and extremely strange that it is so unpolished. They even had extra time on their hands, considering they finished the game a few months earlier than the release due to the HalfLife 2 release (they couldn't release it before HalfLife 2, contract stuff). So methinks they would have at least worked on a patch all this extra time they had. But no. Very odd. Hopefully the histories and other bugs will be adressed in patches. ON TOPIC As we have yet to hear official word, I believe and see that it is only MY thoughts about it, that it is a late development hasty edited censorship. All we can do, for now, is hope they make a bad-ass patch that lets us unleash the game to its true potential! |

Thread moved to "General Gaming"-Forum ! |
in my version on the box it says "UNCUT", i also didn´t see the head fall or any gore in that scene.
|
@Magnetic
I am curious as to which country you are in? I am purchasing Vampires on Monday and as I am in Australia, this game will more than likely be edited! Im also interested to know how I would possibly know if its edited or not! How do we really know there are in fact 2 different versions or is the 'Uncut' on your box just to lure people in? Could you point out a specific scene in the game that I could compare it to? |
are you sure there is a version, where you can see the head cut off?
in the german version you can´t see it, either. |
@Magnetic
I just reread my last post to you and I thought it may come across a bit rude to you so I would like to re-phrase it. I wanted to know which country you were in as I wanted to know if there is a uncut version, which country is releasing it uncut? ;) PM me if you want with country location if you would prefer to keep it hidden. ;) |
i think only at the german box there is the "uncut" logo but its only fake because in the german version you have less blood than in any other version
|
how do you know that? played any other versions than the german?
|
@Magnetic and Herbiemaster
Hmmm, different thread, different game, but same blood topic! Maybe we should be swapping some screenshots with each other? Even though I am sure the Australian version is in fact the same as the Euro version anyway! Not that I have actually played much of this game yet as I am still trying to finish 'Men of Valor' and 'Medal of Honor-Pacific Assault'. :) Both excellent games in my opinion. ;) |
ive got the english version and u still dont see it.
|
By the sounds of things none of the different versions are going to show the head being cut off! I am also curious to know if there is a difference between the so called 'Uncut' version? Obviously we all see blood when your charactor bites someone right?

1. Censored? whats censored? Ill tell you what. In the us version you can dismember anyone with the katana, anywhere! 2.In the UK/french/german you can only gib zombies and those weird ass 2 legged things. 3.and of course the decapitation during the first intro. William Penn from Activision assured me that these were not glitches/errors to be fixed in patches but the results of our censorship laws. So on that note go and order vampire - bloodlines from somewhere in USA. I know I bloody well will. |

Vampire bloodlines is censored UK/german/french. However the US version is fully uncut. uncut wtd? the difference is: head does fall of at start, you can dismember anyone with swords and axes.. anyone? yep. even cops!! now you know |
yeah thank you:rolleyes: ,i understood that already in your first post, no need to write the same thing twice, i´m not stupid...
so anyone here with the us version? |
Well I for one will be returning my version to the shop on monday! I will be letting them know I paid good money for the whole game not 3/4's of it!! I was pi***d off enough when I found out GTA Vice City had been edited or cut down for the Australian version! Its rediculous that adults can not buy Uncut games!
|
i've just bought a copy of Vampire Bloodlines from ebay.com, from a guy in Texas, its definitely the USA copy.
i bought it from there even though im in the UK mainly because i got it for ?17 inc. shipping which is a great deal. i asked the guy i bought it from about the censorship issue - he says the intro in his US version is the same, the decapitation occurs offscreen, you only hear it. the gliding of the characters is the same, meaning the intro still looks rough and unfinished when i get the game i'll check for myself, make sure it is the USA version and that its censored. but at the moment it looks like all versions have been censored, at least with the decapitation. i didnt find anything official about it when searching the net either ________ Lincoln LS |
No I must say I have been extensively searching the net for info on the Uncut version and I too have not found anything!

1. In our version of the game, the PC can attack police and innocents—but at the cost of the PC’s Humanity. And, of course, we still can’t attack anyone in Elysium.So, even our version is slightly censored--allbeit, self-censorship. |
@Squeakytaint
Thanks very much for the info. Much appreciated. ;) |

Ok, well censorship aside, is this game actually worth getting?
I've heard from people who like it and people who don't and going back to montnoir's post which says it's a little buggy. I can get the uk version for £15 and if there's not much by way of differing censorship i think i'm gonna order it. But back to the censorship, i'm 23, i'd be worried if i hadn't seen real naked women let alone computer renderings. And the last on-screen decapitation? probably 1st res evil movie. Ouch :eek: .When will the censors learn, this doesn't shock us anymore!!! |
