Sonys new slim PSTwo hacked already!!
Well its seems that a very new mod team with an even newer style of mod chips (blank like the xbox chips that the end user flashes with a hacked flash bios) has confirmed that they have already been able to hack the new slim PSTwo with there chip.
Read more about it here. http://crystal-chips.com/index.php?page=news |
:) :) :)
Gimme Gimme Gimme Having looked at the mobo pictures it was obviously only going to be a matter of time, lets just hope we can get stock in time for its UK release (not that I would consider using them in the UK of course :p ) |

UK's mod chip legality is a whole different thread all together!
I'm very interested in the crystal chip and hope it turns out to be what they are promoting it as. What I find even more exiting about it is that they are saying it works with all versions including the new slim PSTwo now being dubbed the V12. Terry from foundmy.com has had nothing but good things to say about it. We will just have to wait and see. Maybe I can get a few samples from someone :D |
Im gonna want this chip and ps2.
Tyler! |
Why is it though that it states that playing backups or imports will not be allowed/supported? Or am I just reading that wrong?

Also it seems that $ony implemented a new protection to not allow non-$ony memory cards from being used. Is this right? I'm not sure if I'm reading this properly.... |

The big fish is weilding 'corporate hospitality' & treating high court judges to a weeks golfing holiday on exclusive tropical islands. They play the game, so we do as well. |
"DMS Team have had the slimline USA PS2 slimline in our hands for several days. Testing shows that our FPGA code already supports booting burned medias on the new system. Therefore the DMS4 Lite and Pro will boot burned progarms on the new PS2 by default. The Eject solder point has been removed, however we have found an alternative point which can be used to provide the functionality required by our FPGA code :) We're now working on installation diagrams and they will be online by the time our MODS hit stores early next week. Once again DMS lead the field with innovation and confirm first support for the new system. Enjoy :)"
Looks like DMS4 also hack the new ps2s :) |
Oh yeah I forgot about the "eject solder point".
Tyler! |
Hmmm yes that will be a problem. Is there a reset button?
|
Well it doesnt look like its a problem after all, check this out.
http://www.neoasic.com/jpg/CC-70012-logo.jpg Turns out the CC chip doesnt need the eject/reset points on the PSTwo. I'm hoping to get a sample soon. |
No time for samples, we need stock of a working/reliable v12 mod!
|
hopfully $ony has fixed the crap laser /la chip probs you would think that insted of taking people to cort for chipping thay would put there money into getting the things to work right not melting itself if a durty disk is used
|
cc team should have the v12 supported chips very soon... matter of days
|
Well the CC team released the source code of there firmware the other day and it has been hacked already to boot back-ups. I received a sample the other day but I'm waiting for my PSTwo to show up as I had to order it online because all the stores around here are sold out, just to find out that Fry's is also sold out and my V12 is on back-order! :(

The 2nd machine worked fine & the ohms read 770! The 1.0 Infinity needs to be flashed in an earlier version to work in a v12, you can't flash it from the memory card manager  Crystal Chips are shipping now. |
I've also heard reports of the laser driver IC and the laser also burning out in these new V12's. The IC is similar to the LA but combined with the LB as well. Looks like the dead V9/V10 syndrome all over again. Maybe a Romeo type mod can prevent this problem as well. Only time will tell, but until then I'm kind of leary about the V12.
|
I've just heard rumour there may be a link between the 'F' wire & laser problems. The machine I had probs with had the F fitted but I left it off on the next machine which works fine.

Yep, the F wire is purely for DVDRW support m8.
