STARFORCE - you dont need Cracks

I have just use an old CD-Rom (8x Speed) and installed PANZERS, SOLDIERS & BEYOND DIVINITY Backups from my Originals!

- YES I HAVE THE ORIGINALS -

All Backup-CDs starts and works in my old CD-Rom without problems..
You dont need any Softwares like DaemonTools or disable IDE, Virtual Discs, Burning Softwares..
Burned them with max speed (WinOnCD6-DVD Edition)

Have Fun

But it seems to depent on the sort of used CD-R or CD-RW and on the used reading device.

I have made a copy of Panzers but it works only in my LITE-ON LTD-166S and in not other drive. And it also only works when it is burned on a INTENSIO CD-R when I burn it onto a Memorex CD-RW it won't work.

Eagle 10-07-2004 16:26

i really doubt that you could copy starforce with winoncd

Hawk404 10-07-2004 16:31

I also have a LiteOn (DVD) Burner, i burned PANZERS on a FUJIFILM, SKY and PLATINUM cd-r..

hmm.. all works 4 me in the old cd-rom, i think its called Trackdata or someone else.. Theres no sticker on it anymore :-(

EAGLE: I burned all my Backup Cds with WinOnCD since years..
Version 3.5 - Version 6 (I always update my Burning Software)
I love this program

Does that old cdrom model happen to be a scsi one ? If so, this has been known for some time...

BarryB 10-07-2004 17:31

Is this similar to some older CD-ROM's being able to play some SecuROM backups because they couldn't read Sub Channel data, so the SecuROM disabled itself to allow the game to play?

Does this mean my SCSI Ultraplex would work? :)

Don't think so, as SF only checks for the 2048 bytes per sector mmc command (28 00 00 XX XX XX) SF does not uses Sub in its checks, so any drive should launch it. Maybe error recovering? or just a very slowly drive to pass the 4 consecutive possition checks?..don't know......but sometimes happens...^^

Good luck!

Now i have take a closer look again at my old CDRom-Drive, found inside:
GOLDSTAR R580 (1997) ver1.05 (max speed 8x)
I didnt tried some other old Drives, but i think someone workz - someones not
BEYOND DIVINITY takes me 20min to install, but plays great.

I took it from one of my historical PCs :-)

You know why it might work? Drives of that era will not read CD-RW discs due to the old laser type in the drive. That may have something to do with it.

On a related note, do the copies still work if you install from a fast/modern CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive and only play the game from the old CD-ROM drive?

Hawk404 11-07-2004 05:04

I didnt install the games with my DVD-rom.

- Burned them with LiteOn DVD-RW
- Use WinOnCD6 DVD-Edition with latest 2 updates
- Maximal Read & Burning Speed
(I dont change any settings)
- Install the burned games with old CD-Rom Drive
- I didnt shut down DaemonTools and Virtual Discs or other Softwares
- Play them within the old CD-Rom drive

E_J 11-07-2004 05:29

That is why I asked.

El Guzano : You're banned for two weeks. Use that time to read our board rules, especially the bit about warez.

Sure glad I didnt toss my old cdrom drives. I knew they may come in handy again some day. I was gonna scrap em at one time. :D

Brainman2k 20-07-2004 03:07

i only do have panzers installed, but the copy of my original-cd no.3 works perfectly with my dvd-rom-drive (toshiba m1712). so imo no need to get an old cd-drive...try it with your dvd-rom first if one has one)

DId you create an image file using winoncd or just copied the game cd on the fly ? and how long takes it for that 8x drive to pass the cd check ?

Hawk404 21-07-2004 00:16

I tried on TDK CD-R but did not work ,but TDK is crap ,i will buy quality discs and try again. i will buy some FUJIFILM :)

Hawk404 21-07-2004 17:04

..i think its not the CD-R Manufactor what i used.. i think its the old CDrom-Drive why i could play the Backups.. Wish you luck with trying FUJIFILMs..

And also i have no problems to make an Image of a Disc what is Starforce protected.. Strange, because i read a lot of problems in this forums about making backups..

I could not tell why they all works on my PC, but i am happy that so it is :)
