password

is their a way to put a password or somethin on ur xbox when it boots so it can only be used by the person/people who noe that password?

Quall999 24-06-2004 18:59

There is a way, but it may be pretty ghetto.
First, you'd have to edit the bios to not look for "defalut.xbe".

The THC dash (non-lite..the beta final, you will have to edit some of code in the dash, to not autoboot and stuff like that, took me a while to get everything fixed, but it worked out great). It has passworded (character, not button) menus.

There was another dash or passed launcher, I do not remember which. Maybe someone else can suggest it. I was originally used and created when the nude DOA patch came out. Maybe it was HDD loader, I dunno.

and my box usually starts around 118-119 and hits about 125-129 dependin how long i use it
u just made me real paranoid about it overheating.... :o

TylerDurden 25-06-2004 11:05

Yeah I notice my old xbox is around that same temp and really never gets any hotter.

Then I got my new xbox and it does the same thing. Nothing is added to this new xbox other than an 80mm fan.

Im guessing its just the heat of the summer.

Tyler!

about the overheating has anyone tried the xbox cooling fan add ons out there trying to find out if i should buy one cause i am having problems after the xbox has been on for 45 minutes or so with out gameplay just transfering files the baud rate goes down to zero and i error out but after i let the xbox sit for 30 minutes or so it is fine again any ideas or suggs.?

TylerDurden 28-06-2004 16:12

I have. I currently have a 80mm fan and a hdd fan. Thing is, whats heatin up is my motherboard. Gotta figure a way to put another fan in there.

Tyler!

iwillrace 29-06-2004 12:09

this is what i have found let me know what you think

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=8112220713

TylerDurden 29-06-2004 13:15

Seen those before too, but not sure if I like the look of them. Its up to you bud.

Tyler!

JiveTurkey 29-06-2004 20:16

I'm not so sure I have faith in something that cheap either but if it makes you feel better then $10 isnt much to pay for peace of mind.

iwillrace 30-06-2004 10:14

i have been overheating while playing driver 3 and the screen jumps or skips but i cleaned out the dust bunnies and it still happens is the fan in the back a cheap piece of cr@p? i was thinking of putting in a higher flow fan but i hav been told the fan is a different voltage

AXmichigan 30-06-2004 13:48

umm yea....
i wish there was a way u could just like make the xbox more open

JiveTurkey 30-06-2004 19:26

Well I guess you could run it without most of the top casing. But is it worth it?

How do you know it's overheating? I wouldnt jump to that conclusion because you were playing one game and it skipped a few times?

AXmichigan 30-06-2004 21:45

yea the skippin thing i wouldnt count too much on
but i still wonder how hot it can get
noone answers
(via evox in farenheit)
can someone finally answer
or at least say how hot there's have gotten
mine is 129.8

TylerDurden 30-06-2004 22:09

Mine gets about that hot AX plus or minus a couple degrees.

Tyler!

AXmichigan 01-07-2004 00:06

aight..
whats the hottest on record with a still functional xbox?
everyone

Pop Smith 01-07-2004 11:36

Most of the newer bios let you put a password on your xbox.

AXmichigan 01-07-2004 16:31

newer in which way?

sevi 03-07-2004 10:11

Mine's running at 42 degrees celsius (about 107 fahrenheit I think) but I don't have the top on cos I've got two hard drives which I keep swapping. How accurate are the temp readings you get through evox?

AXmichigan 03-07-2004 11:00

i was curious about that myself
i figured it would be pretty accurate
but no sure...
how about xbmc's as well?

sevi 03-07-2004 13:00

Are you referring to your mobo temp or your cpu temp? I gave my mobo temp before at 107 but my cpu temp is about 118f to 122f. Can't find any temp reading for my mobo in xbmc only cpu and it is the same as evox's reading.

AXmichigan 03-07-2004 16:03

list em both
