Warcraft III LAN on TCP/IP

Hi there,
I've War3 v1.15 and i want to play with my girlfriend over Internet but without Battle.net.
I try "BattleLan v0.5", "Lancraft v1.01b" et "hBmWc3LaN v2.4" but none of them working at all :(
Anyone can help me please.

Thx

Luci 08-06-2004 14:24

i don't think you can play over the internet lan...i only know you can connect 2 pc's with a lan cable.

Plom 08-06-2004 16:29

well you can with "BattleLan v0.5", "Lancraft v1.01b" or "hBmWc3LaN v2.4" but there are too older for War3 v1.15

Killer_Cop 08-06-2004 16:30

If i was right, you can make an direct IP connection.....Or not?

Plom 09-06-2004 03:36

Yes but only with those soft, but there are too older now.
If you find new version (solution) tell me

Eagle 09-06-2004 04:44

you can play via VPN.

Plom 11-06-2004 16:21

How i can do that fast and simple ?

spOOL 11-06-2004 16:54

get yourself openvpn from sourceforge.net (openvpn.sf.net), read its documentation, unterstand the documentation, apply the documentation. link the pcs and have fun playing.

cheers

Kali is a way.

If you want an easier way to play Warcraft and similarly restricted games online, I suggest you checkout Kali.net. It's not free, but it is fairly easy.

Plom 13-06-2004 14:12

Thank you very much

Plom 14-06-2004 15:44

argh OpenVPN it's hard to learn. It doesn't work on me :(

E_J 14-06-2004 15:46

Yes you can play over TCP/IP Internet

I am using v 1.15 and can play over the Internet against a friend without Battle.net. I use BattleLAN.

1.) You have to have Windows 2000/XP. BattleLAN does not work on Windows 98/ME.

2.) I think you have to have your LAN connection enabled. (Since you are making think WarCraft 3 that you are on a LAN it be kinda smart to have your LAN connection enabled?).

3.) If you are on a broadband connection you are most likely behind a router or something like a firewall (check that you don't have the Windows XP firewall and you person that is playing with you.). If you have a firewall on you need to disable it, or go into the configuration on your router and make your computer on the DMZ zone when you play or just enable the ports or disable the firewall like ZoneAlarm or the Windows XP firewall.

4.) You both have to have the same version of Warcraft 3.

5.) Make sure you are doing it correctly. In BattleLAN add the person's IP address and make sure you have the right IP. Make the person go to showmyip.com and get the IP. Then click Add and save just incase BattleLAN closes. Then click start. Sometimes BattleLAN closes for no reason so once you launch the game make sure (Alt + Tab) to see if it is still running.

Create game and make the other person go to Local Area Network and wait for a game to pop up.

If you can't host let the other person try.

Thats totally xact whats above is all good I just wanted to add a little details for those who could have the same prob than I have:
Even if the host of the game is all setted alright, the others people joining must also be, but when they cant, mainly cuz of router and stuff, they can use Lancraft, this worth trough router if at least the host aint on a router, but the prog is really crappy and must be restarted after each game, but still its workin fine for me and all those router heh

Plom 17-06-2004 16:43

It's working, ImDonly1, Thank you very much !

Plom 17-06-2004 17:02

Oups i'm speaking too fast.
My girlfriend see me in games list, ansd when she trying too join, it refuse for unknown reason.

When she host, i don't see her :(

ImDonly1 17-06-2004 21:50

Your connection might be slow. I'm on 56K but I can still host. Make sure you are not running any downloads or download programs (p2p) like KazaA, WinMX, iMesh, etc. and the other person isn't either. Or maybe you didn't open a port or something.

ImDonly1 17-06-2004 22:05

What did you do to make the game appear in the list anyway?

If you cannot play that way then you can try this www.pvpgn.org it allows you to play WarCraft 3 on-line with other people on "fake" Battle.net servers and you do not need a real CD key for it, I don't think.

I have never tried this but there are people using it, so it must work I guess. For more info and where to get it read the FAQs on that site and for a server list go to Live Servers.

If you need help with it post. Maybe we can help you with it.

Hi,
I don't understand how to proceed to play with those servers.
I'd like to create my how B.Net server to play with somes friends.
Can you help me ?

ImDonly1 22-06-2004 23:29

I have never done this so it may work or might not, but you could try it. To host a PvPGN server (you asked to host one not join join an existing one) get PvPGN software for Windows at http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...ease_id=237721 get the pvpgn-1.6.3-2win32.zip file. Go to http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...ease_id=213316 and get pvpgn-support-1.0.zip file. Then extract pvpgn-1.6.3-2win32 folder from the zip to desktop. Go into pvpgn-1.6.3-2win32\files and extract the file from pvpgn-support-1.0.zip into there. Then I'm not sure I think you need to edit the bnetd.conf file in the conf folder. Open the bnetd.conf file using a text editor like Notepad or Wordpad. When the box opens and asks if it should always open the file with this program uncheck the box.

In the bnetd.conf file scroll down until you get to the "Server Network Info" section.

Scroll down once again & until you get to the w3routeshow line. Enable & change this only if your using NAT, behind a router, gateway, etc. If your not sure, just leave this alone.

Try using w3routeaddr first, if your having problems connecting with Warcraft III, then enable w3routeshow.

W3routeshow is disabled by default & should be left that way unless your experiencing problems.

#w3routeshow = "127.0.0.1:6200"
This will tell PvPGN to listen on port 6200 for the TCP protocol, on localhost (127.0.0.1), on your computer. If you enable this, change this to your internet IP address or domain name.

Save & close your text editor.

Now, open ports 6112 & 6200 if your using a firewall. If your behind a router, forward ports 6112 & 6200 to your computer or register your computer as a DMZ in the router. If your using Windows XP, it has a firewall that is installed by default. Make sure to allow incoming & outgoing access to ports 6112 & 6200 if you have a firewall enabled or you will be unable to connect to your PvPGN server. If you are unsure on how to configure your router read the manual or go to the router's site.

Now your ready to start PvPGN.

OK well that is what the site said the FAQ. Now run PvPGN.exe in the pvpgn-1.6.3-2-win32 folder. This will start the PvPGN server and now users should be able to connect to your server.

Now to play on the server (you can play from the same computer as you are hosting from). You need a loader for the PvPGN server. I found this one on the PvPGN site. http://pvpgn-files.ath.cx/Warcraft%2...by%20Acid!.zip watch out for the ones you use some may be infected with a trojan and can steal your CD Key if using a original one. You also need http://pvpgn-files.ath.cx/BNGatewayEditor.exe from http://pvpgn-files.ath.cx/

OK now unzip the PvPGN Loader by Acid.zip and take the w3l and w3lh.dll and put them into you Warcraft 3 folder. Then open the BNGatewayEditor. In the BNGatewayEditor click Warcraft 3 at the bottom and then click add gateway. Make a name for ip put your IP and then for zone put a number like 6. Zone is for the timezone you are in.

Then in the WarCraft 3 folder run the loader w3l and click the icon next to the Battle.net icon to change Gateways and find your server. Then click ok and you need to register like on a Battle.net server. Then go to custom games and host a game and play with your friends.

For your friends to connect they need to get the loader and the gateway editor and add your server to their list. Then don't need the PvPGN software.

Checkout Kali.net. Point, click, play. Even a clueless newbie can do it.

CAn someone help me here?

Allright, i have Warcraft 1.15, ive tried battlelan, but its no good, i can see my buddy's game but i cannot get in the game.
Now ive configured pvpgn, but i still have a strange prob, when i try to get into the created gateway (yhea, my own gateway that ive created, it turns out that i cannot go in because i dont have the propper version   ) does anyone whats gong on???
Ho yhea, i have this message when i start pvpgn:
Jul 01 17:26:13 [error] w3trans_load: could not open file "conf\w3trans.conf" for reading (fopen: No such file or directory)
Jul 01 17:26:13 [error] server_process: could not reload w3trans list
Does that has anything to do w my problem????
Tnx a lot 4 any hlp.

ImDonly1 01-07-2004 23:15

Go to the conf folder and in the bnet.conf file open it with Notepad. Then under the Server network info find something that says w3trans or w3transroute. If you find something like that under there delete it out. Or you can open notepad. and go to file save as and for the file name name it w3trans.conf and change the save as type from Text file (txt) to all files. Leave the text document empty and put it in the conf folder.

And for the wrong version thing it could be your crack. Or make sure you have the latest version of PvPGN. pvpgn-1.6.3-2-win32 or try a different crack.

It would be nice if this was pinned. :)

ImDonly1 01-07-2004 23:21

One more thing if you are using PvPGN. In the PvPGN folder there is a file called install.bat. Do not run this file if you want you can delete it. This file makes the PvPGN software run everytime you start Windows as a system service and should be only run if you are running a PvPGN almost always up server. Or if you want it to run everytime you start windows. If you have run it already just run uninstall.bat.

Router or Windows XP firewall. Configure the firewall. Or try hosting at your friends house.
