Age of Wonders Shadow Magic 1.3 No CD patch
 

Have anyone seen the NO-CD version of this patch online? Some people are already using it.

Or maybe someone can give me a link to one very good site with instructions for fixing the exe file for this game with hex editor, I've seen it some time ago, but can't seem to find it now.

I heard they kicked the copy-protection in 1.3 so it must be only remove the cd-check...

I don't think that a hex-editor will do the work!
here if you want to read tutorials(the proggys that you'll need should be listed above in every tutorial)

Of course a "ready" patch would be better, but now I'll have to try to make my own

when applying v1.3 does the game run by just mounting the image with daemontools and turning on securom emulation probably?

nahh I don't think that securom was removed!
protection ID says: SecuRom Detected - Version 5.02.02
hmm, but iam not sure if its right, programs like safedisk analyser find a safedisk version in a file, which is already fixed! oh ok I tried it with protection ID its the same thing.... so lets think:
the exe is 8.55Mb, not normal for a securom protected exe or?

soo the file is much to disassemble, but i have time!

if you have time please crack v1.18 afrika korps. the .exe is about 8mb too :))) would be nice.

yeah, but iam not able to remove those commercial protections like safedisk and securom. at the moment iam not sure if age of wonders 1.3 is protected...

1.3 is protected, but I can't find the protection in the file :-( Looks like it's not so easy, but I'll keep trying, maybe on weekend

Why care, it works with an image mounted on daemon tools. Unless you have a small harddrive, it should be no problem.

For me it's a problem cause I lost my CD somewhere in my room and it's really really hard to find it in heaps of other things :-)

But it's good that it works, then when I find the CD I'll be able to copy it. Still a crack is more convenient and less space-consuming.

And in the worst case, there may be Securom trigger functions...

Unless I'm wrong, just mounting the image on Daemon tools *doesn't* work with 1.3, same "please insert correct CD" message as 1.2 and 1.0 and such.

A crack for 1.3 would be the best thing, and long overdue for such a great game.

Edit: oh yeah, if anyone gets a crack made, give me an e-mail (with the crack perferably =)

probably same cd-key on the version's you have installed on your lan. all what the game will do is checking for same key's with other version's.

We played 1.2 with same key

The developers released by error an 1.3 official patch with no protection (and a minor display bug), 3 days after that they released the same version again, but now with the protection. If someone wants i can upload that patch, its too big to send by email. You can send me a PM if you want this.

Could someone please create a REAL no-cd for the NEW 1.3 patch. The one at GCW is just the old patch with a major graphics glitch. You can't use it.

What major graphic glitch are we tialking about? The one on GCW works for me.

It works, but it has minor display bug with the bottom part of the screen.

It's not minor. The windows task bar keeps flickering at the bottom, and makes it impossible to scroll downwards. In other words, AoW refuses to stay "on top" of any other tasks running in the background.

Why not create a real no-cd for the patch that works?

The solution for bug is to play in maximized window.

No, that doesn't work either. It works for a few people, but not for all. I monitor the forums at AoW Heaven very closely, and I can assure you that maximizing the window does not work for everyone.

I still don't see why we can't have a normal no-cd for the games final patch as all other games have.

Whether a crack ever gets made for v1.3 depends on the few crack groups that can deal with the protection used. Maybe they will, maybe they won't. But 'requests' and begging has never worked. If it ever gets made, it will appear on GCW. Check that once in a while and stop making useless threads about this.
