New Xbox Problem
 

hello all, im new on this forum, so hi all. ive had me xbox modded for a while now, and like eveyone had my fair share of teething problems. but now have a new problem which has occured on mine and a friends.
ok here goes, all is running fine until i installed the new 007 game usin the avalible patches and all worked ok, until a new level loaded and then it froze. i then came on this forum to find some good info, and then was told to try and change my PAL xbox to NTSC. i then rebooted, and now just hangs on my boot screen. loads screen then XECUTER 2 appears undearneath then hangs.

my mate done all the same, but he didnt change the PAL or NTSC options, but adjusted the screen resolution in the same xbmp menu. then has same symptoms. hmmmmmmmmm

i havnt a clue, but if this happend to 2 differnt machines in a nite, then im sure this has happend to some one else. im not sure even if the 007 game has anything to do with it, but befor it was installed, i had no prob adjustin pal and screen resolutions.

the 007 patches dont work for PAL versions of the game

i know mate, thanks to these forums, i have the full ntsc version. game seems to work fine. any idea on the freezing issue?

If I really wanted to I could get the original NTSC 007 XBE's and the patched ones hex edit them and find the difference. Copy that difference to notepad. Open the PAL 007 XBE's search for that string and change it. Then make ppf's for all to share.


But Im not that motivated.

cheers, but the issue is not the game, its the fact my xbox now refuses to boot in xbmp, just hangs on the boot up screen.
it dosent boot since i changed it to 16:9, normally no prob. just was a prob since game was installed. i cant ftp into it, but still can play games from officail game discs, hmmmmm is such a new one to me. please, any ideas welcome

i cant get into the xbmp dashboard, if the chip is off i can accsess the original dashboard. and can boot normal games from officail cds if the chip is on, which means the xbox is fully working. i cant change any settings back, as yet again boot screen just hangs there. if any ones is the same as mine, you get 2 parts to the boot screen, you get xbox logo, and then name of the chip appears underneath, telling me its working fine, but it just stays on that boot screen. its so weird and if i then put a game in, it runs, but theres no way so far i can ftp into it, or do anything else.

and boot back from some boot cd
like slayers or evox via a cd
and redo the whole thing
it should be fine again
just dont change it like u did last time

ok i didnt tell the solution properly so heres a half detailed way of correcting it:

turn your box off, and pop in your old original xbox harddrive, set the time in your original dashboard.

turn off xbox.

pop in your upgraded hard drive, turn on with slayers boot disc.

change your region.

reset.

all works fine again.

AXmichigan, tell me more about your 120g hd problem, being locked in another machine, i might be able to rattle up a solution.

and your 200g problem sounds like a bios prob, what chip u got?
also if ya havent checked already, run it as a slave in ya pc, just to check the drive isnt faulty, you can format it in windows to run, if it works, then we need ta find ya a new bios.

for the solution, u actually dont need put the old hdd in, cuz when u change the time there, it only changes the time for that hdd... makin the effects negligible..
if u can get the new one to boot via a slayer, then u should be good
about those problems.. check ur pm 8)

thats were your wrong mate, cause havin same prob before with vice city, to set clock i done the same. put in old hd set time put in new hd and time was set. it honestly works. try it if ya dont belive me lol

i just figured that cuz the only thing the system runs off of is the bios and the hdd
and the hdd is where it saves the info
so if u add the ideas together
u should get the picture
