Everything works fine, i download the game from the xbox (D drive) to my harddrive using ftp. all the files are there including default.xvb. the problem starts when i try to burn the game. I can not use recordnow max because it does not recognize my dvd burner (LG Electronics) i did howerver try nero 6 with make data cd. I also tried converting the files to xiso than using nero 6 image burn. I tried everything and all i come up with is this cd cant be rocognized or my be dirty. Yes i do have a mod chip :p can it be my dvd'S im using dvd-r the brand is called pioneer. I have ruined already 7 blanks trying to back up my kids scooby doo game. i could of purchased a second one by now. Please any info will be nice thanks I would like to add my friend backs up his games and work fine on my x-box |
try this

and also i tried burning scooby doo again with neo 6 and i when i insert the game into the xbox it freezes on the trade mark screen. Im i doing something wrong? |
try this
try making an xiso and using dvd decrypter in iso write mode
|
Thanks for your help cactus, ill try that now and post the results ;)
|
Well Im up to 9 waisted blank dvd-r
WHen i go to play the game it now gets to the copyright intro page and just sits there and does nothing. does this sound like bad media dvd or something im doing wrong ? t his are the steps i just did networked xbox to pc ftp all game files in the D drive of xbox to my harddrive patched default.xvb file used xiso to convert the game to an iso loaded dvd decrypter and burned game using ISO I dont think my modchip needs flashing update cause it works fine with other backed up games by my friend What would you all try next? |
First of all never use xiso to make iso's. It's bugged to f**k. I would recommend that you make a iso of your files using Craxtion and use Alcohol 120% to burn it, if you can't get RNM to work properly. In addition, i would also flash to the latest bios aswell and patch the default.xbe for best results.
Another thing to try out: 1) make sure all IRG's are off in evox; 2) make sure the date and time is set correctly in browser; 3) Use a decent brand of dvd-r (Ritek) dark purple dye surface. |
OK i also tried that and seems everything i try to back up only goes as far as the intro page. i also tried backing up my game "enter the matrix" is this game possible? I contacted the person who installed the mod chip and he said its not a mod chip he installed, its a t-sop. could this be a problem? if so what do i do
|
Will someone please explain to me what im doing wrong. I been reading and following instuctions the past 3 days and still have not backed up one of my games, why do i only get to the intro page? i tried the matrix game and same thing, it only loads to a black screen. I tried all kinds of diffrent dvd-r media. Theres one thing left to do and that is throw my xbox out the window but im saving that as last resort :p

Sounds like you have a few different things going on here. First of all, you say your friend's backups work on your Xbox. Have you tried to have your friend backup one of the games you are trying to back up, like Scooby Doo on his equipment and play it on your Box? Maybe you could duplicate whatever he does.
If what he does involves using RecordNow Max, try D/l the latest engine from either Stomp or Sonic Solutions which is PXengine408, that will hopefully recognize your LG drive. Another thing is you mention default.xvb files, did you mean default.xbe files, which is the Xbox executable? You can patch them with Craxtion, or you can use DVD2Xbox to copy & patch your original game to the Xbox HD. As for making an iso, I use Qwix 101, it has never failed me. After that, you should have a patched iso ready to burn. Either with RecordNow if PXEngine 480 recognized your drive or any of the above mentioned progs that can burn an iso, ie; Alcohol or possibly Nero. One last thing, have you ever tried to run the game from your Xbox HD and if so, does it work? Good luck Mike T. |
I never tried to run the game from the xbox hd simply because im a newbie to xbox. i have the original hd and not sure how to go about doing it. I really dont want to start learning something new until i have this backup problem resolved. But i will look into the tutorials about that if its going to help me with my problem. Just to make sure the files where being burnt to my dvd-r i placed it into the xbox and used ftp to view the files, and it looks like an exact copy of the original, so i know the files are being burned properly, just not sure why it wont play. Im going to try the file you asked me to see if recordnow max will recognize my dvd burner thanks
|
The reason I asked if you were able to run the game from your HD is because if you could, you eliminate the possibility that the default.xbe isn't being patched.
Mike T. |
good point mike lol. is there a tutorial on how to put a game on my xbox hd. i told you im a newbie. Ill use the copy i downloaded to my hd and ftp it back to the xbox but on what drive letter? and how do i access it after thanks
|
Since you have the "stock" Xbox HD, you would FTP the game to drive E:. Depending on whether you have EVOX loaded on your HD or you boot EVOX from a disk, make sure the proper comments are in the ini file. These comments should point to the E: drive for GAMES. Read the 2 stickies on EVOX for Dummies and the Newbie guide and you should be ok.
I would recommend patching the game's default.xbe with Craxtion if you FTP it. Otherwise I would recommend DVD2Xbox to copy the game to your Xbox E: drive because it autopatches the game. How did you make out with the PXengine408? Good Luck, Mike T |
Hey mike
the file for recordnow max didnt work, it still wont support my lg dvd burner. im uploading the matrix game now to the xbox e: drive and made sure the evox.ini points to it. its almost uploaded as we speak so ill post back soon |
matrix didnt fit on the e drive so im trying a smaller game ill edit this post when done

Ok sorry this thread is becoming long
I backed up scooby doo to the xbox hard drive and it works like a charm. Now why wont it work when i back it up to dvd-r? |
ok maybe it's best if you step by step type how your backing up your game and then everyone can have a better insight into how your doin it and maybe try to help it has to be the way your backing up your owned games
|
ok these are the steps im taking on backing up my original games
1. connect xbox to pc through router connection 2. use flashftp to log onto xbox 3. put my original game in my xbox 4. creat a directory called scoobydoo on my HD 5. select D: drive on xbox and transfer files over to my harddrive directory scoobydoo i just created. 6. patch the default.xbe file using ISOCraxtion-v31. by selecting TOOLS than ISO/XBE PATCHER than i select the default.xbe file in my harddrive in my scoobydoo directory. than i click PATCH. 7. use ISOCraxtion-v31 to creat iso file. 8. use nero 6. select burn image to disk. select dvdimage, select the iso i just created, select write speed 1x, select finalize disk, click on burn. Thats it thos are my steps. I have also tried other software likde dvddecrypter but same thing, all my games after burned go as far as the intro page or a black screen than just sit there. what can i be doing wrong? |
well thats just what i do
the only thing i can think of is try the ones you do on your friends xbox if i does work then its your xbox dvdrom drives got fussy about the dvd-r media you are using and maybe you could try a different brand and if it dont work then yep it's your dvd writer just don't like nero or the media aswel or both! have you gone to the stomp website and searched for an update for RNM because they normally provide updates for things like this whats the model number for you dvd writer and i'll help look for update for you |
I have the LG model GSA-4040b
I have called every computer store in my area and they all sell this LG one. i cant find a HP or sony or other brand anywhere in this area. Im willing to go buy another dvd burner to resolve this probelm. |

See this post http://www.fileforums.com/showthread...threadid=57455 regarding PX Engine and your 4040b LG burner with RecordNow Max. In answer to your PM, if you were to buy another DVD burner, I would go for a Pioneer A07/107. I hope that this answers your question(s) :) |
Thanks for all your help and time you put in. im very greatfull.
I have found the problem why i couldnt back up my games. This was the problem. ERROR when making the iso file i would load ISOCraxtion-v31, click on tools than iso/xbe patcher than i would point to the scoobydoo default.xbe file and click patch...it would than patch and the pop up would come up and say patched succesfully. now at the bottom right hand side click creat iso, this would creat my scoobydoo.iso. Now i would load neo 6 and burn image file but it wasent burning properly when finished. FIX I tried again but this time using this prosedure. load ISOCraxtion-v31, at the bottom left hand side click add, point to the folder of the scoobydoo files and click next, select a folder to destination of the iso file and click finish. now the pop up comes up and says all xbe files patched. now at the bottom right hand side click creat iso, this would creat my scoobydoo.iso. Now i would load neo 6 and burn image file. This has worked like a charm. I dont know what the diffrence would be but at this point i dont care anymore :p This forum is awsome, alote of people willing to help, and the tutorials are great, THANK YOU for everyone that helped me |
yeah it must of need to patch more than 1 xbe file some have more than one
i'm sorry i havent got the scooby doo game so i didn't know it had more than one glad you sorted it though its really annoying when it's one simple software settings problem |
