I need shipping insight
 

Dose any one know of a shipping company that ships heavy items from the UK to the US at a decent cost? Items around 100lbs each (45kg). Any thing but UPS or FedEx.

FedEx and UPS want $550 per box so thats why I don’t want to use them. Its all most cheaper for me to fly over there and bring them back my self.

erm, i don't think i can help with this one. I still can't believe they actually charge 550 for each, what a rip.

Ya no kidding, its insane. But I think I will just have to eat it and pay that any way.

For the cost of a round trip flight, hotel rooms, food, ect ect it would cost more to go over and get them. Plus the fact they would chage more to put that kinda weight on the plane.

Oh well..

Hey rms2001 you should try to call some of the airlines there in the U.K. Sometimes you can ship stuff like that (it's called airfrieght). I think British Airways and I know united has an air fieght.hope this gives some help....

I’d get more, but shipping sucks ass with 20 so… At the very minimum I will get 4 or 5, but getting and paying for 20 isn’t a problem, shipping is.

An XBox new in its box is about 10 pounds, 20 x 10 = 200lbs

It sucks I don't own a business b/c I would just write the shipping off on my taxes. :p

Dirty - I looked into that all ready. I need an account with them or I need to call the UK for a rate. No way and I paying for phone call to the UK just to get a shipping rate. If I did it better be a really hot chick on the other end and be willing to go out to dinner. :rolleyes:

Oh wow this is the first I have heard of the Special Edition Crystal Pack XBoxes. I just did a search and found this picture of it. Way cool. Could just imagine how cool it would look with the LED's from a mod inside and a lite fan. oh oh and the jewel would look cool back lite too!!

Well 20 seems like a good round number. As I said, I can get and pay for 20, shipping them over here is a real problem.

Well since you have been to X-S and seen my replys on this, you know people really want them. Some have commented on paying $400+ to buy one of these. Even a few people at Bill's XBox forums have said the same so...

I don't know. I think I'll just stick them on eBay and see what happens. Originally I’d plane to only get four or so. One to keep, one to trade with another user for a Jap blue one, and one to have laying around and sell. But Than I got thinking…

I even called British Airlines to see what a round trip ticket would cost me. Around $500 - $600. But I figure after the taxes, hotel costs, food, and maybe a few things to do over there, it would cost more than the shipping. Plus I can only carry 140lbs worth of stuff on the plane with me. With out having to pay even more...

To bad these weren’t coming out in July, b/c I’m going over them than. Damn you Microsoft, rally have to make it hard for me huh? LOL

hey rms how did you find out about the clear ones? because i'm in the uk and i never knew nothing about them they aren't advertised yet or anything and i want one they would look pretty cool with all the lights and the jewel light i need a clear xbox :(

The info was leaked, than posted at Xbox-Scene. Than MS came along and said it was all true.

LOL ya you don't seem to be the only one who dose not know about them in the UK. I called GAME (I'm sure you know who they are) and they didn't even know about them until I forwarded the info.

I'm trying to see if I can get them to sell me an order that big and shipping direct from them so I don't dont to deal with a 3rd party.

Also got UPS to give me a WAY better shipping rate of $500 over the other one of 1k. So maybe this will all work out. It will take one more day, but who cares.

I use them from japan quite a lot and they're fast and a neogeo cd (Quite weighty) cost me $70 to come over in 3 days

I found out but it won't help..I do get about 75% off fedEx domestic and 3$ anywhere fedex ground through a buddy that is a manager. And I do work for one of the airlines .... So I've always wanted to see the U.K. and europe. Some of it at least......sorry no help

i'm looking to buy one of these crystal clear xbox's but.... i've heard they can't be chipped is this true? a couple of people have told me now

Its not that they can't chiped. The problem lies with in a rumer of a new video encoder.

And with a new video encoder would mean the BIOS would have to be hacked so we could have video on it with a hacked BIOS. This would take some time just has the hack for the Force video encoder did for the v1.4 and v1.5 XBoxes did.

As for getting one, good luck. It seems no one has any info on this. The CO I'm working with dose not even have a price on them yet. I talked with two other people and they both said non of their local shops have info or even a pre-order / reserve list.

Seems a little odd with only six days to go before they are said to be release.

LOL mojo you guys have the most funky phone ringers I've ever head. After looking around on their site they said they could ship the XBoxes to any where.

So I decided to call them just to be sure. So after fiddling with my phone for about 15min trying to figurer out how to even call the UK I finely got thru. Well come to find out, even though the site they say ships to any where, they won't any way.

Oh well, guess I'm stuck with using a 3rd party after all. I think the guy I talked to was in total shock. After I told him where I was calling from and what I wanted there was a good 10sec of silence on the phone.

It dose look like a pre-order yes. Take a look at the release date they have listed. Its wrong. And they havnt even updated it yet.
Not sure who told them the 6th but that looks like a joke or scam to me.

No worry to me, I have mine ordered and I'm sure they will be on a UPS plane on the 15th headed for my frount door.
