Which chips can be installed in a PS2v9
 

I have a PS2 50001 and was about to get a chip for my PS2.I talked with a installer where i live and he only told me that the chip that was going to install in my PS2 was red and that he didn't know the name of the chip.So my question is if you have any idea what chip is he talking about.

Probably a magic v.

or some crap mod that they talk about on ownz. carnt remember the name only has 19 wires.

i belive matrix MXL works on 9 as well as dms3 which what i have and it works great i had a magic V and had nothing but problems with it then it killed my ps2 :(

Are you sure it was the chip? The V9's have been dieing on there own with out any chips. Also if I remember right you where told you where getting one chip installed then turned out you got another. I wonder why that happened. Hmmmm

yeah he stuck a magic V in there instead and like 80 % of the dead v9s that i read eather had magiv V or messiah i have not seen any about smart chip or dms3 and also i heard v10s have the same problems as 9 so i guess its not just v9s

hmmm, I have seen reports about dead DMS3 PS2's ,just as much as the M2 .... very few about Magic V though

However I doubt that any of them where from the chip.... more like bad installs or crappy PS2 boards

Thanks for answering my question.I'm going to get my PS2 modded this Monday.I hope everything goes okay because i already had a bad experience when i tried to get my v4 modded.

Me too probobly because theres too much heat on those ic chips and causing to short out. Hmm.... i wonder if the fan has something to do with it?

Alright guys i'm a bit confused.I talked with the guy that was going to install the chip on my PS2 and found out that chip is a friggin Magic 3.5.Fortunately i was short on money so i didn't get my PS2 modded.

I thought the Magic 3.5 didn't work in a PS2 50001!?but he told me that he has installed 4 chips already in another clients PS2 50001 and that they worked fine.

I talked with another installer in my area and he offered a chip called Max 2 or something he say that the chip reads every thing.Have you heard anything about this chip?

there are some dodgy f****d up mod chips on the market atm. where abouts do you live and i can reccomend u an installer.

I have installed the Mars MA-501 on my 50001 version 9 working fine. The only bad point about it right is only DVD Region 1 (no dvd region X yet)

How much money do you ask for installing the chip Tyler?(Whichever chip you think is the best for my PS2 50001)

When i think i have enough money i will ask you some other questions.

u got a v9? hmmmm tyler? you would have to use a magic 50k for that install.

Ill just have to look at it. If I really want to I may just do it for free. I really dont wanna get into competition with the other installers around here. I normally do installs for friends for free.

Alright tyler i understand you but the problem is that i need to calculate the money i'm going to spend in this very carefully because you know i'm not rich and i'm very carefully when spending money so i really need to know if you are going to charge me money or not for the install.

About the friend thing we could do something like in that game Romance of the Three kingdoms 8:

First we need to go under a peach tree and do the following:

after that we would be Sworn Brothers and you could do the free install.
