Hi,
I have only one simple question! how easy is it to copy a DVD PS2 game??? I Have a LG 4040 that copys +/- R. Can I copy it with nero 6???? Please help me!! Thanks in advance!!! Figo Portugal EM 2004 !!!!!!!!!:D |
Easy. Go to this site:
http://www.mjpaul.freeserve.co.uk (You have to have a modchip to use backups however). |
Hey Lufc, I understand you want people to visit your site. But geesh man, we here at fileforums have posted stickies and worked hard to give out info. Heck people came here and spent time to register to ask questions here. I just think its a touch annoying when people register someplace ask a question then another person says "visit my site for all the answers" then they have to register there. Especially since we have all the answers here.
Would you mind just linkin them to our stickies since they came here in the first place? Heck I could understand if you had info that we dont have here and you only linked when that particular situation arose. I mean I really dont go to your forums and post links every chance I get to the FileForums website. Tyler! |

LUFC's leaving speech:- I really don't want to get into this, but to be honest, I can't see all the fuss and problems about helping people. That is what we are here for and if you want to post links all over my forum, go ahead and do so - it helps people. That is what we are here for and if I feel that something will help someone, i'll post it... I didn't want to get into this little arguement but there you go. I just don't want to see this forum go down like PS2newz/ownz did by arguements - I've been here too long for that, and this is why I hate doing things like this. Hope you understand what I am saying, whilst I understand what you are saying (and not starting a major warfare in the meantime)... LUFCfan :D |
Youve got a PM.

Wooh, anyhoo, My 4040B (about $115 US) came with B’s Recorder Gold 5.32. Very easy to use program, no coasters yet and I even buned a mode2 BIN image and an ISO image in “add track” even tho they were not listed as supported files in the brows window, just pick view all files. Also backed up a multisession CD no problem. It could have more options and it doesn’t give a whole lot of info about your burning and I don’t know how it would handle a bad sector yet. Solid program anyway.
It sucks that all my old burning software no longer works but I ran into that same problem years ago when I got a new CDR burner. |
So tha B's Recorder GOld is a good program?
I havn't tried it yet.. I also have a LG 4040B firmware A301 |
Mmm, B’s Good. I noticed when burning CDR’s on the 4040B at 24X the surface gets rings fading out toward the edge. Is this normal, the CDR’s work good n’ everything… no rings at 8X speed. Just wondering if anyone else noticed this with this drive.
|
I got those on my LiteON 24x too...
and it is that it burns at different speeds.. at 8X it uses a constant speed but 16x and higher (i think it is at 16x) it starts to use z-clv (different speeds) I think it starts at 12x and spinns up after awhile to 16 or 20x then the last part in 24x I got rid of it when I updated the firmware. I havn't noticed any rings on my 4040B. I use the A301 firmware. What firmware du you use? maybe it will e solved in the newer firmware. less noticable anyway. If I'm correct then my LiteOn deasn't stop burning even when it spinns up...I'm not sure but the rings have more or less dissapered. *I know that I can be confusing.....but I hope that it brings some light anyway* |

Ok, but mostly the update to A301 will be a better burn and recognition of DVD discs...
You need the A301 to burn DVD-R at 4x. the princo ones anyway. is it when you burn data discs or audio discs that you get the rings? WHat I can recall I don't have that problem.. Got to try make a 24x burn on mine..... Data then I guess.... |
I have now tested to burn a cd-r at 24x.
No rings at all. the only one I can see is where the burn ended. |
Oh man this sucks!! I flashed my 4040B from A300 to A301 and now my princo media burns are not reading in my PS2. One game doesn’t boot at all, the other skips and locks up. I should have known better when I seen the utility had no option to back up the old firmware. I got some other media ordered but won’t be in for a while yet! Damn Damn, Ahhhh!!!
I'm chipping a V7 tonite, I'll see if these damn princo's work in that. |
What?
I use Princo too and they works like a dream in my V5. Ok, havn't tried any PS2 backups.. only DVD movies.. The A301 is for the princo dvd-r discs...so you can burn them in 4x not only 2x. |
I’m stumped, I don’t know what’s going on! I tried the 2 DVD-R’s on the V7 and one worked the other just does the PS2 logo and hangs, then I tried my V4 and One works one does not so maybe just that one DVD-R for some reason. I can’t tell if it’s not reading the CD or what. I don’t think any NTSC games need patches or anything!? It is ATV Offroad 2.

Change media. Princo suck. Princo aka Bulkpaq aka choice dvd-r r generally bad media. Yep....I not arguing that some people get these dvd-r to boot fine but u gotta get out of this mindset that it ain't the fact that yr ps2 will boot it but what damage am i doing to the laser while I boot it.
Everyone here bends over backwards to recommend decent dvd-r media that won't damage yr ps2 but everyone still goes rushing out and buys the first media they come across and starts rammin it into their machine. I wouldn't put a princo anywhere near any of my ps2's. The reason My version 5 is now daughters and only has originals put in it was cos I used to use bulkpaq and after about 6 months the machine wouldn't even look at any dvd-r. Traxdata and Ritek r the best media by far for any ps2 an I recommend u switch to them and your hanging problems will be solved. Sorry, didn't mean to rant on!!! Regards:D |
I know that Princo isn't the best choice, not even close.
I just using the discs I bought awhile ago. Going to buy better brands after this but Ritek is no good media in my burner at the time when I bought the princos... maybe it is solved now but beleive it or not. Princo was almost the best media for this burner.... It burnt them close to perfect while riteks disc almost failed burning. But I think that was in an earlier firmware.. it should be fixed by now. And I have finally found a supplier that have the ritek discs at a human price.... |
This is why I will never buy anything other than a Pioneer. They have the ultimate firmware support.
|
Well, it was the old G01 disc they had tested...
and I'm pretty sure it was on the old firmware A103 or A104, now they have released A301 so I guess it is solved now. If not then they must be crazy at LG, ritek is known as a High quality brand. |
What I mean wit human price is that now I can get 10 dvd-r with G04 dye for about $20
but when I looked before they took $55 for it. |
Even better than that here
|
That was a really good price, tha sad thing is that it would cost $47 in shipping fee... :(
|
Ahh Sweden. Maybe either of these two places will suit you better.

Princo’s are hard to resist with next cheapest media in town being almost 3X more expensive. I think I can get some Verbatims for 50 cents more but from what I read they are no good either. I guess I’ll just have to get some different types and do my own experiments because what works best in one drive may not work good in another drive. It’s hard to believe these Princo’s I’ve burned can damage a PS2 any more than any other media when they work great and are just a quiet and boot faster than the original DVD (except for the last 2 that I burned after I updated the firmware).
LG’s site sucks, I couldn’t find anything on it. I found the A301 update on some foreign language site. From 4040B manual: DVD-R: Pioneer, FujiFilm, Maxell, TDK are recommended. DVD+R: Taiyo Yuden, Ricoh. |
Yep, LG's site really sucks..
The firmware was put under CD/RW section not under DVD-ROM and is differs so much between the different service sites. at one site the firmware is under DVD-ROM and on next I couldn't find it at all and then on next it is under CD/RW. I have wtritten a letter to them announcing this problem. They can't have everything on different places and it should be under the right section too.. Guess what? havn't got any reply on it either. ------------- Strange that you could burn the princos before your update and now you can't.. Mine works so damn good, like you say... no louder sound, boots quick.... the only sound is when you pop the disc in and it searches for the disc....as it should be... But I can't just ignore what they say here either...and who knows, in a year the laser may give up and that would be a sad thing.... At the times that I can afford it I will use better brands... |
You're right. Trying to find the updated Fw. for my DVD-ROM was a nightmare! Foreign, and the spelling mistakes when in English were at times amusing. :D
|
i would only use princos for movies. thats cause most dvd players can read just about anything. ps2 is a more fragile system so i would ony ever use taiyo yuden, maxell or ritek on it. there are no DVD-R's that compare to these yet.
|
I’m starting to believe you guys about princo’s killing lasers because now even the first DVD-R’s I burned are barely working in my V4. I still believe the A301 upgrade made my burns weaker for some reason. I’ve had no success loading full 4.3 Gig games, only games that take around 3GB’s and under work. On top of that I think I got ripped off on my Maxell DVD-R’s, the guy’s not responding. I had no Idea it would be such a pain to get working media!! After years and years of using PSX backups on the cheapest junk I can find with no problems at all… I picked up a few DVD-R’s under the name Attera to try out. The ID shows MXL RG01, are these any better?
Well, I guess they are Maxell and they don't work at all! I had better luck with Princo's! I'm starting to get pissed with this!!!!! |
