dose any body know if u can get online with this with both boardband and 56k or just boardband cause im thinking of buying it but if its only board band like every other good thing that comes out on the ps2 net then it would be worthless to me

just 1 last ? about this dose this take a dongle like the gs2 or can u use a any old mem card cause i seen that it comes with a mem card

Yes, needs a dongle.....Yes, needs a BB Connection. PS2 networking won't work wiv anything else.

well that sucks i guess i wont get one aftr all cause it dose no good for 56k user i wouldnt like the idea of it begin online every time i turn on the ar2 any ways phew im gald u told me cause i was about to bid on one on ebay olny reason iwanted is the code update but sence i cant use it with 56k i will just stick with my gs2

I just got the AR Max upgrade disk and I only have dialup connection,
so I connected my PS2 to PC through ethernet port and now I can use it's online features with the help of my PC 56K modem.
I wonder why they don't support dialup connection because the biggest update that I've downloaded, only was about 1MB. :)

is it hard to do that way ? cause i got a eather net port on my pc but with me if its hard to do then i wont be able to do it i suck at setting up connects and stuff. I guess they think that ever body in the world has BB so they make it that away i dont even know why that put the 56k opition on the modem cause ever game thats good is BB only resone why i think they did the 56k so they could sell more knowing not many games will support it. But if it ant to hard to do i will give it a try the way u did it :)

What is your PC OS ? if you have win XP, it will be very easy.
also for connecting your PS2 directly to pc ethernet port, you need a crossovered lan cable, like this one

yeah i got xp so i will give it a shot then :) only thing is i would h8 to waste 30$ on the ar max if i cant get it to work :( i could always sell it on ebay if worse comes to worse

Ok first get the cable, and I help you to set up your network, then if everthing goes right, get AR Max.

could i play games like midnight club 2 this way ? cause its a BB only game

you can play midnight club 2 online, only up to 2 player and sometimes with a good dialup connection up to 3 player, more than 3, you'll be disconnected.
although I play the PC version of this game up to 4 player everynight.

I just visited the support section of codejunkies forum and there are people that AR Max has corrupted their memory card, It's better that you also see that section.
another issue that I experienced, when I download a save file with AR Max and load the game with that save, I can't overwrite the save file and it give me a corrupted file.
I think they didn't test AR Max carefully and it's like a beta product.

you can connect to the internet with PS2 56k modem, but there are few games that support dialup connection and some programs like AR Max and BB navigator are broadband only.
Although in some cases you can fool them with connecting your PS2 to your PC and use your PC modem.

do you still want to buy AR Max with those issues that I told you ?

yeah the ones on ebay come with a 8 mb mem card i seen and i also own 2 mem cards so i will give it a shot i will look for a 5ft cable i dont think 3 will be long enough but at least i know im on the right track
