Ps2 Scph-50001
 

I just went to walmart yesterday and picked up a 50001 here in central US. What options do i have for chipping this thing? Any insite on this new model will be greatly appreciated.

None. The Messiah 2 1.31 doesn't work with US consoles. It shouldn't be long for the 1.32 though.

What doesn't work on 50001 withj Messiah 2 v1.31? Specifically what is the problem?

did the just skip the v8 units totaly in the U.S.? and here in the mid west there still 39001 systems besides the online bundles which i think there v7's just with a modem also

I don't know what the problem is. www.foundmy.com just say it isn't compatible. I would ask them, as they did the testing.

- Well, we finally did out test, and guess what??? The M2 Pro v1.31 is not compatible with the SPCH-50001.
- We await the M2 Team to contact us and let us if they want to support the SCPH-50001 model.
- Now we wait for the DMS3 team to send us their product to see how well its compatible with the SPCH-50001!!!"

Just want some opinions! I have this 50001 that cannot be chipped right now so, what do you guys think i should do? Wait for a chip for a 50001 or return it and get a 39001?

There now is a report that the 1.31 does work with the US v9. Put things on hold until these conflicting reports are settled.

Thats actually your choice. You can either wait or return. Heck flip a coin.

That is what they claim, but it is the same laser that can be found in v5-v8.

I just hate choppy video, my PS2 is so sensitive not even all Ritek's work on it, I just buy a batch of Ritek DVD-Rs, and maybe they will work, or maybe they won't. :S

Just got one yesterday as well..No rush for me on the chip compatibility..Whenever..Been busy playing KawaX and MameX on the Xbox so I can wait..No Prob!!:)

Has it always been like that or did it suddenly start acting up? Some v7 lasers aren't adjusted properly for dvd backups. Could need a tweeking.

She has always been that way. In fact, I had to do the white cog adjustment to get to that level of worky.

Most of the Ritek's I get work, it's just when I get a bad batch of em I start dreaming of greener v9 pastures. ;)

both charlie an dust got v9's an they say workin like a charm on dvd-rw backups so although the same laser in it probably adjusted an optimised for dvd-r/+r/rw/+rw.

Breezy- Hang onto it 4 now cos it is an all round better machine an according to dust Messiah 2 1.32 should be around some time over the next month or so.

Mach7 - Sounds like yr ps2 laser needs calibrating an to be quite honest it a pain in da arse an gettin a version 9 would be simpler al round. At least then if it don't play dvd-r u can send it back.

Has anyone tried the smartchip or magic v 50k at http://www.evolutionmods.com ? wondering if these work ok in a v9 50001 usa ps2.

Get a Magic V for your 500001 Model, it works on it flawlessly. I would highly reccomend it. The only different in Magic V and Messiah 2 is that Messiah 2 works on all versions, but Magic V only works on 7-9 and Magic V is much cheaper. Get a Magic V, it wont let you down.

Ottoman, the Magic V is every bit as good as the Messiah 2. I have had no trouble with it. All that counts is for your games to boot everytime right ? Well Magic V does that, plus its alot cheaper. I agree that the M2 was the best, but now it has a little competitition

I don't want to sound like I am knocking the messiah team but I do kind of agree with jmj2500. Even though I myself have a M2 in my machine.... there is allot of competition for the messiah team these days. As a matter of fact they are getting put down a bit lately with this whole V9 blunder. I don't believe it is a big deal as I am sure they will have a A-1 chip in no time. But also precisionmods.com has stopped supplying M2's because of there lack of consistent quality and not replacing defective chips. But like I said the messiah team is not the only top dog any more. I myself have become fond of the apple chips ....and look at the mars team they seam to have a mod that is working on all V9 50k machines. Anyway like I said this is in no way a bag on messiah as I myself would recommend one...but there are just as good of alternatives and even cheaper ones.

I don't believe this. The magic has been plagued from beginning to end with bad chips with bad features that don't deliver the goods that other chips can. Magic has always been a kind of cheap compromise compared to other chips.

Okay, so they've finally got it right with version 5 but they still have a long way to go to win back confidence that they've destroyed with p1ss poor other chips.

M2 1.31 has a minor glitch. It still boots everything, okay so u have to reset between swapping dvd-r's, so what. At least they were big enough to admit this was a mistake and promise a M2 1.32 that would sort this problem.

Every time the magic chip has failed to perform its just a shrug an tough sh1t attitude. Thats the chip you've got guys.

Let me just close this by saying that I got a version 9 sat here waiting for M2 1.32. I would never even consider droppin a magic in it. Magic is just riskin that sumfin won't boot lata on.
