Best 1st-person shooter game?

now dont laugh but the last 1st-person-shooter game i played was doom#1, but as i wanna buy a new game like it, but modern, i'm asking here for members opinions, on whats the best '1st-person' game i should get.
- all it needs is to have action+adventure an i'll be happy :)

Half-Life and Deus Ex are the cream of the crop. Chaser is an excellent FPS too (Definately the best game of the year so far).

My favorite is STAR TREK ELITE FORCE II. It makes fun in single player and also in LAN. DELTA FORCE BLACK HAWK DOWN is also very funny, but only in MultiPlayer.
I have seen the CHROME Trailer, and it seems this game will be my newest investment...

hmmm....ya know ive played lots of FPS and im still hooked on Soldier of Fortune 2:Double Helix. :cool: dont know what it is about that game but...i always go back to it whenever i try to play a different online mp. its just plain ol fun. :D Jedi Knight is another good one. I havent played Jedi Academy yet but plan on doing so very very soon! I've heard good stuff about it. Then theres Battlefield 1942 ;) good game as well. hey Viracocha your signature rocks man..it always cracks me up. Lmao!!!:D :D :D

Another good FPS is Medal of Honor: Allied Assualt. Its ashame its expansion packs sucked.
Call of Duty, from the demo does indeed look as though as it will be good, but from what I have seen and played in the demo, it just feels like Medal of Honor all over again. Time will Tell.
If Viracocha can include Max Payne (not an FPS, but plays like one), then I want to include Freedom Fighters. One of the best games of the year, second only to Chaser :D

Best 1st person shooter game experience ever for me was Half-Life.
Truly a great game.

Medal of Honor was near great but I got stuck in the village mission, so I never completed it. For on-line play though, Medal of Honor, and the various mission packs are exceptional.

If you want something a little different. System Shock Two was a ton of fun. Creepy as all hell. Game can be played in many different ways and especially as a 1st person shooter.

Desert Storm was the best single player, if you had the balls to stay with it :),and keep the same men all the way through the game.To bad they didn't have desent multiplay,and the power ups I hate that power up crap;to lame.

If you want something thats going to act as a laxative seriously recommend Clive Barkers Undying and best of all it's out on budget........

Raven Shield multiplayer

It's depend how your deffinition of 1st shooting game is.

Like Eagle write in his list Operation Flashpoint, but it isn't realy a 1st shooting game. It's 1st shooting viewe but not a game base on you must shoot much to getting forwad in the game and into the next level.

Operation Flashpoint is more like The Best War Strategy Game in 1st shooting viewe.

BattleField1942 is more and altarnativ 1st shooting game.


The clasic ones like Doom1, 2, 3 and Quake 1, 2 and Unreal 1, 2 and Wolfein Stien and Igi and James Bond, and much more that are just shooting and kill and not much strategy and more just kill and servival. (I don't iclude quake 3, becuase is multi-player based. Note: Doom 3 are comming)

Medal of houner is one between category, betwen 1st shooting and war ****ing stupid thing. Is in war structer but it's not much strategy or realistic just kill kill kill kill.

Operation Flashpoint as I write before, is more like, 2, 3, 4, 5 kill the Man 6 a clock. 7, 8, 9 screw your self.
More controll of your own man and not just get credit about how many "bad" guys you killed.

Blackhawk Down is a lighter version of Operation Flashpoint, is the same thing, but more basic stuff. Operation Flashpoint is for the more advanced guys to play.

Since i have beat medal of honor allied assult and spearhead MANY times, battlefield 1942 because its a really nice multiplayer game, cs for the realistic NOW DAY first person shooter and Serious Sam 2 for its funny remarks and outstanding gameplay!

IMO Spearhead sucked...
no great scripted events etc, only masses of enemies to shoot ( == Serious Sam 2, which is better than SHl :) )

Original MOH is still the best of them.

I've been having a lot of fun playing Viet Cong. The realism.. is just great.

My favorite = Tactical Ops. Originally a UT mod, now turned retail. 2.2 was my favorite version, the current is 3.4. Pure MP FPS. This game honed my FPS skills.. :) Oh and, after playing this for 2 years then giving CS a try.. CS was waaaaay to easy.

ET gets a few hours out of me every now and then too.

ya ET is fun i play that now and then. spearhead i think is better then allied assult because of the new weopons that came with it.
serious sam 2 i should have put it above cs cause cs gets BOARING fast cause there is no countiues play.

Don't forgett Soldier Of Fortune and Soldier Of Fortune II. ;)

Doom 3, I've tested the Alpha version...yes the stolen one, and yes I don't have it install any-more, but it was just for testing. Kind of booring, little game.. (then later people have reveald how to get forwad and bla bla bla in the game) the point is, VERY nice graphic.

Half-life 2 are comming. But I've got a very important message. Maybe people have heard this, but any way, as you might now, the game was gonna releas in this mounth, but has been delayed to christmas. But now it's seams that it's gonna be even later, maybe the beginning of the next year, or even later, the reason, is the most f*cking thing you ever can imagine what happen to a game devoloper. THE SOURCE CODE of HALF-LIFE 2 has been STOLEN!

If you know anyhing about who did this bloody stupid thing. Please contact the Valve production!

WANKERS i wanted that game this week end i read reveiw they said it be out 30 of september

if you got a hell of a puter than you culd possibly chill with your purchase and wait 4-8 weeks for HalfLife 2 with is going to be a game of the year

btw i dont think that hl2 will be delayed due to stolen source, valve has planned to release HL2 be4 xmas seson and i think their publisher (Activision) will force them to do that nomather they want or not.

I hate hackers and lame bitches that cruse over internet just to mess up ppls lives, but I think that stolen source is going to contribute with mutch better MOD development, witch we gamers will surely enjoy.

What a load of crap surrounding these supposed leaked pieces of code. Valve leaked it themselves in order to delay the game further ;)

Really, this has been a HUGE blow for Valve. All their secret algorithms for AI, graphics etc, for the physics engine, it all is now in the open before the game itself even came out. The interesting thing will be to try to spot which games will come out in the next year that contain the same surprising amount of features but were made by two men and a dog in a few months time. Some people will abuse this heavily and Valve can be assured of losing a lot of potential licensing money.

Half-Life 2 Delayed Until April 2004. Like I have been saying to Rincewind for a while now, the game was only ever going to make a 30th September release if DOOM 3 stayed on schedule for an October/November release. Its pretty obvious that that date was only ever announced so they could trump id Software at retail. Obviously id Software delayed that title, DOOM 3, for whatever reason. This then took the pressure of Valve to release the game for the mentioned date. Which lead to the initial delay. Of course, with Valve maybe relising we should actually put some gameplay into the game, they decided to take the 'drastic' measure of leaking the code so they could delay the game further. The codes useless to everyone, unless your a fanboy.

Valve have been lying to the fanboys all along. ;)

That sounds plausible. Whoa there, cowboy ! There's a famous saying that goes like "Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity". Let's face it, a full third of their source code is out in the open. This would be a huge catastrophy for any developer, especially since Valve is developing so much new technologies, there are more than enough unscrupulous copycat developers that will rip whatever they can to upgrade their own sh*tty games for free. What happened to Valve was a combination of plain stupidity and the fact that perfect network security is hard to maintain. Still, this leak will costs them thousands upon thousands, maybe hundred thousands of dollars. No f*cking way they did the leak themselves, that would be commercial suicide. Did a disgruntled employee do it ? That's a lot more likely but Valve as a company is really damaged by all this.

As for the delay, ofcourse they're going to delay, since the source also contains multiplayer code and code specific to steam. Right now, cheat developers are busy studying the code to be prepared when the game comes out. At the very least they'll have to significantly alter the anti cheat code in Steam. Halflife 2 itself is long finished according to insider sources, but this leak is the sole reason why they delay. The delay still sucks ofcourse, but in this case it's not really Valve's fault, after all the same thing (source code of Windows stolen) happened to Microsoft too.

Come on, who are we, the gaming public, to say how important or real the supposedly leaked code is? All this crap is coming from Valve themselves.. You fanboy ;)

Soldier of Fortune Double Helix is my favorite...Dont like the arcade FPS games...Guess I will try Half-Life...I have it but have never played...Trying to get used to Tron 2.0...Just now getting the gaming bug...:)

Now I've played all the great new FPS's (Jedi Academy, Elite Force I&II, Unreal 2, MoHAA, Soldier of Fortune, etc...), none have begun to top the single player experience of Quake 2--not even Half-Life (damn jumping puzzles.)
And with some of the third-party mods you can still have a reasonably good looking experience with it today.

Now perhaps a little game called Halo might even top Quake 2?

I still love the brutal speed in UT, UT2003 wasn't the same without the sniper rifle >:(
