Chaser Protection
 

Hi !

Who know where Chaser is protected ? I make a security copy and at the installation the CD means thats not the original CD. Does someone know advice as well as I can that remove ?

its a backup from an original cd.

Downlaod Proteciton ID and scan the .exe file! First isntalla the game from the orignal CD. and then scan .exe file.. and then you found what protection the CD dose have!

securom+svkp (incl svkp api)+triggers+armadillo+file crcing is the protection used on chaser.. jowood basically went nuts on it, try using blindwrite

christ, does the game even install with all that **** included?:D
Next step will be putting dongle up your ass, (a so called "anti-warAZZ wrapper"!!!) to ensure you're a legit user.

Of course no one want their games when they're not working properly *even* with originals *cough* <Chaser> *cough*

I have bought Chaser [german version] yesterday.
It (original) don't work in my DVD-Rom, but in my CD-RW (LiteOn).
I don't want to use my CD-RW for playing games, so i make a backup with the fixed exe [englisch version - Will it work?] on it.

The problem is - The Setup checks also for the original cd, so i can use my backup only for playing and not for installing the game.

Does anyone have a fixed setup.exe ?

PS: Until now i can't test the english crack with the german version, because my PC is "dead". WinXp tells me each time with a blue screen [translated by me - sorry] "Windows will shut down for damage preventing. If you have this the first time start new your pc...."

Or use Alcohol 120 in the latest version. Made a working safety copy of the german version with the settings for securom 4.8.xx and Savedisc together.

sorry but i don´t have the setup.exe
from the iMS release anymore, only the cracked ar.exe cuz
i did my own setup (repack) of the original installed files
to bypass the protected setup.

please don´t flame me ;)
i´m sure someone will have the fixed setup.exe soon
and then it´s available on GCW.

glh: i have uploaded the ar.exe into your GCW FTP dir
you can try if it works. i don´t know... post your results.

tippex: what´s the ar.exe on the cd ? this file is checked on setup.
(thought it was securom´ed?)

ar.exe in the \data directory on cd1 i believe (used by chaser.exe when executed (after you install the game successfully), sets up triggers, launches ar.exe, checks triggers and error codes, if good, runs fine, if bad, screws u right up)

ar.exe is securom+triggers i dont think its launched by the installer, i may be wrong though

setup.exe launches math64.dll (or math32.dll dependant on your system) which is the evil armadilloed one (this is the one that causes the 'cd verification error' the big old msgbox kinda thing that happens just before the files are going to install (math??.dll is extracted from the .cab files i think)

if someone wants to backup the ORiGiNAL (!) cds,
you can use my guide (first thread on GCW).

you can export the reg keys required for patching: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Cauldron\Chaser

Yeah, thinking about it.. I might.. But I really dont think GCW will host these files... I might try sending them to *** and see if they will host it...

yea this game is quite cool.
i think drunk will release a nocd in a few hours...
will see if they got all triggers
(theit last crack crashes on mutliplayer and resolution change,
but they get it proper after some days)

And yes this game was very cool, completed it last week, one of the longest, if not the longest FPS I have ever played... and that includes Deus Ex... Its ashame this game will be passed up by many people due to the fact no one has heard of it and Jowood, the UK (and maybe European?) publisher of the game, do not have the money to market it... Fools

Wait till you get back to Mars....if you thought the Underwater Levels were difficult (and someone tell me why people found them difficult? they were piss easy), you havent seen anything yet... ;)

Bit I have the german Version ! The setup.exe of the german version is 643MB big !!! I cant fix it ;-(

Maybe he can split it into 5 Megs parts. And then send one part over 129 days. :D

Another question: Is it possible, to get blood into the german version?

What the hell? 643mb's?? Damn, I was going to say that due to the problems that happened with the UK Retail release, maybe JoWood changed the installer for other countries, I can't help you there then...

actually they didnt, setup.exe was renamed to setup.cab on the ims version and ims used their own setup.exe to handle the protection, obviously on the german release the setup.exe is the proper 643mb one, so you could try renaming it to setup.cab, remastering the disk, adding ims' setup.exe and seeing if that works, it probably wont though as im sure jowood varied the protection slightly for each country

It didn´t works. I rename the german setup.exe into setup.cab and starts the cracked setup.exe. The setup starts but the cd check is alway on.

I hate the german game industrie !!! Every Game was modified and censort.

The official status of your account HedBanger is "waiting to receive email confirmation". Did you ever receive the confirmation email when registering ? And if you did, did you click on the link inside to confirm your registration ?

Edit : there may have been a database problem, setting your official status back to "awaiting email confirmation". In any case, I asked Empire to put you back to registered user status. Can you try your HedBanger account ? It should work again now...

OK, been getting a lot of PM's for this game this week, so I'm guessing its just come out in America.. Anyways, its a waste of time me sending the exes out. Read Tippex's comment at the top of this page as to why it is....
