Successful backup of MoH:AA?
 

I have a Phillips 4801 and used cdrwin to make a backup of Medal of Honor. While the cd will autoplay to the launch screen and install fine, the game will not start and requests cd #1. It works fine with the No-Cd patch at GCW but I was more interested in making a working standalone backup.

Has anyone had any better luck? perhaps with a firmware update or a different prog/util?

MOHAA uses the latest SD2 perotection (2.51.021). Only the Lite-On 24X and 32X will make perfect copies of it, although there has been some success here and there with other writers but don't work everytime. Thenew modified Betablocker might help you make a good copy.

Yes Im sure it has, I really must appoligise for not researching more. I was only borrowing the game so was in a hurry. Guess my ghetto copy will have to do.

Okay small question. I still had the IMG file on my HD and have gotten ahold of Betablocker (as per your recommendation). I extracted the file into the same directory as my image, dragged the image into BB, and then hit the scan button. Nothing seemed to happen.

Whats the normal response to hitting scan? Sorry if this has been covered I tried to search for more info and didnt see any.

Didn't you say that your image was made with CDRWin??

BetaBlocker only works with CloneCD images, as far as I know

or you can convert it...

There is NO way to convert any cd image to a clone one!
The only way you can get a clone image is with clonecd!

Just for my personal information...what IS sposed to happen in BB when you hit scan?

it "searches" the cimage for "weak sectors"...

well i haven' tever tried it,i thought it could happen with a program for handling images...

Umm yeah well that was the whole idea isnt it? I guess I didnt make it clear that I wanted to know "visually" what it is sposed to do/look like.

You drag the CCD image into betablocker then press the search button, it begins searching and it will find weak sectors if it's a Safedisk game. It will say on the screen something like Found weak sector (num) where num is the the weak sector it finds.
It will find a few of these and will tell you, then when you patch it it says the sectors are patched. If it works you will know it (visually)

you could have also found this with a bit of searching.....

you can switch an image from a cdrwin image to a clonecd image. i've never had any use for it, but i downloaded a utility that could convert among the many different image types.
