How to backup Protected Games with nero?

Can anyone tell me how to back up protected games using nero burning rom software?, because on gamesopyworld, it only tells you how to back them up with clone cd, and i cant download that because i keep getting the error message 'zip file if corrupted'

crispy 26-01-2002 12:58

Why haven't you read any posts on this forum??

If you had, you'd see that the best way to get an answer is to post some info about your burner (make and model).

Also, ask yourself this. If most posts and articles on GCW don't mention Nero, what does that tell you about it's capability to copy protected cds??

And.......search the internet yourself. I've just done a google search for "clonecd" and got 78,200 possible entries.
I'd hazard a guess that a download site would be amongst those.

All of us here are more than willing to help, but helping yourself to begin with saves us repeating the same stuf over, and over, and over again.

s100ott 26-01-2002 14:24

Ye, but in GCW it lists alot of programs where you can back up protected games, on that link but it only tells you how to do it for cd clone. I have searched the net but i never know what to type in and i dont get many good results.

My mates cousin is real good on computers and he knows how to backup protected games using nero because he has loads. So i thought with you lot on this site being so good on computers you would be able to tell me what to do. Like do i download a patch and put it on hte game or something.

My mates cousin told him something like u need to download a certian patch and put it on the game and then u need to put these special numbers in which u can get off the net. is this true ???

donmega2 26-01-2002 14:43

Like crispy i will also give it a try. Go to www.google.com, type clonecd, one of the results you get will lead you to a download link. Then you got the program which is able to copy everything if you got the right burner (Whats the secret about ur burner ?). You can also copy CD content to HD and burn then with Nero. After installation you need to crack the game on the HD to NoCD or Backup to be able to play. U can try to put cracked files in CD content folder, then burn with the cracked file, but sometimes it won't install. For sure is, that you won't get a working 1:1 copy of a game with a protection like securom or safedisc or vob or.... if u use Nero !

s100ott 26-01-2002 16:54

ok, i didn't understand a word of that sorry

Riki 26-01-2002 18:40

####://codeseekers.com/gf/safedisc_nero.htm

U really should use Clone CD.

But if you want to Try with neros fair enough.

Einstein 26-01-2002 19:27

Hi there,
Ok, from wot u have said, I am guessing your mates cousin has done basically wot Donmega2 has said.
He has probably copied contents of cd to hard drive, then downloaded a fixed EXE file or the tools to do it himself, then burnt back to cd.
Also, ask yourself this. If your mates cousin has managed to do it, why r u asking us. Why not ask him. He will probably even show u how to do it.
Don't get me wrong, we will be glad to help.
Just be better to get a friend u know to show u rather than having alot of info thrown at u that u don't understand or too frightened to try.
Search & read the posts in this forum.
U should pick it up pretty quick.

Regards,

Einstein

cheers, right i decided to use clone cd instead. I copied a game (champions Manger 01/02) to my hard drive following then instructions on that backup link. But when i copied it to a cd it said hardware error or something. However i was using a cd-rw disk to copy it to, could thar have been a problem?

1 more thing, the instructions to follow on copying the game to disk ...
· When ready burn the CD-Image a CD-R using CloneCD with these settings:
o Set Write Speed to any desired speed
o Select RAW DAO
o Select Don't Repair SubChannel Data
o UnSelect Simulate Writing (if available)
o Select Burn Proof/Just Link (if available)
o unSelect Perform Laser Power Calibration
o unSelect Wait until Buffers are full
o Select Always close last Session

I cant see/select all of them options for eg...
THere isnt a RAW DAO, just a RAW SAO...
THere is no button to selet sub channel data (Well there is but its in grey so you cant select it)
Finally there is nothing saying... 'wait until buffers are under run'.

WHy is this? and wuld using a cd-rw disk effect copying he game to cd?

s100ott 27-01-2002 06:32

what do you mean use cracks instead? how do i use them and what are they

Einstein 27-01-2002 08:10

WOT WRITER DO U HAVE??
Sorry to shout but this is a vital bit of info if u want informative help.
Also, download a copy of CLONY from cdmediaworld site. Use the link @ top of this page. Then search for clony. Download & run. Insert cd & click scan cd button. This will give you the protection used & the correct settings for CloneCD to copy the game.
If your burner can handle the protection.

Einstein

For crying out loud, s100ott!!

When you ask for help......read what we post and DO IT.

I posted an answer telling you to tell us what burner you have.
Why would I do that? It's bloody simple. Without that info, no-one can give you accurate advice to help you.

I also suggested you search this forum for info as well. You clearly haven't done that either.
I like to think of myself as one of the most helpful people here (if you don't believe me just search for any of my posts) but I cannot help you if you don't follow the advice we give.

Other than coming around to your flippin house and doing it for you.

Einstein 27-01-2002 09:41

s100ott, please take note of wot the good man Crispy is saying.
He doesn't moan for nothing.
If u listen & follow instructions, u will learn very quickly.

I don't think I have once asked for any help yet.
Why? Because I search & read. Listen & learn.

Crispy, yes u r one of the most, if not, THE MOST helpful people on this site.
Keep it up dude ;)

Regards,

Einstein.

hey man, calm down.....i am just trying to help, this way you can't make any other guys answer to your posts

crispy 30-01-2002 16:15

@s100ott

Themis is rightly asking you to try and find out what your laptop's cdrw make and model is.
Why? Because your Freecom drive won't be able to copy most protected cds because it looks like it cannot write subchannel data, or write in DAO-RAW mode. Since this drive is gonna let you down, it would be wise to know what the make and model is of your other one so that we can tell you if that will be able to copy these protected titles. The easiest way to find this out is to click on the windows START (bottom left of screen)/SETTINGS/CONTROL PANEL/SYSTEM/DEVICE MANAGER/CDROM. There you will find the make and model of any drives.
Armed with this info, we can tell you whether your other drive can handle protected cds.
Why is this important? Because cd protections rely on cd writers being unable to handle certain characteristics of a cd e.g. unreadable errors, special layouts, illegal table of contents, subchannel data, multisession etc etc. Every cd writer has different capabilities, so this is why the make and model is SO important. Even different models within a manufacturers range have widely varying abilities.

I understand how frustrating it must be for you if you've yet to acquire the knowledge you seek, but understand that we post questions to you for a reason. Those reasons are always so that we can help you further. I'm very sure that no-one meant to offend or upset you, it's just rather frustrating for us as well, when simple advice isn't heeded which would answer your questions so much faster.

Lil Half Swell 30-01-2002 22:11

Gosh crispy, you sure spelled it out clearly for him this time.
I don't have the patience that you obviously have. I am only willing to go so far in helping people out. If I see that they are genuinely seeking some knowledge, I will help out if I have time, but if I see they are just demanding something NOW, forget it.
Some guys on this board (Crispy, Gh0sthacker, Einstein, to name a few) always go above & beyond. Kudos!

ok listen to this one then.since all you seem to get is abuse....this is a combo of both clone cd and nero which will work on any cd rw..people who say what make and model is are people who make onr to one copies of games ..which in opinion is a waste of time..these forums are here to help,if you are a newbie it is hard to get a grip of it,last thing you need is some tit slagging you off....right here goes ..
1.using clone cd extract the game to your hard drive.
2.now usually you would then burn it onto a cd using clone cd.Fine if you want to do it that way..But depending on your set up people have had problems with clone cd especially with windows xp.This way will get past it.
3.You need a tool called ISO buster found at cd/dvd utils at gamecopyworld.com...install it and tick all the little tickie boxes opn the install(you will see what im on about)
4.You will now see that the image file is now a ISO icon...create a new folder on your desktop and leave it..
5.Double click the ISO icon (that used to be a clone cd file)and it will open up with all the contents of the disk your trying to copy..selct all the files and right click your mouse and select extract objects..tell iso buster to dump the files into the NEW FOLDER you created on your desktop..once done (can take a while depending on your computer)start your copy of nero 5.xxx
6.open your new folder and drag and drop all the file into nero..burn as normal.
7.ok..still with me..the game you have just backed up will install normally but will not play as it will ask for the correct cd to be used..goto gamecopyworld.com main page and find your game in the PC index..down load the corrisponding fixed EXE file/nocd to you desk top...extract the file to your desktop(if you are unsure what version your game is always select the lowest number i.e v1.0)ok the file you have unzipped will look like a game icon of the game you have copied..Right click the icon and select copy..Then double click c/drive Program files and find where the game is installed..Open the folder and you will see all the games files including one that you have just copied..In a BLANk SPACE away from any files right click and select paste..If done correct it will say are you sure you want to overwright a file with the same file name, selct yes...The game will work with no cd and this is your first step into the big world of cracking..This method is a long way round but if you have problems with clone cd and nero will not back it up although the new versionwill do this will work.....

There are many newbies here that don't explain their problems well and they get complxed, this way we understand that they have another problem that is not so basic....this way we consider that the man that posted the topic knows the basics as he posts a really complicated problem.se,it's not always the fault of the replier but also the fault of the starter of the topic.
