Hmmm...... Let us know Bighap.... (Could this be the first one that the Apple won't play???) I hope not.... The Apple chip seems to be a very reliable chip... The Messiah 2 and Original Messiah plays them perfectly..... |

Well I picked up Splinter Cell today and have good news. In case you don't already know, you can disable your apple by holding reset while booting for about 5 seconds. Here are my results.
Original with normal boot----> Boots fine but get RSOD when starting a new game. Original with apple disabled---->Boots fine and starts new game fine. Backup with normal boot---->Boots fine but get RSOD when starting a new game. Backup with apple disabled---->RSOD. Duh! I thought no this can't be. The apple is perfect and I am going to proove it.....and I did! I found a loophole. For booting a backup do a normal boot. When starting a new game if you choose to save, let it save. It will then say saved correctly with the option to hit ok. Simply push X and the open tray button on your ps2 simultaneously. You will now just have a black screen. Let your tray stay open for a second or two then close the tray. Your game now boots perfectly. Do this same method when starting a new game without saving as well. You will be asked do you want to save. Say no. Then you will be asked are you sure? Highlight yes and hit X and the open tray button simultaneously. Then close your tray after a second or two. This also must be done when loading a saved game. Just highlight your saved game and hit X and open tray button simultaneously. Then close your tray after a second or two. I still have no complaints about the apple.:D |
Hehe
Nice work Bighap =)
I'm sure there are at least one or two games even the Mesiah 2 has problems with. Maybe no now but there will be. Apple Kicks A**! =) |

No idea. I was just trying a few things such as waiting for a second, two seconds, and three seconds then hiting eject, but that didn't work. So I tried hitting them together and it worked! I was pretty excited. Lots of people at ps2newz were having this problem too. I was sure to let them know about it too. It also works for people having this problem with their Magic chips.:D
|
does messiah have any problems yet???
|
No.
|
Uhhh, one of my ps2's is chipped with a magic clone (magic 4 aka NH3) Annyway, it can play all the games that are thought to have problems, including splinter cell, vice city and kingdom hearts. Is this possible or do I have the wrong chip?
|
I believe it. It wouldn't suprise me that magic clones are better than the real magics.
|
i guess that trick wont work on a v7 no solder cause it still gets red screen of death when i boot it that way
|
It's really weird, but I still prefer my Messiah 2 from my clone anyday:D
|
I think this only affects v7 machines.
Bighap has a v7 machine from what I can tell |
UrrBodyH8sMe, thats because no solders work entirely differently than so-swap chips. No-swaps use the bios and CD\DVD controller to determine when and what to inject into the SCex wire thus fooling the system into thinking that it is a valid disc. No solders just interupt the eject process so that the machine doesn't really know you are swapping the disc, no code injected. basically no solders are the same as the knife trick except that the tray ejects for you. Not sure if this exactly what happens just what I have been able to gather and form in my head.

The original Messiah STILL boots EVERYTHING........ So I'm sure the Messiah 2 will also...... Apple is an AWESOME chip.... NO DOUBT....... BUT..... There is nothing better than the MESSIAH.......... |
i will just have to beat that game on my v6 no solder till maybe a patch comes out to fix this on the v7's cause it works fine on my v6 cause that seems like alot of trouble just to play and load ur game on the v7 im awaitng my v7 pro installed apple from [email protected] but i will just play that game on my v6 :) and my others on the apple
|
I recently backed up this game and I have a V4 ps2 with an apple chip. I didn't let the game get as far as the "Start new game" screen before I assumed that it was booting correctly. I will test this game on my machine and post the results as soon as I can. :)

hi bighap
Just wanted to ask u that I already hav a Magic 3.1 And almost all my backups work fine But i hav to press reset once or twice to load the game And everything works fine I am having a Mini apple pro( new one) So should i get the mini installed or stay with 3.1 Thank u |
Update:
Splinter Cell Works Flawlessly on my V4 Apple. Backed up on Ritek media. |
V4 + Apple is a GREAT combination for me.

Yeah this is only an issue with v7 machines, as it does the double check.
|
Bighap tell me now should i switch to the mini or stay with magic
Till now i dont hav any prob with magicBootsevry game So wat do u say Should i stay with it or switch to mini Thank u |
I have a v7 with a Magic 3.1 and yes it doesn't work for me either.
It will get to the start game...and when you start a new game. the screen will go black and then go to RSOD. So bighap is that the only method that works on a v7 or is there other ways.. Looks like it's time to sell my PS2 and get a new one with a new chip (but i dunno what chips are availabile in my hometown in Australia) |
Just uninstall the chip - V7's are great. I'd go for the Matrix Infinity...
|
is it possible to uninstall a modchip?? - goes to show how much i know lol
I was thinking of getting a new PS2 and getting a Magic V chip installed (i hope i can get this modchip in Australia)...what do you think? |
Yeah you can uninstall. You need some Desolder Braid and just take the solder off with that, then just lift the chip off and resolder another.
Don't get rid of the V7. Keep it and just install a Matrix Infinity. There's no need to upgrade - so save the extra cash and get a HDD and HD Loader. |
lufcfan - you convinced me...i did the homework and found that it would be more expensive to get a new PS2 (v9 or v10) and getting it modchiped and doing the romero mod would cost more than replacing the chip.
Another plus is that everyone here says that the v7 is ultra relaible. I'll now have save the cash to get a new chip, network adapter, HDD and find someone that's selling HD Loader in Australia (the price converted from GBP is around about $75AUD which includes shipping) |
Exactly what I was thinking. Glad you decided what to do - good decision fella... :)
|
OMG old post! Anyway yeah I agree with lufcfan, just have and installer un-install your old chip and keep the V7, its a very good version. Consider Shadowknyght ( http://cyber-mag.com/station/ ) he is in OZ. Also the Magic V is a great chip if you want to go that route, infinity is very good too!
|
This is probably a stupid question but I didn’t read anyone say they tried to boot their V7 Apple by powering on with the eject button, works for other protected games, never played Splinter Cell myself. This is Apple Pro chip, right?
