lol

what i dont understand is the process i have alcohol and all that good stuff but i dont know what step 1 would be and so on, it wont let me make 1:1 copies so im guessing i have to make an image file and mess with that?

I thiink the two games are Safedisk 2, so read and write the image with the Safedisk 2 profile.

If it's safedisc 2, you'd better check here to see if your writer supports correct EFM-encoing (two sheep), otherwise it may not work.

Medal Of Honor Spearhead: Safedisc v2.80.10
Delta Force Black Hawk Down: Securom v4.84

sublime90 10-04-2003 10:52

not working

ok i tried making a copy of medal of honor spear head using alcohol, safe disc 2 but it wont let me uncheck "read sub channel data" and i keep getting disc read errors, probably because i only have the trial version right? how much does alcohol go for?

sublime

RincewindTheWiz 10-04-2003 11:29

I think the Alcohol120% demo is only time limited and should work exactly like the real thing, so there's probably something else wrong.

GLH 10-04-2003 12:18

The disc errors are normal with Safedisc 2 and have nothing to do with Trail Version of Alcohol !!!

sublime90 10-04-2003 12:58

its normal to get like a million of them??

So long as they are between sectors ~800-10000 then they are normal. Not sure why it wont let you UNcheck subchannels, but having it enabled won't disturb the reading of the Safedisk game - it's just not needed

sublime90 10-04-2003 13:12

allright cool i'll check it out again thanks

when i first started buring it used to make me thinking i was doing something wrong, those first read disc errors can be up to like 5% of the burning and it goes at an agonisingly slow speed but after that first 5% (or when the disc errors stop) the process speeds up heaps and is then done pretty quickly, it is normal to take up to an hour or more. So just let it run its course thern give it a go.

gh0sth@cker 10-04-2003 14:17

To speed up the reading of the errors, download Daemon Tools and read its online manual and look at the Fast Dump feature. The errors should fly by in a few seconds with this feature.

sublime90 10-04-2003 14:27

ok i did what you guys said to and it sucessfully made a copy of spearhead. now the only problem is when i go to play the backup i get the screen (play, uninstall, readme..etc,etc) when i click play it acts like its loading up like normal then i get a blue screen saying error has occured press any key to continue, then it closes it should i try again but burn it really slow?

sublime

RincewindTheWiz 10-04-2003 14:34

The blue screen is not normal. Normally if the burn was bad, you'd get a dialog box saying something like "Please insert the original disc", not a Blue Screen Of Death :D So, does it work with the original cd ? If not, it's time to update your video card drivers. You could also try that backup on another pc and see if it runs there.

sublime90 10-04-2003 14:40

yeah the original works fine i wonder why it does that though....

sublime

RincewindTheWiz 10-04-2003 14:54

Mmmmmmmm..... the plot thickens :D Now that we've established that it's not a driver problem since your original works, it's time to look at the backup itself. Try making one at 4x speed. You can change the read speed in Alcohol120%, and this usually helps with bad copies. Now, can you install the game from that backup or does that do funny stuff too ?

sublime90 10-04-2003 16:01

i just made a copy of black hawk down using securom and i made another coaster. it lets me install it but when i go to play it i get the hour glass then it disapears and thats that. as for medal of honor i'll try burning it slower and installing that see if i can get anything

Always test on re-writables

Pro-Svet(SPB) 11-04-2003 11:39

That's very easy:the MOH(AA)2cd(normaly)copy(manual) all files from cd to the CD-R or hard disc.

No-CD Instructions:
Install the game - Full Installation.
Replace the original MOH_AA.EXE executable with the one from the Executable Archive.
Play the Game

:D

gh0sth@cker 11-04-2003 12:11

Yes that is the second option. The first being to copy it 1:1 with Alcohol 120%

tavener13 16-05-2003 12:22

Pro-Svet(SPB) what do you mean by "Replace the original MOH_AA.EXE executable with the one from the Executable Archive." As I am trying to get DFBHD to work as well.

gh0sth@cker copying 1:1 lets you install etc. but not play the game itself.

Pro-Svet(SPB) 17-05-2003 03:36

tavener13

First of all you need to have Alcohol 120% to make 1:1 copy, check the copy options,DFBWD normaly protected by secuROM v.4,CD-checks and s/n,so Alcohol 120% can copy CD with that protection. You will find it when you'll start to make image from cd,the option below including that type of protection.

enjoy the game.:p
