Apple Ps2 Chip

Hello all

Apple Chip

Can anyone tell me If this mod is ok?
Is it a decent modchip?
Does is have more or less problems than the other chips out there?

Thanks

bighap 01-04-2003 18:23

It is an awesome chip. I've got one and I don't have a single complaint. I have never heard of anybody complain about this chip, unlike the magic 3.x, which has its share of problems.

Thanks

Thanks for the fast reply.

I can't wait to get it installed =)

bighap 01-04-2003 18:47

Sure. Are you doing the install yourself or is somebody doing it for you?

Plasmah 01-04-2003 18:48

Paying!

Paying to get it done =)

I'm not a steady handed person hehe.

bighap 01-04-2003 18:53

Make sure this person is reliable. It's a tough job.

Plasmah 01-04-2003 18:56

Yep

I hear ya...

Yea this guy has a store in New York my friend took his there and the guy did a fantastic job.

The only thing is he charges 100 bucks

But i want it done right so I'll pay it =)

bighap 01-04-2003 18:59

Are you dropping it off or shipping it there? If you are shipping it, $100 is not worth it. Bill at freedomlives.com does installs for $60. If you are dropping it off that price is ok.

Plasmah 01-04-2003 19:02

Yea

Dropping it off... I live a few miles from NY

The guy does it like in an hour or so. So I'll walk around NY for an hour and eat a dirty water dog LOL!

bighap 01-04-2003 19:04

Good deal. Let me know how things turn out.:)

Plasmah 01-04-2003 19:05

OK

I will thanks for the chat and have a good night.

bighap 01-04-2003 19:09

Pay the hundred bucks in NY, if you send it to Bill it's only going to be a headache and he'll probably screw your system up anyway. I quote "I do not have time to test out every feature of a chip, if the one backup I have boots, then the install was done properly" Meanwhile I get a black screen on 2 out of the three features of the chip....but the install was done properly....HA! Stay far far away....

bighap 02-04-2003 10:19

Bill said this to you:confused: I have yet to hear a bad story about Bill and will continue to use him regardless if the above is true. He is probably talking about the dms3 anyways. Who has the time to test all those features?

Gurm 02-04-2003 11:07

I love that people buy crappy chips, and blame the installer if it doesn't work the way they wanted.

Independent tests show that the DMS3 doesn't do half the stuff they claim it does. Period.

He most certainly did say that and I talked to someone on irc that had a major problem with him as well. My major problem with his install was the fact that when the system was booted in PS1 or Dev.olution mode I got NOTHING, just a black screen...similar to what you'd see if you created a bridge...but it is stated on his site that the system is tested for "FULL FUNCTIONALITY" prior to and after the install is performed.... Which he admitted was a lie, because he said if his one backup works then it was done properly...no more tests are performed. As for not wanting to test all the functions...seriously, how long does it take to boot into the three seperate modes? all of a minute and a half? and boot a PS1 game, 30 seconds? I think it's worth it to the installer to take 2 minutes to be sure a complete job was performed, which in my case, it clearly was not...Seems like bs to me considering a black screen when trying to boot does not constitute full function... And he's asshole on top of it, expected me to pay for a full repair to fix HIS mistake... My recomendation - AVOID AT ALL COSTS.... You may get what you pay for but you may end up with a near useless unit and $60 less in your pocket...
