Help copying games.
 

Hi, I read vlukas FAQ and just have a few questions.

For NWN it says there is no way to get a working 1:1 copy right?

So does this mean im better off just installing and using a cracked exe file? Or is there a way I can burn the game and run from CD at all? I dont want to emulate so any help would be appreciated.

Next when i scan unreal 2 with clony xxl it finds nothing. What protection is on this game, and what settings/program is best used to make a copy?

Im using clony xxl and clonecd at the momment but I hear good things about alcohol?

NWN is a securom new title. All those games cannot have an EXACT 100% copy. However, with programs like Alcohol120%, you can make a working backup. Note that this backup may sometimes not work in certain drives, and it definitely cannot be copied itself. You can use Alcohol120% to play the game off the hard disk too, it's your choice really.

Should I even bother trying to make a working backup? Or just use cracked exes?

Well, if you use Alcohol120% to run it from the hard disk, you don't need to find a cracked exe for every new patch that comes out. NWN tends to get updated a lot... It's really your choice.

And alcohol works for everygame?

How do you register alcohol? The register button is there but it wont let me register it what the hell???

I know you buy it, but how do u enter the registration code? The reisgter button wont let me press it.

But how do i make working install cds? Do those not have any protection?

Another thing, although you cant make working 1:1 copies of the new securom, >4.8x? is it possible to make working installation versions? If so how?

Dump the original CD:s with a tool you like. If you using windows XP you can copy the hole CD in to harddrive.
If you using Windows 98. Make a map with same name as the CD. Go to the cdrom..
copy all files and maps to the map you created in the harddrive.
Run Nero burning rom or what burning tool you like.
Mark all you file and label the CD-ROM to the map you created.
Then you got a copy, with out SecuROM. I haven't seen any installation that's SecuROM protected. So you can install from the CD. But not run the game with out crack.
Operation Flashpoint have SafeDisc 2 protected installation.
Has any one seen a SecuROM protected installation?

SO just doing a regular copy it will install fine, but I wont be able to run the game w/o a crack or emulation?

I need to know how to make a working sinatll vers, from which i can install a game over and over again.

I also need a working playdisc either by emulation or of methods known.

Games are Unreal 2 and NWN. I know how to do the play discs i think now, so how do i make install cds? If i do a stright copy, will they be installable?

You ask how to put a crack in to image...or are asking for 1:1 copy or are u asking for a backup.

It's realy hard to tell what you are after...
If you want just to dump a image. You can create a image with nero burning rom and then mount it to a mounting tool. If you want a 1:1 copy use Blindwrite. If you want to copy a crack in to the CD do what I was writing before!

No the games i wana burn are the newest securom where a 1:1 copy isnt possible. So Im going to have to make emulation cds to use instead. Question is will those cds I use using Vlukas emulation guide be able to install the game as well?

Just to clarify, when we talk about emulation, we (well I at least :D) mean using Daemon Tools/Alcohol120% to run a copy without some safedisc 2/securom specific data. Thus we emulate certain function calls of those protections. While securom new can't be EXACTLY copied, you CAN make a NEAR 100% backup of it which works more or less, without using Daemon Tools/Alcohol120% to run the game. The problem is that this backup can't be copied itself. So if you copied such a blindwrite made backup, you would need to run Alcohol120%/Dameon Tools in emulation mode to get it to work. The original backup would work fine (but could be defeated by later protection upgrades in patches). So yes, you can make a backup that works. But guard the original with your life and use the backup in real life, because only the original can give you new backups.
