Civ 3 play the world
 

Just updated my civ 3 play the world to 1.21. I have an orrig disk and now its asking me to put it in the drive. The patch has bug gered up the safedisk thingy. Cant think of a way to fix this prob than a no CD modified exe. Any one have one.

The patch hasen't been out for 2 weeks. read the stickeys! (a tip ;) )

Safedisc?? I though it had SeXXXuRom....

SecuRom in USA or Noth American to be more spec.
SafeDisc in Europe whe don't ask me.. :p

Yeah, I hate dragging that CD from work to home, so I just hope it will be posted here, since all the other NOCD files are not here, either fro just regular Civ3 or PTW.

If not, anyone know a good place to look?

Crack can be made before two weeks are gone.

I don't like new policy (no way to find crack before two two weeks), but I doubt that I could do anything about it anyway.

It's not that I'm talking about.
I'm f*cking know the crack can be made faster.
But it's a RULE in this forum that's not allow U to talk about patch that hasen't been out for 2 weeks!
The rule was made beucase when a new patch are relaes. there is about 1000 new threads about same thing and about how to get a crack. Well like Hitman2 for example. the first crack took 1 month to do. 1 hole month. and there was very much talk about it. So I think the mod was tired about it and made the rule. So the crackers have time to do the crack. Still there are some guys that's post before the rule policy. But it's bether to have 4 post those threads and 1000 :p

And I was tipping where to find the crack. but I should stop doing that. Becuase non one is thanks full to me by doin that :(
There official releas of the patch is 2003-03-01 and that's mean you can talk about it here in the forum 2003-03-14 not earlier. And yeah tha patch could be found in a earlier date but in a Civ3 the patch was reales then. So....9 days left ;)

I didn't quote first of all. And second of all I was talking about 1.1 patch. sorry I didn't write that. My mistake.

I have discovered something new too. The reason it is saying my disk is wrong because the patch is for the American version of the game. Also it uses a different copy protection so it will say my disc is incorrect. I get all my patches from meggagames and they have forgot to mention only to use this for the American version of the game.. If i hadnt have put this link here , then i would nt have discovered all this stuff about the different copy protection and where to get the no cd and stuff.

Suppose what im really trying to say some people on here are really helpfull and i am very gratefull, but there are some people who put up replies that offer no help whatso ever . I think if you cant offer help its best to stay quiet as it fills up the link with useless stuff . Im sure many people have been helped ,like i have been, from my link

The only thing is i will have to wait for the European patch for my favourite game.

If I don't rember wrong the Europe version hasen't been reales yet. That mean the only patch out there is for North American that's using SecuRom.
And the Europe version using the SafeDisc version.

How ever. Don't download the patch on MegaGames. Always go to offical homepage. Like www.civ3.com
And U are a European click on UK in top of the page. Then U are going in to UK version of the page. There is only 1.14F patch out there. So that's mean the 1.21F hasen't been releas.
To change it back, just uninstall the 1.21F patch And maybe U need to reinstall the game.

it really makes you wonder why game companies just dont put the regional data into a seperate file and use a 'universal' exe, it'd save all the clashes playing online and stuff, with ppl having different regionalised versions etc...

I have no idea why they put out regions... U can buy the game on amazon. And play the game in Europe.

But those who don't understand English can't get a copy before it's launch in Europe. And there the SafeDisc and SecuRom version are being use full.

But since only difference in files is in copy-protection used,
wouldn't no-cd crack and 1.21f US version work with Europeans too (since cd-crack removes cd-check from exe file)?

I remeber before European patch v1.14 is released that some people installed US version, which obviously didn't worked.

Then they appled no-cd crack and it began working again.

Maybe it's do or maybe not. I've have not tested. I have buy my game from Amazon. So I've got the US version. I'm only have no-cd crack for US so I can't tell U if the Europe Version works!

I tried patching my europe version then using he no cd patch. I had a game that froze my system after 30 mins and 3 atempts to play a game where the game woiuld nt let me join and gave me a message the host has cancelled the game. So from my opinion it doesnt work

Am I alone to have this problem?

When I run the 1.21f No-CD pathed EXE (I found here in this thread), Windows XP always ask me to send an Error Report and then go back to winblows desktop....
Im able to load, set up my game but when starting it (After it loaded and configurated Human, AI and Terrain), "Send Error Report"
Why?

I have English Version.
With Original CD and 1.21f without patch = OK
With the Fixed exe = XP Problem....

Never experiemented this kind of prob with earlier version of patch...

What? I have no-cd fixed 1.21 and it's work fine. And I'm using windows XP...

Me too i fixed mine ans mine is the uk version ( or unfixed it which ever u prefer) and it didnt crash my windows xp, Worked fine but i became paranoid when i kept getting the host has cancelled when i tried to join a game or propped a game. I did have 1 succesfull game for a bout 30 mins then my whole system froze. Could be down to this patch or just dodgy prgramming in the orriginal game. Cos this game is realy buggy and misbehaves even when i play it properly with the proper cd in the drive. When i used the 1.14 no cd patch ,actually, in my opinion, made the game more stable has mine use to crash while the safedisc menu ran right at the beggining.

the game lags even on a LAN - its that buggy.

one funny thing. Becuase in the change log they say that lag on LAN game has been fixed. :p

No I haven't test online. But I have tested single play only.
